Scotty Kilmer scotty its a brand called grip tight and a brand called gator grip socket and wrenches that is very similiar to it, and craftsmans got a brand that similiar too and u dont have to turn a bolt with a screwdriver and pliers to torque it on and take it off, try one of these and make a video and tell me what u think.
Scotty Kilmer do A video of broken screw that stuck I have that problem right now on my Saab vavles
Scotty Kilmer
Hi my name is Ralph I was watching this video, I am trying to find the way to remove a rounded oxygen sensor long short story a new customer call me today (mobile mechanic )since he took the car to a certified mechanic shop and charge him $700 dollars to change the sensors and try to change the o2 sensors and guess what the mechanic told the customer the sensors were replaced but the problem still persists and guess what the super duper master knuckle head mechanic round the sensors and still the same old ones in the cars. Oh by the way the customer's son found about the scam before the came to me and he is only 13 years old how about that. So customer told me the long story . I couldn't believe it how some mechanics have the nuts to do that . But the best part is I have little to no room to work is a Nissan frontier 2002 v6 so the downstream sensors are burried between the cats and tranny I could only and maybe fit a pair of pliers to try. I hope everything is ok and have a blessed day .
I don't know see a link for common sense can I buy that at harbor freight or napa
Most rounded nuts and bolts aren't close to being accesible for that socket to get at.
+alex laverick so ????? idiot..... its better to HAVE this tool rather than not ? But,, hey, someone ALWAYS have to be a assh,.,...
IIproductionsII hehehe you proof it again.you must be a bitter poor guy, poor you, I pitty you ;)
How can a person be a bundle of sticks? (look it up)
It's a cool idea. But the space where I need it is maybe too tight.
Scotty Kilmer lol 👍
Love the tool, but they should have used a grade 8 fine thread hex bolt instead of a slot screwdriver to hold the nut secure.
That is a good gadget, but i think it would only work in places where there is plenty space.
Exacly what i thought
Looking for a tight space version. I cannot find anything that will fit in the spot I need it to.
@@cosmic8544 need a 6mm extractor for trolling motors
That's when I pull out my Torch. Can't be stuck if it's liquid 👍
I wish Scotty kept making more videos like this. It's more entertaining and useful than q & a all the time
Holy cow just what I needed. I was servicing my brakes when I found that the slide pin of the caliper was... rounded! Damn pre-owner. The same day I found this jewel I didn't doubt in order one to Chile, South America.
Thanks a lot Scotty! you are awesome pal.
I'm in the middle of rebuilding a 7M-GTE and I keep coming across rounded bolt heads. I had no idea something like this GO2 Socket exists. I just ordered one! Thanks for the info Scottie!
John Morris quick question how did this tool work for you. I'm in the edge of buying it
I just found the holy grail
This is seriously my favorite channel on UA-cam! Keep it up, Scotty!!
Having been in machining 18 years, removing bolts is typically easy, Drill through the head to the major diameter of the thread til it comes off, then a small screwdriver and back it out.
Right now I have a rounded lug that I will be using a bolt extractor that goes on the outside of the lug
Scotty, it's amazing how little some people seem to appreciate your help. Some just want to criticize you and belittle you and all the while they're just doing it to themselves. I for one do appreciate your videos and help. Many of them have been a big help. So, from me to you.......thanks a bunch!!
Scotty, Just bought one. Great tool and thanks for making this video. Also, Eric the Car Guy did a review as well, but you talked about the two types of metal the tools are made from and that's what sold me.
Nice tool. My other favorite tool for removing stripped nuts and bolts is my welder. Works magic and saves a lot of time.
Sometimes i just put duct tape around the bolt. That usually helps it grab on to the wrench better.
Here we Go
Nothing Duct Tape Can't Fix
I'll have to try that. I've tried just about everything
Didnt work for me
Scotty, that socket for rounded off nuts needs a hex head nut, NOT a screw nut. Use a wrench or socket to tighten or loosen. I cannot believe they made that great idea for a slot head screwdriver.
what happens when you round 'that' hex head? buy another bolt extractor??
hex heads are a curse
Steve Holt 😂
Yup I totally agree on that point..
I bought Two of these sucker5 because of your video. One for me and one as a present. Thanks Scotty.
If you watch Scotty without a smile on your face then you have a problem :)
scotty kilmer is a great mechanic, very pleasant. love all his videos saves you a fortune.
Scotty, thank you, this worked great. Oil plug was stripped and I was desperate, then I saw your video on this Go 2 socket. Wow,, worked perfectly.
I cant thank you enough.. Seriously,,,, you bailed me out...
Man you've helped me a ton over the years. You're great Scotty. Thanks.
I just got back from taking my car to the mechanics because my AWD and ABS disabled and they said I needed a new wheel hub sensor on drivers side. I wasn't feeling to upto the job so I asked how much it would be, they told me $255 for the part and About $400 for labor. I got out of there ASAP I later went and bought the part for $65 and did it myself in about an hour and a half! They also told me my power steering was leaking and to replace something ( I forgot what ) they wanted $1200 for just that job!!!!! So now to change steering rack and pinion seals :/ but thanks for your informative videos! They have helped me find easy ways to do hard things.

ok fuck the rounded off screw getter off thing, this guy is cool as hell.
But Scotty you already had that pair of vise grip pliers.
James Schrumm 😂😂
I have to give this a try... I've been at war with the rear sway bar bushing clamps for a good day now
That's a lot simpler than what I've done in the past. I once filed new edges on to a rounded 9/16 bolt and then hammered a 14mm socket on to it to get it out.
I've removed a lot of rounded off shit with just a good pair of vise-grips. Usually works unless it's stuck pretty damn bad, or I can't get to it with the vise-grips.
The awkward pause before the cut away at the end of every joke is amazing
I love this guy's videos but I just love the look on his face after he says "REV UP YOUR ENGINES". Always cracks me up.
Finally come to realize when I need to know something about a car not to ask anyone just look up one of Scotty's video
Great to be a famous mechanic on tube innit! That tool is like an epiphany for me who only ever had cars that were decades old... hope its affordable too
pipe wrench is also a great way to unscrew rounded bolts
Илья Медов that’s what I always use works like a charm
Scott you are the best mechanical engineering on UA-cam!
I have a set of 4 plumbers wrenches that shall take care of any nut job going. They are especially good for taking off completely rounded up nuts where not even the corners are there any more. Excellent video Scotty.
What about the pipe wrench?
Im chucking out my socket sets and Im using the 'go to socket' every time from now on !!
This is a really smart idea. So much better than cutting the bolt off along with the thread.
Hey I love your videos, I use them all the time to work on my 2005 Highlander (which I love). This video solves how to remove a rounded bolt, but how do you remove one that has broken off in the hole? Can you please please please make a video about this? Thank you.
To follow up, do those special "Speed Out" as seen on TV drill bits actually work?
A simple, effective and thus very very clever idea. Thank you!
A turbo socket from H&B Products in Chicago is a good alternative for tight fitting spaces. The sockets are machined with 12 grooves in the socket head to grip the rounded nuts/bolts.
Thanks Scotty. I used to torch them rounded bolts off, now I'm just going to use this tool.
I think Scotty is just the host. It's his cat that's doing all the hard work behind the scenes ;)
not a bad idea, looks handy in spaces where it will fit. At the same time the internally fluted socket style work pretty darn well. I'd still be grabbing one of those first.
For the price, its worth having it. There's always that one bolt/nut that just effs up your day!
Scotty you are the man !!I've been learning a lot from watching your videos keep em coming . thank you for the info .
Thank you Mr. Kilmer for the video. I just purchased one of these.
I bought Two of these suckers because of your video. One for me and one as a present. Thanks Scotty.
you the best scotty kilmer, yo i still couldn't ding your brake booster replacement video
Watched this one with my son & we did laugh ! (AND I learned something). You're great Scotty.
Nut and a welder, best combo ever for a stripped head
Thank you so much. I was about to buy a whole new wrench set.
Nice tool but I favor Sk tools turbo sockets. They come in 1/4" and 3/8" drive. Fits on a ratchet just like a normal socket so it can get into tight spaces. I have used mine dozens of times and would be lost without them! Thanks for the video Scotty.
Years ago, I had a Chinese motorcycle with an Aluminum engine case. And I swear the Phillips head screws were aluminum too. They would round out so easily. If pounding them with a hammer didn't work. I'd take a hacksaw blade and cut a slot into them. Then they would come out with a big flat blade screwdriver. This was before they invented the Dremel tool. Otherwise, it sounds like a great tool to have in the toolbox, even if you only need it on occasion. Saves a lot frustration, swearing and sweating trying to get off a rounded bolt. I will put it on my Christmas gift list. Thanks!
They were probably stainless steel, which is quite soft. They were also possibly not actual Philips screws but JIS-head screws, the Japanese standard. They look the same to the eye, but are different enough that Philips screwdrivers will strip out JIS screws.
DesolationRobot You are probably correct. It was many years ago, it was the late 1970's. I remember the Phillips driver not fitting very tightly. The company that made the motorcycles when out out of business shorty afterwards. Did you ever hear of Gemini motorcycles? The motorcycle lasted quite a few years, with Yamaha pistons, Honda brakes, and brake cables salvaged from a printing press of all things. We learned to make due with what we could find back then...
Scotty Kilmer for President 2020.
Wow, what a tool. Every mechanic should have one of those, cool stuff.
its basically an adjustable wrench for sockets.
simple but much needed
Lug nuts on hubcaps...?
ah, I was lazy and just used what was at hand for the shoot. You win the brass ring for noticing.
Cool video, very ingenious idea for a tool. I actually purchased one because of this, I always seem to run into seized brake caliper bleeder screws. I'll give it a shot next time.
Definitely going to get a go2 socket. I deal with rounded over bolts all the time at work and home.
You won't often have enough clearance around the nut to install and use the tool. But when you do have clearance it's worth a shot.
such an amazing but simple tool, how did no one come up with this before
I got one of these and it worked like a charm.
Looks an incredibly useful tool, my only reservation would be if the rounded bolt is somewhere you can't get the screwdriver in. But it looks like a much better tool than mole grips lol
Yes Scotty I just want to thank you for the tip on my Dodge 86 pickup truck it worked now it's charging perfectly and I'm not having no trouble with thank you very much signed Jerry Purdy
Great tool idea, might just get one myself. Only wish they made one that could fit rounded fittings, Ended up replacing a metal brake line once cause of a stupid rounded fitting and it was on so tight even vice grips couldn't get it off.
Very clever invention, I will grab one myself.
Hey Scotty,
This product may be improved by the manufacturer replacing the slotted screwdriver knurled nut with a knurled nut that accepts an Allen key of the appropriate dimension. That would simplify your process of having to use a vice grip post removal of the rounded nut. Cheers.
Or a hex/castle style head.
That looks like a really useful took. Only thing I could change is instead of having a slot screw in it, have a small nut so you can still tighten it on if it's in a tight space where you can't get a screwdriver.
You can use a pair of pliers to turn the screw.
Thank god for inventive minds. I really have to buy one of these!
An old worn out set of metric and standard sockets (or real cheap sets) work well for this, too. As long as you have room to beat them on with a hammer. Sometimes the only option is to simply torch the head of the offending bolt off in order to remove the part, then replace what's left of the bolt with a new one after twisting the shaft of said torched bolt off with vice grips.
I have been looking for something like this for a long time. Thanks Scotty!
"Easy out" socket works great too.
Why wouldn't they put a hex head on the screw that tightens into the socket, that way you could tighten it better than with a screwdriver?
Or just make the whole socket itself out of the same metal the impact sockets use
anti0918 To prevent retards from overtightening it.
The Hex head wold eventually end up getting rounded off too through use.
catfishakaAMC Then you just get another Go2 socket to put on that! ;)
anti0918 LOL!
Thx for the great tip, its a awesome product. I hope the make it available on ebay soon so the rest of the world can buy it aswell!
Scotty is a freaking genius!
I have another method... Dremel tool and vise grips even a small 5 dollar pipe wrench from harbor freight works well.
+rdillon517 True, but you can't always fit a pipe wrench where you need it to.
Looks okay. I would say it's good value for the average home owner. Only real down side I can see is the size. It'd be difficult snuggling that device in somewhere down in between pipes and hoses and engine parts, etc. It's better suited for more exposed stuff. But kudos to the fella for thinking up the thing.
Salesman of the year. just ordered it! lol
The cat is like “GTF away from me man” LOL!
What a useful little tool to have! Thanks Scotty!
That thing is absolute genius!
I love it when I round off my oil pan plug at 3am......because the jack hole who did the oil change (my wife took it to them, won't happen again) put it on there with the torque of the gods.
Thanks Scotty this is a great tool, I'll buy it right away!
Now that's something I could use! A striped nut can be such a pain.
This is absolutely GENIUS.
Scotty you are hilarious and fun to watch...lol Most important thank you for all your videos, your so knowledgeable in vehicles. Do you recommend this for a rusted caliper bolt? It is stuck right in there and I am out of options to try. I have a 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander.
I like it. American ingenuity. Very clever.
Scotty! My son tried to get some warranty work on his new car. Dealer said the car was from Canada and that there was no warranty! Damn Selantis! So much for a Scat cat!
autozone has the cool new ratchets and wrenches with grooves special where it will completely reduce rounded off bolts to! (:
bravo! Just got done watching Eric's video of the same tool. You did a better presentation.
I use vice grips and a sledge hammer. Works for me.
Scotty is FIRE.
More awesome information from Scotty Kilmer!
For $15, it looks like it could be a life saver. You pointed out how it could be hard to get back off, probably would be better if it had a regular bolt head. But yeah, it looks like a great life saving tool
You can use a pair of pliers to turn the screw. The knob is knurled to do just that.
This is a cheap solution for those rounded nut situations, but since the size of that tool Scotty showed is pretty darn big so it's not ideal for use in narrow and cramp areas. However the big brand name tool companies like Matco, Snap On and Mac Tools sell special sockets that have teeth on the inner side walls that can grip and hold nuts that are 50%-80% rounded off. I got the Mac Tools version called Mac Edge sockets that can be used on 70% rounded nuts, I think they recently these past couple of months introduced a new version that can grip on rounded nuts up to 80%. I think Snap On version is called Flank Drive and Matco is Omni Torque...or something.
Personally, I love these types of sockets as these pretty much no nuts I can't take off except for the rusted and seized ones. :(
That's great if you have a mile of clearance. Every rounded fasteners I've encountered are in tight areas.
This sounds like a must have!
haha i love the sound u make when u turn a wrench... rgraahh!
I use Vise Grips which work real good on stripped Nuts.If you can't get a vise grip pliers on a nut or bolt-I use a Air Chisel. I know they make a new kind of socket that grips worn nuts now, which is Scotty's new video-The Best tools to have in your tool box.
Thanks for the video, love watching your channel
You're the man scotty
Looks good. I wonder if it would fit the rounded differential cover bolt I am dealing with. It looks like it needs a fair bit of space around the bolt.
