- -With the Indianapolis 500 coming up this weekend, here's an upload of a review of a vintage Indianapolis car race from March 1978 held at the long-gone Ontario Motor Speedway in California. The track opened in 1970 with great fanfare as a West Coast Indianapolis, but a poor 1970s economy and poor track management ultimately doomed the facility and it closed in 1980 and was demolished. Still, in its decade it left a legacy of memorable races for Indianapolis-style "Champ" cars as well as NASCAR.
-This is not a full race telecast but a 19 minute review of the race and events leading up to it hosted by active driver Johnny Rutherford. The race was won by Danny Ongais. - Спорт
Ontario Motor Speedway, Texas World Speedway, Riverside International Raceway, Trenton Speedway... how would be good if these racing tracks still exist nowaday!
I had the great luck to have 1978 be the only year I ever got to see all three 500 mile races in one season. That luck made me able to see the only time any man ever won all three 500 mile races. Luck. Wish there was video of THAT race.
Finally, this is reposted! Thank you! Do you happen to have the Spring Trenton race from this year? That was televised on ABC and featured a very controversial finish that also involved Ongais.
You're welcome! Yes, I do have that one too. I'll make sure that gets posted soon.
Como é possivel essa pista incrivel nao existir mais ?
Pelo que eu andei pesquisando, foram problemas administrativos que fizeram o Ontario Motor Speedway deixar de existir.
Ooh yea, that old turbo sound!
