Thank you very much. I enjoy watching the Shield->Armor->Hull going away way more than makes sense on any rational level. Maybe it's just from solo roaming where it takes hours to get a kill, and something about having them stuffed together feels so good. It's rare I have a good HAW Dread fight and don't feel great for the rest of the day.

@@Cryton12345 have you done multibox pvp? I do it with 3 accounts and these solo pvp fits cannot be used, it's too much micro per account, maybe you can put a repper on 1 of the accounts but positioning and firing on the right target with 3 accounts is hard enough to handle

Sick fights man. Phoenix is insanely strong. Wouldn't have made a difference under that much DPS but if you get the right fight the dual capital cap booster fit is god tier tank.

I had actually been having a crappy day until I got this fight, and I have been training Lasker into HAW Phoenix for about 6 months, very glad you enjoyed, hope your day improves.
Been looking forward to this since i saw the reddit post. Wish i was there to join in on the fun.
You’ve inspired me to train into a HAW Phoenix. People say they suck, but clearly that’s not the case. Out of curiosity, why did you let them take you way down into armor before you started repping your shields? Seems like it’d be better to save that little bit of extra buffer in case things go sideways later (not that it would have done much good against the NC anti-cap cap fleet).
Phoenix are so so cap dreads, but fantastic HAW Dreads. When you are fighting a 1 v Many battle, there is no way to hold the many on the field, they are only there to the extent that they think the fight is good/fun. If it looks like you are breaking under the damage, that can make them more keen to stick around and keep fighting. One thing that works out well for me, because I like pushing the limits and seeing how much I can take on, I often AM breaking under the DPS, so it's a nice believable story :)

Really glad you enjoyed. Not ISK positive, as 4.3B lost and only 3.1B destroyed (and I did not destroy all of it, as NC also killed some of the Imperium stuff), still was a ton of fun, so I was glad I was able to get this fight.
Late to the party, I know. But looking at all those ships you busted up, did you wind up coming out isk positive? Just curious because I'm in love with that phoenix build.
It was mostly cheap stuff that I killed, it was something like 1b destroyed to 3b lost, so not even close. Can't complain though, it was a fun fight, and there is always the next one.

Thank you. When you are fighting a ton of dudes by yourself, there is no way to hold them on grid if they don't want to be there. It's quite difficult to tell if someone is bleeding armor because they are bait tanking, or because they are slowly breaking under the damage. Amazing fight. With other dreads on grid it was obvious the tank will fail but you could face everything subcap for a very looong time and kill everything very quickly. Awesome!

I know you're nervous while you do this but the video would be a lot better if you zoomed the camera around some during the fight and had some different shot angels, and had explosions enabled some of the time. Awesome song and great matching it to the video. Can't wait until your next video

Thank you, this is one of the first times I was genuinely pleased with my bait tanking, if you do it right it looks exactly as if you are slowly breaking (which honestly I often am as I like to push the limits of what the ships are capable of)

Only other thing i would recommend is set up a permanent window near your cap for your fleet hangar to drag boosters straight in

pardon my newb question but what advantage is there in bait tanking? Is it to give them confidence that they don't need to call for more backup? Otherwise I don't understand the purpose. sorry.. been away from the game for 4 years and just getting back into it.
In case Lasker doesnt see it i'll put in my 2 cents. You would want to bait tank to prevent the enemy from disengaging. By making them think that they are actually breaking his tank his enemies will most likely stay in the field longer just to get that kill....in fact he is just luring them to their death and was never in real danger. If Lasker would just top himself to 100% all the time they would have just left right away due to lack of dps, or immediately escalate with captials.

This is really it, in a 1 v 30 or 1 v 40 scenario, there is no way to hold the opposing gang on field, the only thing that keeps them in the fight is the desire to be there. They think it will be either a good fight for them, or fun, or both. If you can look like you are breaking under the damage then they are often a lot more keen to stick around and fight. One thing that works well for me, since I tend to try to take on as much as I possibly can, I often AM breaking under the damage, so it makes it nice and believable. In a little bit I am going to post the same video with the Imperium comms, and you can hear them discussing it.
Yeah i fit up a rapid torp Phoenix a few weeks ago been to lazy to cyno it around. That was a pretty epic fight though dude.

That was great. I'm amazed at how well those torps apply to that small stuff. Shame the range/reload is such a drawback. If u come up against a kiting gang it would be painful
I was a little amazed too. These torps shoot out to 50 normally, you can switch to javalin torps which give range out to 75, and you can swap the MGC from an application script to a range script.

Where do people get this kind of isk for solo dread with shiny gear?
When you first start out playing, making any amount of ISK seems like a huge task. SP is low, accumulated capital is low, and the returns per hour on a lot of relative new bro activities is relatively small. When you get further into the game and you have developed skill points, know how, and accumulate some capital and can do something like market trading, Rorq mining, or super ratting, the returns come in MUCH faster, and it makes it a much less daunting task to do. If you can Quad box mining Rorqs the income per unit time is going to be a lot better than if you mine in a single skiff.

Phoenix seems pretty nutty thus far, it's the last dread I trained, but I am glad now I did it. You can always add it to the queue...

Hindsight is 20/20 of course, but I would advise against hitting Caldari T2 with pure thermal damages :p
You're right of course, but the 20 second reload makes it hard to pick and chose much for individual ships. If it was a fleet of all one thing that would be a much easier choice.
Wouldnt it be a good choice to seperate the launcher and do "rainbow dmg" ? Yes i know two more buttons to hit but maybe more dps by random targets like you have in such fights..

Great question, honestly I was blown away by the damage application, but I want even more :) Might drop the MGC for a 2nd paint, might drop the invuln for a 2nd paint. Was pretty pleased with how it performed, really looking forward to the next round. Were you in the fight?

Yep, on grid, sieged in 87 bubbles not really going anywhere, and this particular fit can't tank 300k DPS :) Would need to do something different earlier to stay out of that situation. Was glad I took the fight though.

What is a HAW?
High Angle Weapon, they are the capital guns that are designed to track subcaps. They have much better application but much lower damage then the normal cap guns you would put on a dread.

High Angle Weapon, they are the Dreadnought weapon systems that have lower damage but better application. They are the guns/launchers that dreads use to fight subcaps.

You will absolutely 100% get dropped on, it's a part of the game. But it does not happen every time, and even when it does sometimes you get an awesome fight out of it.
Guess I just need to man up and finish building out the Rev!
