I have both as well! And I have to bring in another metric which is very personal. Aesthetics! The EVO SL is the better looking shoes! If I feel fired up for a speed session, legs feel fresh, the adidas is my preference! But I want a nice clear sunny day for that. Since I’m half of the year in Europe and half of the year in Bali I’m savouring my evo sl for my social run sessions in hipster Canggu Bali. But the Asics is the better allrounder. It’s the easier pick! It covers recovery runs, long runs, daily easy runs. And I have the Superblast 2 for more serious tempo workouts and thresholds sessions. My old metaspeed sky Paris are for speed work, and overall faster runs. Now, for me the Evo SL is giving me an insight of how their race shoes will feel, hence for my race in March I have 4 shoes I’m considering, metaspeed edge, Adios pro 4, On spray-on shoes and the Alpha fly 3. I won’t buy all of them, that’s absurd, so I have to carefully figure this out. In terms of looks, the Alpha fly is the least pretty. And I don’t want to wear Nike if I don’t have to. The rest are equally tied. It’s just a matter of choice at this point.
Man, you're one of the most entertaining reviewers out there !! Great job; I appreciate very much your advice and detailed videos. Keep up the good work !
Thanks Aubrey, was looking forward to this comparison. My first marathon in 2022 used just the Endorphin Speed for everything, buying running shoes is addictive - will be a rotation for my second. Hopefully get the EVO SL even cheaper with sales and discount codes!
Any comment on the stability? The platform of the Novablast looks more stable, but would love to know if one feels more stable than the other on an actual run.
I find them both stable for the kind of paces I do. I don’t have a single complaint on either. They are fairly similar in that regard. As always the lower stack will always be more stable scientifically but I didn’t notice any significant difference
It’s really hard to say because of what you’ve said but I would definitely try it first. I have a very average foot size and shape so I don’t want to mislead you
I managed to get a pair of the Evo SL (from Prodirect) and they are great. I have only really done easy / steady runs with hill sprints (I normally use Puma Velocity 2 for these runs). The plusher, softer midsole worried me at first and I wondered whether they would suit hill sprints - but I soon relaxed into them. I was surprised at how “high” they felt - I clearly wouldn’t be one for Superblast or Prime X!!
Soon hill sprints tomorrow and will do it in the Novablast 5 to see how they cope and will report back. I might do some reps in the EVO SL just to see how they match up
Nice review! I actually watched one of your videos about running a marathon with non plated shoes and it's great info as well. Now question is, does evo SL also falls into those option in running a marathon as a non plated shoe and just by doing marathons on easy paces? Thanks!
Thanks for watching the other videos as well, I appreciate that. And no, I would t run a marathon in the SL because it’s not a speed shoe or a max cushion shoe. I’d rather choose one of those as opposed to going with an in-between shoe
Honestly, I don’t see a difference in these 2 when it comes to stability: as for versatility they are also closely matched but I think I would do much more in the Evo SL

Thank you sir… actually come to think about it I have seen you in one. Hadn’t noticed. With your kind of running I think you should give the Adios Pro 4 a serious go!
Interesting - prices seem to be the inverse in the US - EVO SL $150 while the NB5 $140. At this price point i plan to just get both. Already have the NB5 preodered. But to be honest, they could be $200 and i would probably get both lol
@@AubreyRunning - How did you find the Pro 4? From the Believe in the Run review, thinking I'm not quick enough to get the most out it - likely get another pair of Pro 3 on sale. Still - no bad options here eh?
Both appear to be very good shoes. I have the NB4 and the Superblast 2 and the SL2 and the Pro 3, and I like them all, so I'd probably like both, but because I already have very similar shoes I'll probably not get either.
All of it depends on what the use case is but yes they are usable and comfortable enough. If comfort is what you’re after, then there are better shoes for that by both brands.
I can appreciate the comparison and i think its a valid one, but given that i cant even buy the Evo SL until march (unless i win the chance to buy one in a draw), Novablast is a pretty easy winner for me
Don't want to be negative but as rooting for your chanel id like to point that you might be trying to do to much .... to much shoe review content without really doing enough testing .... one day review and next day comparison on shoe that you had about 2 short runs in - is more like unboxing and stating specs really and not review .... more and more chanels do that unfortunately- shoe is fully rewied and chanel goes to next one after running in it for 20-30 ks ... It might be good for shortly getting views and subs but dont think its good long term strategy- only saying - all the best

I would have gone with the Evo SL until they did that “Hype Drop” huge turn off marketing tactic so I won’t be investing in it regardless of its quality. Novablast all day anyways as they offer 25% off for military veterans.
What you SHOULD get?… EVO SL. What you CAN get?… Novablast 5. If Adidas manages not to limit the release the EVO SL like the Asics SB2 then its a no-brainer.
Zoomfly 6 is a more expensive plated trainer. Would be better to compare with Mizuno Neo Vista, Hoka Mach X2, Puma Deviate Nitro 3 or from Adidas the Boston 12. Adidas EVO SL competitors for example: Novablast 5, Hoka Mach 6, NB Rebel V4
@@Kirmukarmu Sorry to say you are wrong. Adidas EVO SL advertise the shoe as non plated for propulsion 😉 Their is only a small piece of plastic in the midfoot for stabilization. You don't bend it in the forefoot area.

I love this breakdown! Excellent insight
Adidas killed it with Evo SL. price and performance and even aesthetic. Tri-fector. Gonna win many people over from other brands.
Love that description… what would you rate each of those of 3 things out of 10?

A duel I didn’t even think about. Dangit…… lol. Might need to check out Adidas- it’s been so long since I’ve ran in adidas!
As I always say, at least try it. But as I should be saying… YOU DONT NEED ANYMORE NEW SHOES SIS 😂😂😂
@ HAHAHAHAHAHA
Great comparison! Its crazy how the pricing is so close.
Absolutely! You can not go wrong with either of these
Glad you know Cambodia
Of course 🫶
The winner is easy.
You can actually buy one shoe and the other has artificially limited release for no reason other than to build hype.
Fuck Adidas
Not sure about the ending statement 😂😂😂. But you’re are right about the practicality of the decision.
@AubreyRunning maybe I could be less aggressive next time.
But I probably won't be 😁
Hi Aubrey, which one is more stable? And which one is more versatile for both slower and moderate paces? Thank you so much. Love ur videos.
Honestly, I don’t see a difference in these 2 when it comes to stability: as for versatility they are also closely matched but I think I would do much more in the Evo SL
Love the review! Thanks for sharing!
Are both shoes good for heel strikers?
Yes for sure. I wouldn’t worry about that in these shoes, but truthfully it would all be personal
To be used as a daily trainer - the EVO SL or the Pro 3 (when on sale!)?
Depends on your preference but for me, I’d still prefer the EVO SL and leave the pro 3 or 4 for races
you think the SL2 is a must have at 90 USD? Or just save and wait for the EVO SL next year?
I have the Cloudmonster 2 and the 1080v12 (new runner)
I actually have never ran in the SL2 so would be hard to advice
EVO sl looks fantastic! Best looking shoe out there now. (Who doesn’t cost 500€!:-)

Evo sl is your daily trainer and daily casual shoes. Same feel with the sl2.
Hard to comment on this one because I haven’t tried the SL 2
SL LOOKS great - I really like the look, but I’m still waiting for the AAP4
Depending on what you already have… they are both great shoes and do very different things. If I could only buy one I’d say the Pro 4 wins
