I can't be more grateful to you for making this video. I'm a solo female backpacker from India and I'm currently doing latin America. Nicaragua was going to be my 38th country (just a little behind your number when you got here). I was supposed to cross over from El Salvador to Nicaragua TONIGHT, going via Honduras and through this very border crossing. Had my shuttle bus and hostels etc. all booked. But due to Nicaragua's required online pre-check form (which you were also asked to fill) that wouldn't let me select my nationality as Indian and kept showing errors, I decided to do some more research which was giving me all sorts of mixed information about whether or not I'd be allowed into Nicaragua from this land border. While doing this research I stumbled on this video right in time (13 hours before my shuttle start time) and decided to cancel my trip. No way can I afford to get stuck in that part of Honduras if these guys treat me the same way. Now will be flying directly to Costa Rica. Thank you so SO much for documenting this crossing struggle. It honestly really helped.

I faced a similar situation in Romania, after having traveled in several countries in Europe. They refused to give me entry permit saying I hold an "Indian passport and it is a bad passport". Fortunately I had a letter from their Ministry because I was traveling on a business trip and they let me in after they saw the letter. I have seen discrimination against us in several countries just because we hold Indian passports even though we speak well, dress well and do everything like others do. Cannot help it. This is the reality. Some Indians (who try to escape into other countries or enter illegally) have created this problem for the genuine ones out there.
To deal with such cases, research the countries where Indians generally face discrimination in immigration, understand the reason behind them and prepare in advance for that. Has helped me in my travels in some countries.

I am an Indian and travel a lot. I think whoever advised you was in the wrong. Being from a traveler from India you should never take advise from Europeans. They can travel more freely than us. I have learned to never depend on visa on arrival. Always apply for separate VISA for each country except Schengen. UK, US passport holders have free entry in many third world countries. I too see these people moving in and out of immigration in 2-3 minutes while i wait at line for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Be very careful when travelling to countries without Indian embassies. Nicaragua doesn't have Indian embassy. and yes... NEVER Ever travel without CASH- US Dollar or the local currency.

Some people are arguing that Non-Europeans like Indians need to get a Visa in order to enter Nicaragua:
I have clearly mentioned in almost all my border-crossing videos from Central America (also in my previous video when I reached the Nicaraguan border) that I have a valid American Visa (with an Indian Passport) and tourists with a valid American visa DO NOT need a visa to enter Nicaragua - this is also stated on their official website and can be confirmed with their immigration
or tourism ministry!
Therefore, I was eligible to enter VISA FREE like I did in all the other Central American countries.
Nevertheless, the immigration of any country has the right to allow or refuse entry to anyone (even if the person has a valid visa, the visa does not guarantee the entry to their country) and I totally respect that, however, what I don’t respect is their behaviour towards me because of my Nationality.
I know that a lot of people from our country migrate illegally to USA through Nicaragua but that does not guarantee that I’m there to do or promote the same! (while having an American visa and I also started this trip from America!).
Their (the officials’) behaviour was very unprofessional and dismissive, nothing against the local people of the country though.
I’m born in India and will travel to every country with an INDIAN PASSPORT, I don’t care if anyone let’s me in or not, JAI HIND! 🇮🇳

It's not an issue of a Nicaraguan government dishonouring an Indian passport, especially with a valid US visa too; the real issue was that your got scammed by the agent and the immigration officials who pocketed the visa and hotel money.

Unwritten rule: govt. can ask european countries like serbia to make visa free for indians. But if indians don’t respect their stay limit or exploit their local rules then serbia would revoke (as they did) the visa free entry of indians. It’s not their fault, it’s more of our fault. They looking for their interests and we should look for ours..
Earlier Serbia was visa free for Indians but now revoked. Illegal immigrants from India exploited this to migrate to European countries.

What I have observed that the actual developed countries (US,UK,Japan) do not grill us that much while entering. If they see that you have a valid reason, they basically grant entry within a minute.. These small countries which are both rigid and difficult to explain, sometimes behave like this....
Same happens in Eastern Europe too!

But many indian might act that way if Bangladeshi or Myanmar people migrate in bulk. I know Indian don't judge people that came through valid papers but i know of people who hate immigrants and say all Bangladeshi should be moved out.

My friends, when applying for Indian visas, consistently reported being mistreated by embassy staff, likened to animals in their treatment. Not just acquaintances, but even my wife, who is Mexican, while I hold an Indian passport from Chandigarh, faced blatant corruption. Officials directly demanded bribes for her visa application, which was rejected twice until I forcefully intervened and created bloody chaos at Indian embassy in NY on our third attempt. This suggests a broader issue: the need for us to improve how we treat foreigners if we expect better treatment abroad. It's regrettable that you've been subjected to such experiences without any fault of your own. Our actions as a nation have unfortunately set a negative precedent, signaling to others that it's acceptable to treat us poorly if we do the same to their citizens.

Thanks I would avoid this country. In my opinion I want to only visit all the countries that have Visa free entry for Indian passports. They actually want us and so let us reward them with our money. I would not go to any country that treats us like this, it is also one of the reason I didnt opt for a job outside of India.
