Superb video once again, glad your still loving it, I'm stuck over in Ireland working so not driven mine since September 2020,looking to get back to the UK next month and can't wait to get my hands on my mighty m2, thanks for the content buddy keep pushing the videos out, I just love em.
M2 manual 2017 tax £490, insurance £730, brakes need changing the same time as the rotors and they are £2700 alone which no one ever mentions, monthly payment £520 for 5 years then you own the car, 648 pound for a major service
@@realtorque Iv not done it yet I just went in with my eyes open, on the forums people are saying 30k to 50k but it’s hard to tell for obvious reasons but that seems the consensus, these people tracking and adding more aggressive pads will be in for a big shock 😂
@@rscholey85 very nice! Yeah I’m hoping to get a a few miles out of mine before the brakes are changed! Yeah m2’s now are just staying same as in price and becoming very desirable! Sounds like you have a beauty mate!
@@realtorque I’m really happy with it it’s not my daily but I think everyone should experience something like it once in there life even if they just rent one, it’s an experience I can only imagine what a Porsche drives like since they are better in every way apparently but I have kids and the m2 fits child seats in no problem
That excitement you mention is what a lot of people get screwed over by when talking about r35 gtr’s … they seem so affordable to alot of people but then the maintenance costs come up and it’s a reality shock… I’ve nearly paid off my 140 fully now and tempted to go to an og M2 like yours… Just don’t know if it’s worth it and practical enough.
Saving up now for an M2 comp hopefully gonna be able to in a couple years. But will not pull the plug unless im 100% confident my salary can manage it. Gonna get 10k for mt 225d, gonna have 15k savings and gonna HP/low rate loan the rest so should work out between 2/300 a month for 5 years, but no balloon at the end. With working from home I probably only drive, about 3k miles a year so thinking on my 30k salary I should still be able to afford it. The gf pays for our fuel as she doesn't do any driving.
I have a Seat Ibiza FR and was thinking to part exchanging it for an M2/3/4. After hearing this breakdown, I feel like I'd be better off keeping my seat and looking for a cheaper M car
Saying things are more frequent isn't true, the main dealer service intervals are every 2 years rather than 1 with most other cars. (Mileage dependent of course)
Definitely a bit more than I thought. Would have been useful if you put a tally at the end compared to M140i costs. That would give it some perspective.
Hey buddy! The m2 is more expensive than an m140i in pretty much every way. Tyres cost more (bigger tyres). Overall up keep is more too, down to servicing costing more and having to do it more regularly. Average fuel consumption is around 10-15mpg less. Things like brakes are of course more, being bigger too and of course insurance is more down to it being I higher category. In my opinion, the m140i would probably cost (not including car costs on payments) around £3,500-£4,000 a year
Not too bad! Everyone has different perspectives but if you are financing a luxury car you can’t afford it in general. You should be able to buy the car in cash with no financing and it shouldn’t really have an impact on you.
Good vid mate, nice to see you again lol, will be helpful to anyone thinking of buying one. Be good to see some dragy times as I’d be interested to see 0-60, 20-70 mate.
I’ve owned m135, m140, and an m2, now driving a Vauxhall insignia. Money pits they are. I’m on 60K a year, I’m happy driving my insignia now. Albeit not as fun, not as showy. I’m done with the show thing now. Good luck kids impressing people around your town 🤣👍 costing you 11k a year 😬 put your money into property! And buy one cash 👍😎
Atleast you’ve experienced it! I’m only doing it now whilst I can before I have kids so would rather get it out of my system while I can. For me, it’s just a genuine passion
@@Nades- I don’t regret as I loved them I have experienced it as the guy is saying which is fair enough. But if I could go back in time I would not do it again unless I could pay cash
@matt i be honest I always wanted a m car or performance car audi merc and I got myself a astra 1.4 2018 150 bhp I find it quick enough can't imagine the speed of these m cars also I need to save alot even more now finding out the average running costs are crazy
Figures are pretty much spot on with mine mate, I’ve got extended warranty and the RTTI sub on top as well though🤦♂️ It’s got to be done to get the best out of these if you’re dailying them or it’s your only car. Cost wise, It’s no different to running 2 decent cars.
How is the driving experience/fun compared to your FK8? I know the FK8 is supposed to be incredibly involving so it would be cool to know how they compare. Glad to see another video! Keep it up
This is a difficult question! Right first of all my biggest regret is not buying a manual one, a lot of engagement lost just by that. The type r is incredibly capable, fun, engaging and bloody quick around some twisty lanes. The type is very easy for anyone to drive quickly and isn’t a car where, if you get it wrong your in big trouble. My one biggest let down with the type r is the sound... now the m2... is very much the same as the type r, doesn’t feel as sharp but the rwd and sound do make up for it massively. It’s a tough one. But from a pure driving experience. Manual m2 all day
@@realtorque Thanks for the detailed response! Good to hear from someone who's owned both. I am sure manual would make a big difference as it does with most cars for engagement. Hopefully one day I'll get an M2, gotta save and be able to get insured first!
No, don't go and drive one! Or you'll do what I have just done and sign the paperwork and it's sitting outside my flat ready to go! I fackin love it! And someone of 62 should know better!
Imagine putting that amount money into Tesla shares in 2018. You can buy the car outright or put bigger deposit down. Food for thought….get investing people can change your life in less then 5 years
What videos would you like to see next on the M2?
What the cabin noise like , can you measure it please
I think it’s expensive to run any car nowadays. Not just an M2.
Great video mate. I new I couldn’t afford one, but seeing these figures really is a reality check.
I’ll soldier on with my diesel 👍🏻
Thanks buddy!!!

1200 GBP per year is a steal, in sweden a m2 costs about 2500-3600 GBP to insure a m2

In Ireland that car would cost €1400 a month and €1200 a year for tax and about €100 a week for petrol

Did this have the m performance exhaust or just standard?
Yes just stock buddy
Great video! An M2 could be my next step from my M140. Either that or a Cayman I reckon.
