I’m a saudi hijabi girl
I wear the hijab because I want to, not because my country or my family is forcing me to do it .
It’s my own choice .
OK, so you say that wearing a hijaab is a personal choice. I'll accept your statement for its face value. There is no strict dress code expressed in Ghoraan. Let's see if you have read the (soura An'nesa) and whether you agree with what it says in that soura. Especially the part that says if a woman refuses to follow the orders of her man, he can beat her after failing to convince her by counseling her or withholding sexual favors from her first. Would delegating decision- making in all cases to one's husband also be your "personal choice" or would that be "his choice" to beat you or not to beat you for your refusal to yield to him? Wouldn't that reduce you to a third-class citizen? You don't need to answer my question especially since it may become "problematic" for you.
homayoun Shirazi sorry , what’s your question?
homayoun Shirazi Brother...Assalamu alaikkum (May peace be on you)
little knowledge is dangerous..you need to study more. Beating does not here mean here to beat by stick or hand. Wherever you are from, you can ask the local Imam of the masjid to explain you well. Islam is not a crazy religion as you think.
Dont be double standard. If a lady wears a dress showing her body parts then you call it as freedom. If a lady wish to cover her body.. then you call it oppression. Let them wear whatever they wants.
Peace 👍
Mustafa Hassan true , thank you brother
Cool. A lot of western people (like myself before I went to Saudi) didn't know this. I have this topic in future videos and I think it's very important for people to know.

I've really enjoyed watching your videos in Saudi Arabia. The people seem so warm and friendly. I grew up in Los Angeles, California and my mother did business with alot of the Arabs in the Gold District of LA. They really helped my mother in her business to get us ahead. Great people.
Thanks Judy!

@@matthewrussell1027 every country has its ups and downs
@Charlotte Victoria Jacob that escalated quick
YES. GO TO LIVE THERE TO SEE HOW GOOD IT IS.
When I lived in Saudi there was an app that can tell you when prayer time is so that you could coordinate your errands. I liked wearing the Abaya because it meant I could get ready very quickly. It was more of a pro than a con. I still wear an abaya in the US even though I'm not Muslim. Saudi had the most beautiful malls and clothes.
شكراً لك❤️

Different but not a bich we can't pretend to be another different means being what u really r not being like American people
El proffesor I don’t think you get it...I meant our culture is unique because the life in Saudi Arabia is quite different than most countries such as stores close during pray time and you can not buy alcohol in saudi .....we are far away from the western life style bro.. The changes in Saudi are great and they are moving in the right direction for example wemen can drive now and there are lots of jobs opportunities for women and movies theaters....that doesn’t mean we want to change our culture
different? Everyone wears the same clothes! :D :D :D :D
After all, not only in Saudi Arabia do they have where the clothes are also in Dubai and Kuwait Qatar.

Dear Peter Santenello, I am a Saudi female who is 30 years old and I can say that I loved learning the English so much on my own , with my sisters and at the health science college that I could bravely say now that I’m bilingual :) BUT never have been to the US or the UK!
I appreciate your efforts and your visit so so much but your video didn’t really feel as real as I really really wanted it to be or hoped for it to be. Maybe I was supposed to be in Riyadh to show you around ;) but I’m from the west of Saudi and I work full time as a DENTAL ASSISTANT and a full time MOM OF 3 CUTE KIDS. it’s a must that you visit us again soon.
Most people in the West have always been scared of this place, but it seems cool and the people seem very friendly

You must respect our relegion not traying to change our relegion. You have to stady islam to understand the benefit of hijab, no musique, no relationship with out marriage, no alcohol ... All those things have reasons.
Example: When you were young and your mother asks you to eat vegetables, but you refuse because you think vegetables are bad and taste undesirable, but your mother because she loves you and knows your interest more than you. She orders you to eat vegetables because she knows that they are good for your health and that replacing them with candy and chocolate will make you sick. The same thing in Islam. Some things appear to you that they detract from your freedom or restrict you, but they are in fact in your interest, and if you do not do them, you will only cause harm to yourself.

Also there is nothing wrong with cherishing your own tradition. Greetings from Serbia
Serbia too is a super country !

Finally a thoughtful comment. 👍🏾
“this is about saudi people not saudi politics”
**questions about politics in saudi arabia the whole video**
Exactly shows the confusion and hypocrisy Western people have.
👍
Try.
I never thought of it until I read this comment. 🤣
That's not exactly politics. He does ask about people's perceptions, their way of life, etc. What else should he ask if trying to understand the Saudi nation ?
Stumbled across your videos....The Saudi episodes are fascinating and your enthusiasm to embrace new cultures appreciated.
Peter, you've totally changed my impressions of Saudi Arabia.. fantastic media content buddy. Respect coming your way..

So good to see another American there. My first time was amazing but now I feel comfortable there. I hope others will go and see Saudi Arabia and its' culture which is amazing.
Yes , its good American come and see for themselves and experience the beauty of Saudi. . .
I have been there twice on an American visa and they have ALWAYS treated me nice. No matter where I went. I think Americans just assume they are the way we have been lead to believe. There were women walking around without hijab on in the malls and all. Granted they were not wearing daisy dukes. I met and had lunch with a girl from America who married a Saudi in the mall. She wasn't even wearing hijab. She has had a wonderful time there the past decade . They really are welcome to visitors.
@Den Tymchenko what are you sayin !!!!!!!!!! there are Americans EVERYWHERE in saudi. our relations are perfect !
@Den Tymchenko Saudi arabia is probably the safest place for americans in that region. Since the US and the KSA are allies. Plus the KSA was not on the list of travel banned countries.
@Den Tymchenko you are mistaken we welcome any one regardless of political acts Saudi Arabia is full of American and European people living here happily

Completely impressed with the changes❤️There is peace in freedom.❤️ Thanks to you and your kind guests who helped show and share a glimpse into Saudi Arabia today.
@@soumia7647 you don’t have to preach respecting YOUR religion. I already very much understand the meaning behind ‘religious rules.’ Born again Christian is what I relate to and it has many of its own guidelines and yes, all of them with reasons as well! Dress modestly out of respect, dance only to praise God, surround yourselves with others of similar belief, no alcohol or anything that pollutes the body since it’s the temple of Christ, etc...so I’m not sure why you think I personally wouldn’t know that 🙄since my answer wasn’t judgemental toward that anyway. Ours teaches not to judge others, to be forgiving and to “love thine enemy”. Sadly, not all religions are on board with that last part. Still...there should be freedom of choice. That’s also in ours. The freedom to choose bc it’s between that person and God. Not for others to punish those who don’t ‘conform.’ THAT’S the part I have a problem with...religious policing.
@@doylejodi7502
Regarding punishment we have this verses: (We will indeed let you witness (O Muhammad! the realisation of) some of the punishments with which We threaten them (- the disbelievers) with before We cause you to die. You are responsible only for the delivery (of the Message) and the reckoning is Our Own responsibility).
Which mean that no one has the right to punich or judge any one only god do that, people have just the right to deliver the message.
@@doylejodi7502
If you have a young son and he is very sick and he must take an injection in order to be cured, do you advise him to take it so that he can recover, or do you give him the "freedom" to choose to take the injection, and you know that if he does not take the injection, his disease will worsen? The same thing in Islam. We have “ Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice ” to advise a person if he is wrong and direct him towards the right path.
@@soumia7647 I have zero issue with giving guidance or assistance to a follower who may be deemed to be veering away from the righteous path. I only take issue with shunning; which some religions do, or punishing which some religions do.
Advising a follower in kindness & with God’s love, is one thing. I simply don’t agree with any religion which persecutes.
My religion says everyone has the option of choice. Yes, there can be ‘religious’ consequences with the choices the individual makes, by God, the Father, but they aren’t dealt out by people. I’m not so sure Islam follows that same principle of choice? Don’t people get punished by other people for not following God’s law in Islam?
Regarding covering the head, doesn’t that partly have something to do with ‘temptation’ & in the belief that it’s necessary due to men’s expected inability to control sexual urges?
Man’s law says regardless of a female’s attire, too bad & control those urges or go to prison. Christians are taught that women aren’t to be seen as sexual objects but to be revered/respected.
So, if Christianity encourages particular behaviours, discourages other behaviours while still saying people have the freedom of choice, but Islam teaches the same principles but without freedom of choice, then I guess it just means we can agree to disagree.
I couldn’t care less whether women cover their hair or don’t cover their hair. I just believe it should be a decision best left for that person to ultimately decide what is right for them after being given all the information regarding it. There are many in that religion who do not cover their hair. IMHO, it’s between God & themselves. If you know they already know what Islam teaches then after that, it’s up to them.
If I saw a Christian behaving in a way that may be detrimental to the salvation of their soul somehow, then I understand attempting to give them loving guidance. What they do with that information after that though is up to them.
This next comment isn’t really relevant but if I were to see you in public covered up or not covered up, I won’t be judging you ;)
God Bless

I wish more people would travel so they could realize how similar people are from every culture. Thank you for sharing these valuable experiences to the world. Hopefully these videos help people overcome misguided preconceptions about different countries and cultures! 👌

Phdiva 0890,
I must have touched a sensitive chord for you to have begun ad hominem attacks. Desperation must have motivated you to forget civility and norms. However, the decision to wear hijaab is a reflection of a culture's norms and societal standards. In a country that is steeped in religion and is entrusted as the keeper of two of the holiest mosques in the islamic world, it is not a "personal choice" for a woman to drop hijaab and walk around arm-in-arm with one's male escort! Religious tradition and society's standards govern the public image she presents. It is not "her choices." Women in Mecca and Medina" will not be seen without a head-scarf because the culture demands adherence to norms and standards that prohibit expressions of "personal choice" in asmuchas tradition of a culture that is entrusted as the keeper of the holiest mosques in Mecca and Madina demand it. No religious leader would permit such exhibitionism for the sake of modernity or "personal choice!" As for your objection to my not knowing the correct spelling of the holy book of islam, I must remind you that it is written with a "ghaaf" and not a "q." It's pronounced "ghoran" and not "qoran." But then, I didn't expect you to be a knowledgeable person; just a foul-mouth who doesn't know how to argue rationally.
صدقت والله يحسسونك إنا كنا همجيين ومتخلفين
homayoun Shirazi your talk is baseless
I am a 30 y/o Saudi woman
I wear Hijab by my own choice and I love it ❤️
محمد المهجول well said
@Chill Encounters That ain't _shit,_ alright. They have the right to wear that hijab wherever they want to as long as they don't force you to do the same. The nuns have the same rights....so grow up dude.
With due respect, it's actually not ur choice. It's the society u grew up. After 10 or 20 year there will be another culture in Saudia. we think we choose things but it's not true sometimes environment and society make u to chose things.
@@SaparHarai Bruh. Shut your mouth. Who are you to speak for others? They have their own experience.
In the West, women are thirsty for attention because their society taught them this way, always associating women with sexual matters. But here, they are happy to be seen by just their husband, everyone else is irrelevant strangers. I feel disgusted when I see women that have no respect for themselves.
Do you think modesty is oppression?! Then you are also brainwashed by your own society.

مافيه اي اعتزاز بالدين وكأن الدين شي عيب
ليه ينكر الواقع ياصديقي ، الدين يقول يمين ، واغلب الناس رايحه يسار

The thing we need to understand that wearing hijab, in Islam, is not part of a culture. But it is part of religious duty.
Exactly same as nuns they wear their custom which is actually hijab because of their belief in their religion except most of our people are religious not only some who works in religious places.

I never ever listened or believe to any of those false informations and black propagandas that’s shown by the media because I am one of the living proof that arabs are just like those happy, normal and kind people in the world. This is not about race, nationality and country. This is about the kindness of the people.
