I hate the idea that people say “Messi is all talent, Ronaldo is hard work” as if both weren’t clearly gifted with potential and both worked hard to fulfill it.
Ronaldo is so good and versatile that you can watch 19 videos of him and you will still see something new. Every 5 years his games evolves. At man u he was fast af and dribbled through anything. At madrid he was a physical beast and by the end of his madrid era he became the most clinical and smartest finisher in the game. At juve he is slowly evolving again into a slight more collective and mature player

@VIS Mong Both great players, but CR7 is still more versatile as a comparison. Even when it comes to diversity in technique throughout his career. The difference I would make in both cases is the effectiveness of attempts. Messi in that regard is more effective in passes and kicks than Ronaldo.
@VIS Mong I think Messi is one of the best conventional dribblers the world of footbal has ever seen but there is no innovation behind Messi's technique. C. Ronaldo in that regard even made a few moves a trend, i think the most famous being the knuckle ball. When in combination of C. Ronaldo daring to leave teams to play in different formations and different positions on the field, unlike Messi who was always had a free roam in offensive midfield, I feel that the portuguese's experimentation is worth noting. So having that in mind, and despite not converting as many chances and attempts as Messi, CR7 is still a monster when all things are considered.
I really wouldn't tip the balance over another's favour, but that's just me. I think most fans have the tendency to conveniently analyze a few aspects of play and not considering the variables in each player's career.

Young ronaldo was one of the most skillful players all time. As he matured he was less flashy but more productive in scoring and assisting etc which led to his success.

Not really. It helps when you're quick and short players are usually faster which is why they are usually better dribblers. Height doesn't really have anything to do with dribbling.

Actually being taller makes it harder to dribble. As your center of mass is higher, you easily lose your balance. It is just ridiculous how good Ronaldo is despite his height. Messi, being shorter, has it better for dribbling. But despite his height, Ronaldo is that good. I am not saying messi isn't good. Its just that his shorter height helps. I respect both of them a lot.
