@@Schesemu128 Everyone and their grandma being Dean, for stealing for so damn long. A guitar I ordered recently showed up in a dean box, felt like telling the delivery guy that I swear their are no Deans in the house. 🤮
I play a Thunderbird through an Orange Terror 500 and 4x10 and it sounds like thunder. My band loves the combination although I have to switch to my Stingray for quieter songs
I picked up my orange Orange O bass today and after lusting for one I'm glad they brought it back . I'm loving it especially the tone that's different than my P bass in a better way IMHO.
Re. the pickup, today I read an interview on Musicradar about that bass. Orange's Adrian Emsley states that the split coil is 8mm closer to the neck compared to the standard P bass spot, as they found it to be a harmonically richer place, according to them. He says it's modelled after standard P specs, wax potted and possibly wound with Formvar wire
The body is a Les Paul Junior guitar shape - that pickup sounds good - head stock shape not my cup of tea but I could over look that for the tone . I'd love more color options.
Awesome demo, Patrick. These basses sounded pretty good. It sounds incredibly punchy. And it sounds phenomenal with effects. I would like to see in other finishes like blue and red. I know they have it in a black finish and it looks real classy. I do see some potential in orange making basses just like peavey. I wish peavey would continue making basses. I’ve always liked their millennium basses.
Or it could be that he was sponsored and paid to say good things about it :/ which kinda sucks that people I used to watch for their content promote products that are of poor quality. I owned this bass and absolutely hated it and had all the same complaints that you had.
@@patrickhunter This is definitely a bass that illicits diametrically different opinions, based largely on it's look.It happens to appeal to me and like you I was shut out of the 1st run.I can understand some won't like the fat neck which admittedly was an odd choice in it's design but I'm man enough to handle it lol.I can personally play any bass set up decently. I actually love this bass, especially it's sound. You are a great player Patrick, and I enjoy your content.
I'd like to see orange use the same body shape but with rickenbacker style pickups or Gibson EB bass style pickups and do both short and long scale options
a neck-diver. I've had two of these. I like them, but frankly, it's a more expensive than it should be for the quality of materials and components. I swapped out the PU for a quarter pounder and the junky tuning machines were replaced too. I can live with most anything, but this is a serious neck-diving bass. You have to hold it up for an entire gig unless you are seated.
Cool lookin bass. I know you're not a fan of Jackson, but give a look at the JS Series Spectra Bass JS2P. I think you might like this one and it's $300.
I have to get one lol! I'm unapologetically a P bass fan boy and I've always wanted a P Bass with a split coil pup closer to the neck. Andddd, for me, the fatter the neck, the better. I am a tad concerned about neck dive simply because I've never experienced it. Does neck dive make a bass unplayable, or is it just a feature you adjust to?
That bridge is the same bridge you get on lower ltd basses, it's a gotoh copy, if they would make one of these in a five string I would probably buy it.
I have been wanting this since it came out. It must be good because it is none used anywhere. As soon as I saw it on your feed I started plotting on selling some basses for it.
Do they make a left handed version? I like the previous suggestion of a Thunderbird style body, but let's get a little quirky and do a flying V, so you can really work the entire fret board with ease.
Yeah, I got this bass and it's not that good. I'm used to a jazz bass neck profile, but even I was able to play my 5 string Schecter with no issues. The neck on this thing is almost annoyingly big. The tone knob does next to nothing. It's essentially an uncomfortable P bass. Looks beautiful though. Sucks that it couldn't be more
I love the body, and the (orange and) white rather than black. Yes, it is obnoxious looking, and that's what I find appealing. However, the sound doesn't impress me. I can get a superior sounding Harley for less.
I'm not a bot! I'm not a bass player I'm a guitar player! I immediately clicked on this video because it's the awesomest looking base I would love to jam on!
I have the "older" version of this bass (without the biding basically) and I have to say : the neck is horrible, the sound is not that incredible (a good squier can do the P-bass thing better) and nothing is comfortable about the body. I was diggin' the overall style of the instrument tho… I really don't understand how one does like playing it…
Why buy something that sounds like a Precision bass that has neck dive and no body contours? Buy a Precision bass that's ergonomic and well balanced. Orange should just stick to making amps.
@@Davey-Boyd Got mine at AMS.Do a Google search and act fast because it a limited run ,or so it's said.I got shut out last run and I had no idea Orange issued a new batch.I just stumbled across the news.It is however a kind of love or hate it bass, but I dig it's look. It's neck is on the larger side but it works for me.It really has a great sound.I'm 66 and have played for a long time.I own 32 basses (I know that's whack) so I've played a ton of different basses in that time.I hope you snag one if you're so inclined.
for someone as iconic at Orange, this bass isnt it. the LP/pbass lovechild look is not appealing, the only thing i like is the Headstock. they could have came up with a better body shape
Pretty cringe bass imo. Ade Emsley had the opportunity to create something really unique but instead decided to make a generic P bass that looks like a First Act guitar lol . I'll stick with my Gibson
Why.........WHY would anyone want to copy the sound of a P bass or any fender for that matter?? Give me Gene's bass sound on Alive 1 any day. Gibson basses are far superior
This is a stupid statement. I own a 1973 Ric, two P-basses, a Jazz bazz, and a Gibson Non-Reverse Thunderbird. The P basses are the easiest playing basses. They also do a better job covering a variety of sounds. I absolutely love my Gibson and I play it monthly but sorry, it is not superior. It is a pain in the ass having the strap pin at the 17th fret sort of like this O bass has. Playing fast lines on the first four frets is a pain in the ass.
I think we all want to know about the Tone-Aid around your finger! Secrets of the pros REVEALED!
Once I saw it, I couldn’t look away.
I thought it was a Tommy Iommi tribute. 😄
Orange should do a Thunderbird type bass. Orange amps have a hard rock vibe. That would fit nicely.
With Gibson suing everyone and their grandma this might not be the best idea right now ;)

Bridge is Chinese Guyker style, all over eBay, pickup is a Tonerider, like the one in the Squier CV 60s PBass.

ok i didnt know about the optional pickgaurd. the black with the brown pickguard looks really good
I had one and loved how it looked! But the neck dive and poor build quality was too hard to ignore. Not for everyone, but certainly looks cool

I just ordered the Black model now
I'd love to have one of these
If I recall, they put the pickup 4mm closer to the neck to give it that growl
Like the sound of that. Weird looks are sort of appealing.
No mention of the horrendous neck dive and that slab body looks as uncomfortable as the Rickenbacker 4003 I once owned

excellent playing in this video patrick
If I still had a Terror Bass I'd buy this based on the binding. Also, I've been saying Oh-Koo-May for years now so thanks for fixing my mouth sounds!

I wish the neck would be made of the light wood, that Fender does a lot. Would look so much better.

Opening playing clip it sounds a bit thin to me. No warmth.
Yeah it just sounds boring as a rock. Actually I think a rock is more exciting... I can break windows with it.

any thoughts/experience with the purple Glenn Hughes version anyone?
I want one 😎...... it's not ugly.....it looks cool.
what is gauge for picks?
Still right handed only for this run?
How do you adjust the neck?
I bet one of them new Hoppus basses will have a bigger P sound.
The Orange O Bass kind of looks like a Ukelele bass with a les paul bass body.
How is the neck dive on it?
Did you say purpleheart fretboard? Doesn’t look it to me.
I'd buy it immediately if it had a satin finished neck and wouldn't suffer from head-dive.

Black pumas shirt 🤌
If they could do a Rickenbacker style copy without getting sued... With that headstock.
Dude you could plug in an actual Creamsicle and make it rock before it melts😆 I've got to admit, it's hideous but this thing sounds amazing.
