    Your voice can help end homelessness. If we do not fix the affordable housing crisis, homelessness will continue to get worse. Click here invisiblepeople.tv/getinvolved to tweet, email, call, or Facebook your federal and state legislators to tell them ending homelessness and creating more affordable housing is a priority to you.

      Mark, thanks so much for sharing! This really was a blessing on my face to see such a smile of a man to keep his life going! It really touch me!; I am bed ridden & to the point feeling sorry for myself! But I watch your videos & these people inspire me so much! I just wish all that you are doing would touch others! The only thing I don't like about your videos I can't give them a hug! I know myself it helps! May you be blessed with opening many other people hearts& minds! Thanks again!

      You never been homeless. It's not fun being homeless and intoxicated, it makes you a target. Most drug addicts quit doing drugs if homeless for long enough.

      I completely understand the feeling of such and the thoughts that follow. Some how I am rehabilitating myself from it continuing my cycles of non productive ways. I find a sliver of glimmer, each moment, in which transforms into each day and so on. You deserve it to yourself to live, not just to live to die. Ride the waves of high tides to low tides and back again. Understanding ourselves, fully we can understand our energy around us. "Dust off those rusty strings, just one more time, gonna make `em shine, SHINE!!!"

      He is on methadone, which is still an opiate. Its safer and less harmful than heroin, but methadone withdrawals are worse than heroin withdrawals. Which is why he is being slowly reduced dosages. He traded one addiction for another. Good luck to him

    3 years sober!!! 👏🏾💃🏽Congratulations Tony and I hope you get housing soon 🙏🏾 Again I don’t understand why there aren’t programs that place sober working people into housing even if it means putting together 3 or more people in a home. Its really difficult for one person to pay rent alone but 3+ people together can do it. Its just not realistic to expect a homeless person to get off the streets without any help. A sober, working person should be priority. This country is backwards.

    • @karencalifano6132
      @karencalifano6132 5 років тому +1

      Exactly!! Especially in so many large, expensive cities where the homeless populations are out of control. If there's work programs there should be housing programs as well for them.

    Salute for your sober years ! My own little brother has been clean and sober through Methadone mantainence almost 10 years. After being brought back from death with narcan several times, to having a wife and two children. I drove him over 100 miles every day for two years, just for daily doses now he's earned 2 weeks worth and they opened a clinic in our County. So he does this himself. I helped for the first two years. And getting clean and sober is a fight for the rest of your life. A huge thing most who have never known this, because only the addicted know this. And Absolutely, a purposeful reason to get up every morning. ✌

    I was on methadone maintenance for 4 years after losing everything from a heroin addiction. During that time I was able to get another roof over my head, a car and a job. I became a functioning member of society again. Some people never even knew about it because of the stigma that comes with medication assisted programs, I didn't want them to judge me...and the others I told after a long time and they now have a different opinion about it. If there's a way for this man to see this comment, don't give up! Keep working and doing what you're doing. It IS possible to get your life back. Wishing you the best!!

    I see lost childhood in these people when they talk about substance abuse from young age. Their parents might have tried to intervene? Or they had causal attitude about drugs that they are teens being teens? When I am with some friends and this topic comes up couple of guys say it's okay they are just being teens. It just infuriates me. I have zero-tolerance towards drugs. My children might not become the most successful, but I'd be extremely happy if they do not have any habits.
    Drugs are the modern nature's way of making sure only the fittest survive. If you're hooked hopelessly you are marked by nature.

      And you don't think consumerism is a drug that releases the same endorphins heroin or meth does? Brainwashed consumers shouldn't be allowed to have an opinion. Wait they don't have an opinion, they just repeat what the t.v. tells them. Dare to use your brain, dare to think for yourself.

    Tony looks good! Methadone makes it tough to be mobile beyond the city limits though. Having to visit the clinic everyday or weekly if given carries makes travel sometimes not possible.
    In demand trade training would be good for him but going to school full time and being homeless gives a tough choice of learning vs. earning money to eat.
    Apprenticeships in welding or electrical with a used mobile RV provided would really help those who can withstand the peer pressure of the city social groups. Give the guy a temporary mobile home and a transportation method to get to work.
    On the street, it is day to day living with in the moment opportunities for good or bad. I am glad Tony is focused on self realization. It is hard to stay so disciplined.

    Tony congrats on staying sober, I also have 31/2 years clean, Suboxone saved my life, I'm a homeless person living in my van and have a very good job. But the rents aren't easy, criminal background check and I'm told " NO", but I'll find away.

      I live out of my van during points in the summer to save money. I dont see it as being homeless. Your van is your home and the world is your doorstep.
