Thanks for the no-nonsense, down to earth explanation of all of this. I understand a great deal about all of this, but it's refreshing to hear someone put it in a way that everyone can too.
Unlike True Neutral I am just starting my journey into MIDI switching and really appreciate your succinct and sufficiently thorough explanation here. Once again your content has raised my awareness of available options for easier, better and more automated live sound. Thanks Scott 🤘🎸💥
Thanks Scott! I too use the CME WIDI master, WIDI jack, and WIDI uhost devices and love them. So had to check out your video and now plan to buy this. Love having capabilities to use wired and/or wireless!
Again a great review and the way how easy detailed and clear you create your content (and ofcourse bloopers happen every where by anyone 😅🎉) Kind healthy musical regards from out of Finland, Bastiaan
Catching up this older video as CME just hit a big sale on Amazon Canada and I'm looking to optimize my MX5, Midi footswitch pedal & tablet scenario to automate page turning (and auto program changes) in BandHelper (maybe Stage Traxx in the future!) Mixing station control of Behringer mixers, and possibly DMX lighting. Might just pick one up "just because" and figure it'll fit one scenario or another .. or just flip it later at a nominal loss. Loving your videos as always. Cheers!
Excellent video Scott, thank you. A significant improvement for me was when iPadOS introduced Bluetooth auto-connect recently, so you don’t need to manually connect the widi units with your iPad anymore, once connected they’ll auto connect upon power up much like the widi devices do with each other. V v convenient. The company are now working on wireless audio, they’re looking to get to 5000 registrations (not orders, just expressing interest) in order to trigger the first wireless audio (iWA as they call it) product announcement. If it’s as good as the widi devices, and relatively low cost, as they’re aiming, it will be terrific.
You do such an excellent job of explaining this stuff. I’d love to see your demo of the U6 Midi Pro and how it compares to this. Thanks Scott! Edit: nevermind. I see you have a video on it!!
Good video 👍. I use mine to receive WIDI from the Master that's plugged into my Roland AE-30 wind synth. It feeds my analogue and digital synths and MidiVolts CC to CV converter.
Hey Scott! So I'm a bit confused on how to proceed. My band and I have 3 hx stomps that we want to receive widi from an iPad using MultiTracker. My main question is, could we in theory have one WIDI Jack connected wirelessly to my iPad as the Master and then 3 additional WIDI Jacks plugged into the stomps while being connected wirelessly to the master? I've done a fair bit of research but I can't seem to find a use case quite like this. Thanks in advance! You are truly an expert in this field!
I know you can connect multiple widi devices together. However I haven’t really done that. the way I would do it is I would go out of the iPad to this Widi thru 6 BT and then connect each of the hx stomp’s to one of the out ports on this device.
Awesome video Scott, thanks! Could you use or add two MIDI Wireless devices to the outputs so we could connect a Quad Cortex and a Kemper wirelessly, all receiving MIDI commands from an iPad or Macbook with StageTraxx app? I’m trying to avoid having to run 2 long MIDI cables to the Kemper and Quad Cortex since each guitarist would be on each side of the stage. Thanks in advance.
Thanks! And I think so, I think you could just use like two widi masters and connect to stage Traxx that way. Just be careful on being too far away (although these have pretty decent range!)
Great video...thanks for this! Question...would I have any issues sending time clock/code via Bluetooth from an app on my tablet to another hardwired device? I understand that time clock/code can sometimes be a bit temperamental. Many Thanks!
Hey man ! great stuff ! quik question : Have you ever tried sending midi from your Backing Track engine (i.e. utracks or M-live) to your pedalboard, via bluetooth ? Could you do that with one of the CME devices ?
@@ScottUhlMusic amazing : so widi master on your midi out port from your BT engine, and then into a widi splitter to multiple midi controlled pedals/devices as one option, or option 2 a second widi master (that serves as a receiver) on your morningstar, that then dispatches all the midi messging across for instance ? You reckon that would work ?
I have 2 Widi masters plugged to synths next to my desk and I have more synths far away, could I use only thru inputs to connect more synths and then those via Bluetooth to my Mac via bud pro? I read that Widi bud pro is a great solution if you have Mac because in every session you have setup Bluetooth if you use directly via Mac. Thanks!! Great video ❤
I have a widi jack in my MC8, then I plan to buy this MIDI box so it would connect wirelessly via bluetooth. MIDI box would be on top of my table controlling my synths, MC8 on my feet controlling my guitar pedals. That way they're still 'connected'.
I am learning, honest. So, tell me if I'm wrong about my MIDI paths. I'm going to use my CME WIDI THRU6 BT with my Helix plugged into the additional "In" on the Thru6, and port one "Out/Through" the Thru6. The Beat Buddy will then be plugged into port 2 "Out/Through on the Thru6. And the Boss VE-500 will be plugged into port 3 "Out/Through" on the Thru6. The tablet will send MIDI commands to command the Helix on channel 2. The Helix will then take over MIDI commands to the Beat Buddy on channel 4 and the Boss VE-500 on channel 6. That sound right? I just have to figure out how to do that on the Helix, and definitely need to figure out how to acquire the correct MIDI data from the B.B. and the VE-500 to put it into the Helix in order to make them do what I need them to do. (Crying, sobbing)
As always this was good information! also watched your video explaining the midi hierarchy and it was very useful. I'll be getting one of these soon. First thing I want to try is using it to control some parameters of a Korg Kross 2 from a Korg nanokontrol studio, it would be the basic midi control changes. Now, the nanokontrol does have bluetooth connection and the kross 2 has only the midi din port. Do you think I can connect the nanokontrol via bluetooth and then send the signal through one of the midi outputs to the kross 2? Thanks for sharing good content!
Thanks! Glad you found it helpful. And yes I believe you will be able to get that to work. I used to have the nano and I connected it to my computer for live performances via Bluetooth. However, it wasn’t always reliable. The Widi products have been a lot more reliable live! But yes you should be able to connect to it directly. You might need a “middle man” like an iPad or a tablet or computer possibly. But give it a try and let me know 🤘
Is there any reason to get the Widi master? It seems like the Widi jack can do the same and more at the same price, and the Wiki through 6 BT can do even more for just another $10
If you just need 5pin midi the master is great and I’ll use that one more often because it just attaches directly without cables. But both are great and I use both 🤘
Just bought the product with your recommendation. You say you love USB c, but how do you power these devices on a pedalboard? I have a power supply of 9v and run into a problem with this usb c powered device. Any suggestions? Convertor? Appreciate the advice.
Hey Scott. I have been experiencing some serious midi jitter with the Thru6 BT recently. I can't pinpoint what's been causing it. Maybe an OS update? I've updated the firmware, factory reset...emptied my bluetooth cache on my mac etc But still the midi timing is all over the place. Like me playing normally lol. My ESI (non BT) midi interface works absolutely fine. Have you come across any issues? I really want to solve this as I love the unit when it was actually working.
Is this new? Like you did a firmware update and it changed? Or has it always been doing it? If it’s always been doing it, it’s likely a routing issue or a defective unit. If it’s new, you’ll have to check to see what has changed and solve the issue from there. iOS Updates can be risky for audio tech stuff
Its awesome that MIDI never died! I have some MIFI stuff I could dig out from the early 90s if I really wanted. Could someone cash an iPad with early 90s programming?........ Asking for a friend

great review, always honest and informative ... in a way I can understand! Looks like a great device.

Been using WIDI Jack, WIDI Master, and WIDI UHost for a hile CME rocks. And your vids are always great.
Thanks! And yeah, everything WIDI has been super useful!

Yeah it looks incredible! I’m stoked for that for sure
I like the CME WIDI products I have tried and this one looks good too.
Yeah, this one is just as cool and useful as the Master and Jack 🤘 definitely worth it!
Awesome- look forward to upcoming consultation with u Scott thx ❤
Thanks Kenny! Talk to you soon 🤘
Honestly, after seeing this video, I will buy one myself, plus that Morningstar MC8 and will download MIDI designer ❤
Hahahah thanks guys 😊 Love what you are doing for the wireless/Bluetooth midi world!

WoW !!!!!!!!!!! Scott what a Great video !!!!!!!!!!!! So how do you wirelessly connect an XSonic AirStep to the WidiThru 6 BT ????????????????????????
Thanks! And im not sure how to wireless connect other devices to this one, unless its a tablet or phone with bluetooth

Great Review....Whats better? this box or USB cables and hubs in a keyboard studio? Advantage/Disadvantige ?
Thanks. And I find this to be quite reliable and organizing the midi flow
Hey man ! great stuff ! quik question : Have you ever tried sending midi from your Backing Track engine (i.e. utracks or M-live) to your pedalboard, via bluetooth ? Could you do that with one of the CME devices ?
Yup you can 👍 Do something like the Widi Master or Jack out of the B Beat and connect to this device or a pedalboard 🤘

Not with widi stuff. It can for sure, but widi has been very reliable

Reading it over text that sound “right” but midi is always complicated
great video thank you
Thanks!
Is it possible to send WIDI signals wirelessly from an MC6 to both an HX Stomp and a tablet at the same time with this and a second WIDI Jack?
Yeah on the CME pro channel they show you how to use multiple ones at once 👍
scott, can I connect and iphone and Ipad on the same widi haul? we do Karaoke at a venue and it would be great to use both via widi.
You can only connect one device via Bluetooth, but maybe this video will help make something similar work: ua-cam.com/video/YDyVhevE2e8/v-deo.html

@@ScottUhlMusic Thanks for taking the time to reply, thanks for your advice too. Keep up the good work!💪
With the MIDI THRU 5, can I simply run it through my Scarlett interface and have access to all my midi devices? I’m using a MacBook Pro.
If your scarlet interface has a midi in/out port then you can connect it to this 👍

Great info here. Im having issues with the WiFi app. I wonder if you have any recommendations for it. Thanks
Thanks, and on the WIDI app? It’s worked well for me personally
Thanks for the reply@@ScottUhlMusic, I had to use a different phone :( but now it's working perfectly, thanks for the tips!
Hi, can the WIDI Thru6 BT receive midi messages directly from a Xsonic Airstep Lite via Bluetooth?
That I don’t know. Unless you can program that device to recognize other Bluetooth devices
Ok thanks 👍
Just bought the product with your recommendation. You say you love USB c, but how do you power these devices on a pedalboard? I have a power supply of 9v and run into a problem with this usb c powered device. Any suggestions? Convertor?
Appreciate the advice.
Multiple power strips have a USB slot on them now. Something like that 👍

I connected the mc8 from midi out to WIDI thru6 midi in and the connected all my pedals to the midi in and it doesn’t work
Midi problem solving is definitely a process. Hopefully this helps: ua-cam.com/video/T49RUsWlK-k/v-deo.htmlsi=jKCerW8in1ABbEPg
Do think it’s one of the pedals that doesn’t have midi activated
Hey do you have any midi jitter issues with syncing to tempo bpm.. I use it with ableton with 4 widi devices in a group. And it loses sync. Any ideas?
I don’t usually sync with the BPM with it, so I’m not sure

How well does it work on Windows/pc? Have you tried any other bt midi devices or connectors?
I’m an apple guy, so I’m not sure

Oops I actually got the U6midi pro
Haha I got both of them too. Great devices!
MPE capable?
I haven’t tried it with an MPE controller, that’s a fair question!
