I’m a messy gardener. We should start a club! The Messy Garden Girls! Seriously, your garden is beautiful. Thank you for the tour. Jeff is great behind the camera! Thank you, Jeff!
Congratulations on participating in the Garden tour Amanda! Jeff great job. Thanks for the close ups. That Triumph petunia is so pretty 😍 It’s Go time in the garden! 🪴🌱👩🌾
Fantastic job, Jeff! Amanda, your tour was wonderful. You gave me so many great ideas to try here in Houston! If you made a video every day, it would be a dream come true for all of your viewers!! Thank you for being so real and for explaining everything you do so well. Linda 💚💚
I really loved videos like this when I was a beginner, so I could see what plants looked like in the garden, & what they looked like in other seasons! I still like them but just wanted to tell you that, hecause I'm sure it's very helpful for beginners!
Great tour! I am also messy and appreciate “real life” tours. I am ADD so I have projects all over in various stages. Drives some people nuts, but it is just how I roll.
It's so nice to help your wife , Jeff. I am sure she loves you being a part of her journey. Amanda, I believe you are correct in taking that triangle down..right now it just looks out of place. Looking forward to all you do
Good job Jeff! Great spring garden tour and always love your transparency on what worked and what didn't. I remember when you planted all those tulips and sorry they didn't do so well. I don't think tulips and Texas ever do well together. Let our gardeners in the NE and NW have them. Love all your daffodils and the pot of alyssums are divine!
Wow! You have so many plants that overwintered beautifully. I just planted my ranunculus out a week ago. I'm in a cooler zone but may try overwintering next year. The shade garden is going to be fantastic. Anxious to see what you are planning for the large wire container.
Thanks Jeff!! You aren't the only one whose tulips didn't do well. Many youtubers have short tulips this year. I think a lot of people are turning away from them. The problem is they're so colorful, colors that daffodils just can't match. I'm waiting to see if the small amount I planted this year bloom like I hoped. We had some good days in Feb that I was able to get some cleanup done, however I still feel behind. I like your plan to do a section at a time. This year it seems like we're always dodging rain.
It'great job Jeff! You are bless to have someone who supports you! Beautiful garden, can't wait for my zone to warm up a little bit more 8b N. Florida. Thank you for sharing!
❤ as always i just love your videos and the rocks!!!! Awesome... you should look up rock garden beds since you wanna get rid of the grass lol... they are beautiful.. and i just now have my greenhouse together and added some cinder blocks for shelving and now i will get to do some fun stuff in there 😂🎉 and I am a messy gardner too lol love the truth and no faking haha .. thanks Amanda! 😊
How about adding a piece of stained glass to the top middle section of the honeysuckle trellis. It would look beautiful and add some interest to the trellis (which is beautiful)!!
Nice job Jeff! Tulips definitely are not easy, I do have a couple of pots that I planted up late and believe it or not seem to be doing well 🤞 have a great week!
Great job on the video Jeff! If your trailing lantana does not come back, you could try it in the ground. Most varieties are only hardy down to zone 8-9. That container may not be enough insulation. I'm in San Antonio area and mine comes back each year in the ground. I've never tried it in pots, because they get so massive down here. My trailing purple has gotten 6'+ in diameter the last couple of summers. I'm thinking of booting it for that reason, I don't really have 6' to dedicate to one plant/shrub! 😆
Tulips are my top favorite flower. I am starting to move towards the direction of mostly daffodils and summer snowflakes as they don't require chilling down here in San Antonio. It kills me to not have tulips, but they are so much work. I might try doing smaller pots of them tucked into the garden using inspiration from Claus Dalby. I find they tend to not perform as well if they're planted too closely together and if water isn't as consistent. I think our up and down temperatures also make it much harder on them.
Hey Amanda! Gardening in my Alabama zone 8B, I was also able to overwinter several of my plants. Are you confident in transplanting any of your hardy annuals “snapdragons”, by transplanting I really mean moving locations in the garden?? What do think, or is it too late for us already…? The plants are 18 or so inches tall, and I didn’t cut them back in the fall. Thanks to all for any input. And thank you for you Amanda for your time and the content you share, it nice to know someone that Gardens like me (projects and mess continue, I don’t think a garden is ever finished thankfully…) I admire your courage and perseverance.
My tulips did well. I don't know other than I chilled them for at least a couple of months before planting. They were newly purchased, not in the ground from previous years. Maybe that makes a difference, not sure, SW Arkansas.
Wonderful tour of your Beautiful Garden. If you would add location that would be so helpful. What direction does the front of your beds face? Thank you for sharing all your information.
Great job of videography, Jeff. It's wonderful that you are supportive of the gardening passion. Amanda, from which direction does your ruby falls redbud get sun? I read they need part shade?
I was curious, and I hope you don’t mind me asking, but, since you have taken up much of the yard and patio with plants, where do your children play and the family relax?
This yard was never appropriate for my family’s use due to the drainage issues and the size. My kids are much older and they prefer to play basketball in the front of the house and spend time with their friends in the front as well. My husband and I relax at the table and chairs on my front porch.
My tulips never grow. I understand your disappointment. My hyacinth didn’t come up at all. My alliums are sprouting but I’m yet to see a bloom (fingers crossed). I’m not messing with bulbs anymore. I just can’t get them to grow or bloom.
I’m in same county, different city. This weather has been wackier than usual… there is no “usual” for Texas weather anymore. LOL. 90+ degrees one day and freezing the next! Fingers crossed that was the only “Easter” snap we will have.
How do you keep your dogs out of your beds??? I’m always babysitting my dog when he is in the yard to keep him from either eating or peeing on the plants.
I do t usually deal with slugs but years ago I used Sluggo … however I’ve since realized that my dogs could get into that, so I will have to look for something else if I have slugs again.
When you do a video about chrysanthemums, I'd love it if you could talk about - "how to tell which chrysanthemums will over winter". I tried putting a few in the ground to overwinter, but i guess they were the wrong type and they died. I don't know how to identify the 'right' ones.
I’m assuming you already refrigerate your tulip bulbs? I just heard people in warmer climates do that because they don’t get enough cold nights for them to do well.

Yes!!! Messy gardeners unite!
Can I join? ❤😅😂
So nice how supportive your husband is. He is at work behind the scenes
He is a good person!
Congratulations on participating in the Garden tour Amanda! Jeff great job. Thanks for the close ups. That Triumph petunia is so pretty 😍 It’s Go time in the garden! 🪴🌱👩🌾
Thanks so much!
You can’t get rid of perfectly good rocks. You just can’t. Nice find!
You got that right!
So do you use Christmas lights to keep the plants/ground warm?
So lovely!!! And Jeff always does an amazing job, love how he cheers you on!!!
Thanks!
Fantastic job, Jeff! Amanda, your tour was wonderful. You gave me so many great ideas to try here in Houston!
If you made a video every day, it would be a dream come true for all of your viewers!! Thank you for being so real and for explaining everything you do so well. Linda 💚💚
Aww thanks Linda!
Always love your garden tours! Thanks to you and your husband for sharing it with us again!
Our pleasure!
I always learn something new when I watch your videos. Thanks! Enjoyed the tour!
Glad to hear it!
Hi Jeff! You married a wonderful gardener!! We love watching her!
❤️❤️❤️
Hey Jeff! The penny blue violas are gorgeous. Everything is looking good. Thanks for the tour.
Thank you!
Ooooh, I can't wait for an in-person garden tour. I hope I'm in town and available. Great job, Jeff!
I hope so too!
I really loved videos like this when I was a beginner, so I could see what plants looked like in the garden, & what they looked like in other seasons! I still like them but just wanted to tell you that, hecause I'm sure it's very helpful for beginners!
Aww thanks!

Same!
You are not alone 😂 some areas I just call my “chaos garden”
Such a beautiful tour my friend, so nicely elaborated everything 👌👌
Thank you so much 🙂
It's so nice to help your wife , Jeff. I am sure she loves you being a part of her journey. Amanda, I believe you are correct in taking that triangle down..right now it just looks out of place. Looking forward to all you do
👍Jeff❣️
I think so too!
Well done Jeff!! And Amanda too, of course!😊
Thanks!
I LOVE the the daff, snowdrop, muscari, pansy border. Stunning!
Thanks!
I need to remember no tulips next year!
Your early spring garden looks nice!
Thank you!
Wow! You have so many plants that overwintered beautifully. I just planted my ranunculus out a week ago. I'm in a cooler zone but may try overwintering next year. The shade garden is going to be fantastic. Anxious to see what you are planning for the large wire container.
It worked for my garden as we don’t have many freezes and we have such early hot weather in the spring which stops their growth.
Love your channel. Good job, Jeff! Lovely gardens.
Thanks so much!
This is such a fun time of the year. Going out every morning to see whats new. You petunia was just gorgeous!
I agree, so fun!
I stopped planting tulips also. I've seen a lot of gardening videos about short, not coming up tulips this year; mostly the early blooming ones.
Yeah such a bummer
5 new plants I “must” go get now😂🌺🤦♀️ Great video, can’t wait for more!! Great job Jeff, thanks for helping her help us!!🙌
Thanks for watching!
Oh my gosh! That petunia is insanely beautiful!
I love it!
Thanks Jeff!!

Thanks for the info! Yeah I’m not sure what ended up happening with the tulips but I can’t warrant spending more money on them for next year.
It is a great garden tour video 😇!
Glad you think so!
Good job Jeff!
Thanks!
It'great job Jeff! You are bless to have someone who supports you! Beautiful garden, can't wait for my zone to warm up a little bit more 8b N. Florida. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you!
ROCKS TO THROW AWAY?!?!? My DREAM neighbor!!!
Right?!?!
Thanks for the tour! Great job Jeff on the video 👏👏👏👏 your garden is going to look full and beautiful
Thanks!
❤ love today's tour..zone 9, south Georgia and we are blooming ❤️

😊Jeff did great. You are blessed.
I think so too!
I think the clematis climbing throught the bush is a fabulous idea! Thanks for sharing😊❤
I hope it works!
First time viewer great job by everyone!
Yay! Welcome to the channel!
Thumbs up Jeff.
❤️❤️❤️

Good to know about the lantana, thanks!
Great job with the recap of how things are doing. Jeff you were spot on.
❤️❤️❤️
Great job Jeff
Thanks!
Way to go Jeff! Great job.
Thanks!
I think an arch shape over the shade garden door would be nice. Or nothing! 😊
Yeah I’m just not feeling the current shape 🤷♀️
@@shesamadgardener and maybe not just over the door. Over the whole wall. It may help the plant you want to grow on it.
Great video 😊 good job Jeff
Thanks!

I definitely was not consistent with water 😬
First order of business: tie those sweet peas. And keep cutting the blooms. Like, every day.
They have put on so much growth so quickly! I’ll try to get them tied up asap.
Love!!!
Thanks!
Yay Jeff👍👍😄😄
❤️❤️❤️
Yeah! 🎉❤Go Jeff!!
❤️❤️❤️
I'm in zone 5 and I've learned from planting early to not! It's so unpredictable in western Pa and I surely don't listen to weather reports either
Yeah our weather is crazy in this area!
Hey Amanda! Gardening in my Alabama zone 8B, I was also able to overwinter several of my plants. Are you confident in transplanting any of your hardy annuals “snapdragons”, by transplanting I really mean moving locations in the garden?? What do think, or is it too late for us already…? And thank you for you Amanda for your time and the content you share, it nice to know someone that Gardens like me (projects and mess continue, I don’t think a garden is ever finished thankfully…) I admire your courage and perseverance.
I think you could move them … just try to get as much of the surrounding soil as possible so as not to disturb the roots so much.
My tulips did well. I don't know other than I chilled them for at least a couple of months before planting.
They were newly purchased, not in the ground from previous years. Maybe that makes a difference, not sure, SW Arkansas.
Mine are brand new too … tulips are just so hit or miss in my area due to the warm winters.
Wonderful tour of your Beautiful Garden. If you would add location that would be so helpful. What direction does the front of your beds face? Thank you for sharing all your information.
Ugh, I keep forgetting that! I’ll try to remember next time, thanks!
Go Jeff. 👍
Thanks!
Loved garden video. I've changed zones based on USDA changes. I was 8b and now 9a. Have you changed?
I went from 8a to 8b …. I just call it 8 🤷♀️
Great job of videography, Jeff. It's wonderful that you are supportive of the gardening passion.
Amanda, from which direction does your ruby falls redbud get sun? I read they need part shade?
It faces west.
It faces west so it gets morning shade and afternoon full sun.

It’s been a weird winter … I think it was just too warm in my area.
They just don’t go in them 🤷♀️ … I think dogs each have their own quirks, mine love to get on furniture but don’t mess with my garden.
Did you cold treat them in your fridge first? Try that before completely giving up on Tulips.
Yes, they were in the fridge for over 12 weeks.
Wow! You already have so much going on. So exciting! How do you treat for slugs? I think they have eaten my scabiosa.
I do t usually deal with slugs but years ago I used Sluggo … however I’ve since realized that my dogs could get into that, so I will have to look for something else if I have slugs again.
lovey tour and explanation. In the areas that you have both your weeping redbuds, is that West facing or gets afternoon shade? Would love to know
I have heard that these weeping redbud need some afternoon shade, so was wondering about your layout Amanda !!
Mine faces west … it gets morning shade and afternoon sun.
When you do a video about chrysanthemums, I'd love it if you could talk about - "how to tell which chrysanthemums will over winter". I tried putting a few in the ground to overwinter, but i guess they were the wrong type and they died. I don't know how to identify the 'right' ones.
I can do that! But the best thing you can do is to only purchase mums that have a tag noting the hardy zones. They are harder to find.
I’m assuming you already refrigerate your tulip bulbs? I just heard people in warmer climates do that because they don’t get enough cold nights for them to do well.
Yes, they were in the fridge for more than 12 weeks.
Amanda do you start delphinium in the dark? I read that you should but it’s my first year growing. Thanks
I have a video on my process with delphinium! ua-cam.com/video/LeN-fWTkX7M/v-deo.htmlsi=EZ5pppWu_2GKld1S
how many Alyssum are in the container? it looks stunning
It was 3-4 little plants to start
👍
❤️❤️❤️
Hi Amanda ~ I wanted to buy a few things from your Amazon store but it didn’t connect (might be me) but wanted to give you heads up 🌱
Hmm, I’ll go check that out! Thanks!
I think I got it fixed!
👍🏾
❤️❤️❤️
Hi!
❤️❤️❤️
I am with you. No more tulips. Disappointing
Great job Jeff!
Yeah, I need to skip them next year.
This seems to be a bad year for tulips for some reason……everyone is reporting a fail !
Ugh that’s unfortunate!
Good job Jeff!
Thanks!
