There was an eye doctor I really liked that wanted a Prior Authorization. I understand why now. I don't know why Mass Health wouldn't just green light me for any routine eye exam but it worked, I asked my PCP for a PA and I eventually got new glasses.

First, you should always have the option of paying cash for the prescription if it isn't covered or requires a PA. The pharmacy may not have the option of refunding you if it ever gets approved in the future should you choose to pay out of pocket. I'm not sure the reason your pharmacy is not offering that option. Maybe try a locally owned, independent pharmacy if you aren't already using one. Second, the amount of time a PA takes to process varies greatly depending on both the doctor's office/staff and the insurance plan you have. But anything longer than a couple of weeks is on definitely on the long end. Hope that helps!

I have prior authorization approved, CVS sent me a letter saying I'm authorized for a medication for something like 3 years.
    - Doc had me on a couple generic meds over the last 3 months, now he wants to change me to a name brand.
    - Insurance will cover it (60$) but....
They are adding a 150fee because its DAW (Dispense As Written)... what should I do?
