- In this week's episode, Patrick and Stuart welcome family friend Frauke back to the chateau along with her friend Gesche. They help out with removing more of the 20th century wallpaper in the chateau, as well as helping Patrick and Stuart with two of the chandeliers. Patrick also works on some repairs to a clock that they acquired from a recent auction that will become a gift for a friend.
Join Patrick and Stuart on their journey to find a neglected, forgotten, or crumbling château or castle in France, and then continue to follow them as they work on its restoration, rénovation, decoration, and furnishing. Along the way, they will also create and share videos on their preparation for having gîtes for guests, and an event venue in their chateau (wedding, birthday, anniversary, organization or club meetings, retreats, etc.).

Fabulous Chandelier/ luminarie. Fabulous friend helping. This is the first luminaries I've seen which suits my aesthetic, lots of ohhing and ahhing this end. The clock was fabulous. Hope Tony likes it...

Such an interesting chandelier! I have never seen stags on a chandelier before! It is quite lovely! What friends and relatives are Frauke and Gesche to work so hard to help! Thank you. Frauke is my mother’s cousin. Gesche is a goof dried and neighbor of hers. I wish I had more time for tinkering 😮😮😊. The clocks range from 1750s to Art Nouveau. We love variety ❤

I am slowly feeling some better, thank God. The pain was unbelievable. My older brother and SIL are visiting July 6th for a week from Labrador. I pray I will be well enough to enjoy their visit by then. Unfortunately my hubby Pat has to work. I am so looking forward to seeing them.They are the first of my family to visit in 23 years that I have been here. I last saw them in person in 2016, so this is very exciting for me.

Oh my, the chandelier is beyond gorgeous!!! You are collecting so many magnificent pieces including the beautiful clocks. I love the sound of clocks when they chime. I always seem to tell you about childhood memories, but so much of what you do or have triggers my memories. When my parents were in their upper eighties they moved in with my sister. My parents had many antique clocks, French, English, German, Swiss, etc in our childhood home. They all chimed, gonged, cuckooed, etc. so when they moved into my sisters house along came many of the clocks. My sister never liked the sounds they made, so she would go around switching them off, stopping the pendulums, etc. My father would turn them back on. This silent battle between them lasted until my parents passed away in their 90’s a few years ago. My sister still has the clocks and of course they are turned off. One night not that long ago they all chimed at midnight. She called me freaked out. I told her she was always looking for a sign from mom and dad and the chimes were our parents letting her know they are ok and with us. I can’t think of any other explanation. Thank you for collecting such beautiful clocks. xx
Oh Stephanie….. firstly, it is an honor to trigger such amazing memories. The chandelier is very unusual and we are collecting amazing pieces at bargain prices. 😮😮😮😮. It is true.

That chandelier is stunning. Watching Patrick work on that pendulum clock reminded me of when I took apart a clock I found at Goodwill. Lordy had to go to the library to find a book on clock repair. Yes I'm of the age before Google. Still have that book. Always a pleasure watching you Patrick. Excellent vlog gentlemen.

Good morning Patrick & Stuart, a chandelier is just such a beautiful piece of art!! They can add so much glamour to a room. It will be fun assembling the crystals pieces and the stag chandelier is just too gorgeous for words. I am sure the clock will be restored perfectly, just a bit of patience. Love the climbing rose on the wall it looks like there are two climbers planted together, the pink and white is just lovely. Restoring chandeliers and clocks (as far as I can), is so rewarding. The rose is grafted and one of the wild rose roots came up. So pretty.

I apologize for coming into your conversation Patrick…I am replying to your comment about “the craftsmanship on chandeliers, clocks, old furniture…” That you are able to find ‘pieces to puzzles’…be they for clocks, chandeliers, missing components, and Stuart’s capabilities to rebuild and/or design and build cabinetry, furniture, etc.
You both are amazing.
To watch you bring to life what has for years, maybe centuries sat in total disrepair is a “masterclass” in perseverance, dedication, and enthusiasm in the fulfillment of the project!

I almost caught up with your vlog. I could of course have intervened on every episode, you are so wonderful, funny and interesting. But here I wanted to talk about your magnificent hot air balloon chandelier, very typical of what we did under Napoleon III and which corresponds for the English to the Victorian era. I am also very attentive to your garden, which is my passion and which has been my sector of activity for many years. Ah...! and of course, I can't forget your adorable little four-legged friends; Aren’t these little wonders cute? What a joy to see all these little people evolving in this peaceful setting.
I had a clock like that, but the works were missing and the pendulum. We ended up donating it to an elderly man who worked on clocks as a hobby. I’m sure he brought it back. We have an extensive clock collection and we just hadn’t the room for it, sadly. It went to a good caretaker. Nonetheless, I do have a little case of the green eyed monster. Love them.

I know this is going to sound perhaps a little strange given the fact that I do realize the walls are old and the covering is old and changed dramatically over time. That said, I love that color! It comes across as a kind of faded rose/peach. Just love it.
I have never seen a chandelier with stags. I really like it, especially the pinecone lights the stages are gripping.

The chandeliers are lovely and unusual. The clocks are equally beautiful and I am impressed with Patrick knowledge of clock repair. I LOVE both chandeliers but the second one had something that appealed to me when usually I don’t. My favorite part were the surrounds for the light 💡. It had an old chainmail look to it that just goes with a chateau’s historical perspective. Lovely and masculine at the same time. ❤
