There are 4 screws that can be accessed from the back to remove the LCD plinth from the front of the keyboard without removing the button PCB or the keyboard. The 2 square cutouts on the back panel give you access. Need a long magnetic screwdriver.

There are 3 on the left side 4 on the right and 5 along the rear hinge line . Do not remove the non lock screws they hold the circuit boards and the key bed .” Important “. On the joy stick side on the rear there is an access hole look and you will see a deep screw remove it . Next on the 3.5 drive side you have to remove the only non lock screws you’ll remove and take the lower trim Panel for the drive off . Then carefully flip the keyboard over with a hand flat on the back . DO NOT LIFT FROM THE SIDES. Then when flipped over , lift from the sides . Everything is easy access . Note 2 the display removes with two screws one is clearly visible the other is though an access hole though the switch board located in the upper hinges panel . Hope this helps . So much easier . Good video. You have a good strategy for staying organized with all the screws during the dissassembly process. Regarding the lcd: are you sure you have to replace your middle ic controller? It is more likely that once you have taken the lcd apart, the "zebra' strips which connect the lcd glass to the circuit board aren't connectiing properly to the lcd circuit board gold contacts or the lcd glass.
haven't replace the middel IC yet. but thank u for ur advise,I will try to align pcb contact first. My first tought was no picture in the middle square that supposed to be handle by middle IC controller. I hope I was wrong, big effort to replace the IC :) thank u .
Ive worked on about 100 keyboards in my day, this is one of the worst ever to take apart and then put back together. Took over 5 hours to take apart, then replaced about 12 switches, and glued 3 plastic buttons. The buttons on this thing are a very bad design. I used some glue called Zap-A-Gap and it seemed to work well, I doubt many other glues would work on this cheesy hard plastic. I replaced the El backlight by clipping the leads to the old one, and slid the new one over it. However, it took 7 hours to reassemble the I3 and upon completion, the I3 was fixed perfectly, EXCEPT FOR THE BACKLIGHT. Im very disappointed! So either my solder joint was bad, the thing powering the backlight was out, or the backlight I got from HongKong was shit. I will not spend another 13 hours trying to get the backlight to work. I guess a little velcro and a nightlight will have to do. :( update: well I just figured out I put the el backlight in upside down! Would have been nice if the ebay seller would have included instructions! DAMN!
I have a Roland G 1000 and it is developing a problem with the LCD display in that the colour is fading from blue to a yellow brown and can hardly read it, it is strange that if I lean back I can see that the writing looks normal but leaning forward when I want to edit it looks pale I can hardly make it out, maybe it is only the light or something more serious, I have searched everywhere for a part, part no, ROHM RCM6018 upon looking around to try to find a part for it or maybe a generic brand Roland Corporation were of no help. Do you think that if the light goes out the keyboard would be totally unusable? hoping my request is not too much trouble await your reply Kind regards Noeline
Thanks for sharing. My PA800 KORG arranger LCD contrast/brightness oscillates from dim to normal, back and forth, for as long as the keyboard is on. The oscillation frequency is about 2 seconds per cycle. Any ideas?
i found it on ebay.com : EL backlight. but for G600 I believe it is using small LED light from side , maybe some of them died. and check for polarzed film , it is fading along years

polarizer ada 3 macam setahu saya 0 , 45, 90 derajat untuk posisi paling jelas harus di test polarizernya diputar2, masalah di depan atau belakang bisa saja tapi lapisan lemnya ada di mana waktu beli. bawah atau atas.
@@addiengr1 betul sekali mas, kalo pake kacamata di rotate 90 drajat baru jelas tulisan nya.. masalah nya saya mau bongkar dan lepas polarizer nya dari dalam ga berani.. (keyboard nya masih kayak baru krn cuma disimpan di hardcase, cuma masalah di polarizer ini saja) apa ada info dimana saya bisa dapet polarizer untuk di tempel di luar touch screen nya saja hanya supaya bisa liat info layar nya? sekali lagi terima kasih banyak buat respon dan info nya... appreciate it..
@@papankunci bisa beli polirezer film punya screen laptop atau monitor PC, saya potong sesuai kebutuhan. kalo polarizer aslinya korg mungkin sudah gak ada atau harus pesan ke luar.

iya sebagian ada yg pakai layar LCD dot matrix. tidak pakai backlight. cek awal koneksi solderan tua yg korosi atau sambungan semua kabel. kerusakannya bgmn
You didn't have to take the lcd apart if there was nothing wrong with the text. You risk damage to the lcd when you do that. You could just desolder, clip, and insulate the old leads and then slide the new backlight over top of it and solder the new leads to the old lcd pads.

It’s not the IC.
It’s the zebra rubber contact strips needs realigning to give good contacts.

Lines appear if the zebra rubber connectors (black one) not aligned correctly, or blocked with dust/dirt.
