- The Parenzana Cycling Trail.
More information on the trail can be found here: www.parenzana....
The cycling trail stretches from the Italian coastal town of Muggia along the route of an old narrow-gauge railway line, making use of the many bridges and tunnels as it winds past beaches, to the coastal Sečovlje salt pans before moving through the hills and down into Poreč. The railway transported wine and olive oil between 1902 and 1935 but now provides a spectacular cycle path. The route is mainly asphalt in Italy and Slovenia, but changes to a gravel trail in Croatia. With a good trekking bike you should have no issues navigating the entire trail, as you can see from the videos.
Part 1 - 38km. Starting in Muggia, Italy, part 1 of the Parenzana trail shares the same route as the Eurovelo 8, taking you into the countryside over rolling hills, crossing the border into Slovenia before descending back to the Adriatic at Koper. The ride then travels along a dedicated cycle path that hugs the shore to Izola before crossing the town and up into the hills. This part takes in a couple of superb tunnels before descending into the resort town of Portorož. The ride then travels along yet another coast-hugging track past the spectacular 13th century Sečovlje Salt Pans, which still produces sea-salt via traditional methods. Finally we finish the first part of the ride at the Slovenian/Croatian Border checkpoint.
The full Parenzana cycle ride is available in 4 consecutive parts either with or without telemetry

Many thanks! I wasn't sure whether I'd get used to the telemetry, but yes, I like it.
Hi Mikko, thank you for your feedback. I always upload two versions - one with telemetry and the exact same video without telemetry. I like to keep the telemetry minimal and consistent. I'm happy that you like it!
I'm gathering info about the route and yours have been exceptionally helpful thank you so much for sharing this I read how you divided it into four parts, would you mind me asking more or less how much time it took you for these 4 sections? thank you so much again
Thank you and I'm happy that you find them helpful. All the times are on the videos
Muggia Italy to Sečovlje - allow 2 hours.
Sečovlje to Grožnjan - allow 1.5 to 2 hours
Grožnjan to Livade - allow 1 hour
Livade to Poreč - allow 2 hours
In truth though, there is so much to see, so depending on how you like cycling (leisurely versus speed run). Personally, it's worth taking the time to visit the towns along the route. Koper is beautiful, as is Piran and Portoroz. the last time I did this route I stopped overnight in Grožnjan (as the views from here are incredible).
@@alpinerover thank you!! Yeah i was wondering how much it would take to not end up cycling at night haha thanks a lot really!!
@alpineRover When were these Parenzana Trail films shot? How recently? Summer 2022?
Hi @energyIQ. They were filmed early June 2022.
Very interessant...but the music is disturbing. Put more relaxing music😮
Thanks. Music is always subjective and very difficult to please everyone. A suggestion could be to turn it down to zero and separately play the music that you like to hear whilst riding.
