Best description I’ve seen on the packages offered. I ordered the i4 40 M sport from my local dealer. The dealer knew less about the car than you guys! We had to read each description together then make an uninformed decision. Luckily, this is my third BMW, so I knew some items that are offered, but this is my first electric car.
Very informative video. Thank you for doing this. I am planning to trade my Honda Accord 2019 for a BMW EV and was confused which option in BMW should I go for. This video helped me a lot to narrow down my choices. Thank you again.
I think the sport package compliments the new narrow headlights more than the M package. The clustered front makes it look like a pre-electric bmw like the 3 series. Front of Sport version seems to be far more classy and premium (especially in white)
As a soon 35 y/o male the insurance on M50 is €1400 per year compared to €570 on the 40M (i got quoted on the Mpack option). I rather have the range and save some cash ✌🏻
I thought something looked odd on the BMW website. the edrive40 no longer comes with sport package. I really like that sporty front bumper. Right when I was about to purchase one too. guess I'll just cancel
I really like the regular sport version better the interior roofing is white/beige. Just worried about it getting dirty. Is this a major flag? (Previous c class owner)
I would say they are comparable but Tesla still has an edge when it comes to local driving. Highway driving you shouldn’t be able to tell the difference.
@OptimalEV you can view the external and internal 3D renderings of the car by clicking the little car image in the bottom left from most of the tabs in the configuration tool (your video pip was covering it)
It is my understanding that the Heads up display is actually not available. My order went in last week and they called telling me I couldn't get the HUD due to part shortage
It really depends on the exclusivity of the car. I would say if you want a car that feels like its yours and you don't see others in it daily then the i4 is for you. If you want the convenience of a charging network and some really fun gadgets the Tesla is for you. Overall both are at the top of the list when it comes to an EV for many reasons. Personally I would take an i4 M50 for the exclusivity reason.
@@rezaghaemi1809 Yeah that is a valid concern, BMW still has great tech but doesn't come with a lot of the gadgets. They both have pros and cons it just depends on the type of driver you are and price of course. BMW still qualifies for the tax credit as of now.
Thanks guys... I want a completely leather-free (vegan) car, but I couldn't find the steering wheel material. Which trims are absolutely leather-free? Thank you.
@@optimalev Does this mean it IS only offered in leather? Also, FYI, as a vegan, your suggestion would defeat the entire purpose of NOT having caused the use of the murdered being's skin at all. Thank you...
We understand your point of the car being made with it, I understood your comment as you don’t want to drive a car that has a leather steering wheel. Alcantara is vegan and that would make the car have no leather but yes it would come from the factory with it. I will see if sensatec is available for steering wheels from BMW.
@@optimalev Not just 'drive', but partake in the creation of that car with a leather steering wheel. Period. So you've never said it bas such, but am I to conclude that ALL the steering wheels in the i4 are offered strictly with leather, & nothing else? Thank you...
@@optimalev I'd love to see the i4 40 compared with say a 435d, seeing as on paper, the 435d is quicker. I'm thinking of upgrading from the 435d to the i4 40, but feel like it could be a downgrade in performance. 😕
@@Smith_Tech_70 I feel like even with the 435d having a lot of torque the i4 40 will still feel quicker off the jump because of the instant torque. We wont know until they start getting delivered but looking forward to seeing it in person.
Guys - first you mention that the spoiler will provide downforce and is worth the money and then you say that the wireless charging is worth the $200 option. if the spoiler option is performance critical I would like to believe that BMW would add this simple plastic addition as a standard option for differentiation against competitors. There are so many other options for wireless charging - it's now very common. It should be standard, not a $200 option. This really isn't a good performance/value assessment, it's more of a "let's choose all the options regardless of cost" dreamworks exercise.
Appreciate the comment S 44, in a normal market we would agree that it should be standard but due to chip shortages wireless charging has been a problem in many vehicles. When it comes to the spoiler it does become standard on the i4 m50. It will be body color unless you get the carbon fiber exterior package.
Reminder that this is just a build guide and run down of what the vehicles have to offer. It's important to keep in mind that we don't actually purchase these vehicles, however we still treat them like we might. In this video we don't include the wireless charging and the spoiler comes included in a larger dynamic handling package, hence the good value.
Thanks for the feedback 6speedTA95, the statement was more general for all spoilers. For BMW it is very small on certain models but even on the i4 the slightest change in aero dynamics can effect the range and performance. Although it might be minimal some viewers like to know.
Which car do you think is the better option?
Can you do a video on the i4 vs other competitors?
M50 for me
This is one of the best, most informative and objective presentations on how to select the right trim! thanks so much for this excellent video
I'm debating between these two models and you guys did the BEST job explaining the differences! Even better than the dealer LOL
Glad we could help out.
The information and context can’t get much better than this. A + work

Awesome video boys! You make dummies like me understand cars and all the technical terms. And that cognac leather is sexy as hell.
We love the Cognac as well. Thanks for the feedback Danny you are the smartest human in the world.
The i40 with M Sport gets you more bang for you're money. And it's actually cheaper than a long range Tesla Model 3 plus all the rebates.
To bad the i4 isn’t eligible anymore ):

It sucks they removed the ability to get the Adaptive suspension option on the 2023 i4 e40.
M sport adds the adaptive suspension which is very nice

Unfortunately they have removed it I guess just to keep price down and limited parts of msport. That has been an issue for BMW previously.
I really like the regular sport version better the interior roofing is white/beige. Just worried about it getting dirty. Is this a major flag? (Previous c class owner)
Is active driving assistance pro comparable to the base autopilot included for free in Tesla’s? You guys kinda glossed for the specifics at 8:30.
I would say they are comparable but Tesla still has an edge when it comes to local driving. Highway driving you shouldn’t be able to tell the difference.
I would expect that BMW would make a better car than Tesla. I think if you ask people if price wasn't an issue they would definitely get a BMW.
Definitely gonna be a major competitor if they can produce a lot of vehicles. That is a big question with how the supply chain has been.

Love the backdrop 🔥
Appreciate it Joe
It is my understanding that the Heads up display is actually not available. My order went in last week and they called telling me I couldn't get the HUD due to part shortage
Depending on the model but their are no shortages for i4 and iX I've heard they are saving all parts for those so I wouldn't be worried.
In NYC Up untill last week you could order HUD. But it is not an option any more due to parts shortage.
will there be a tow hitch option in US?
Currently no available tow hitch you would have to go after market with no wiring.
Can you give us your thoughts comparing the i4 40 to Tesla Model 3 LR? I'm interested to hear which car you think is the superior car.
