Yeah, you got that right and the front end is diffidently from Transformers! If they change the front it will be a better looking bike and will sell more. That front end is holding the bike back in my opinion!
I'm currently Jonesing for a a super naked and this one is the most affordable by far! Yamaha has been killing it with what I view as super high value bikes. Reliable, good pricing and European looks without being finicky.
Can I just say I love your guy's video content. It doesn't feel scripted or like you're reading off a prompt. It always feels genuine and kind of like a conversation.
I have owned many bikes over the years but the MT10 has given me some amazing rides and experiences. Last weekend to the Bol Dor and back 1100 kms each way so 4 days riding and wow she is fun and fast! That CP4 engine is a legend.
This thing sounds like a V-Twin, LUV it.... One of my all time favorite bikes is a FZ-1that I rode at the Freddie Spencer Race School in Las Vegas years ago.
Why the nasty remarks?? I have never owned a Harley, and currently own a 'tweaked' FZ1..! I SAID that I love the bike, but do I have no right to my own opinion on the styling? I just happen to like styling that has a "forward flow" to it, rather than looking like something from "Transformer" movie.
The brakes are better than The Triumph Triple R/S.13, three bike length better from 100 miles an hour, nearly the same as the BMW S1000RVS and 5 to 6 bike length on the 1290 Superduke. I'm so impressed with this bike I just lad the cash down and pick it up next week. The upright riding position and simple modes made it easy to ride. Getting off the bike was so easy in a corner and then power out , up the front wheel would come, a little crossed up until it straightened and that engine makes a very nice growl.
had one, been there, & don't forget to say if you want fun on it your get less then 85 miles to the tank. guzzzels. (s1000r faster, 50 more to the tank.)
"The Dragon" and the myriad of roads around that area is a "Candyland" of riding!! I live about 2 hours south of 'The Dragon' and PLAY in the Smokies and Blue Ridge Mountains of North GA and western North Carolina FREQUENTLY!! [And with Road Atlanta and even Barber within easy access, I also get in a few Track Days.] I currently have an FZ1 -- with a PC5, full Yoshi, K&N with modified EFI butterflies, and braided brake lines. And I WANT this new FZ-10!! Yes, I will Definitely change the brake lines and pads, and add a small to medium clear windscreen for all the road time I ride. [ I am spoiled' by the added comfort, and I think it 'adds' as much in smoother airflow as it might take away in 'frontal area'. ]
I'm so glad Japanese makers are going the Harley route. It's not about creating brand new bikes from scratch all the time. It's about taking perfect bikes and creating different iterations for riders. This way parts remain the same and maintenance is universal. Plus the FZ/MT and their new XSR are genius. I hope they take the Bolt motor and create a Buell like naked v-twin bike.
Haha...was that an attempt at backing it in at :41? Thought that was more of a front brake/downshift and maybe a touch of rear brake kinda thing? Either way, nice review.
Brilliant, absolutely love it and would like to buy it...but they have done a VFR1200! 17ltr fuel tank! Catalogue has loads of extras to help you go the distance, well that means more than 120 before having to fuel up. Arrgh.
Nice review, but unless I missed it, I saw nothing regarding the optional quickshifter in the video, and in fact the associated article that was referenced said that "Despite the fact it’s not equipped with a quickshifter, if you didn’t need to breathe the throttle to upshift, you’d never know." I heard repeatedly that a quickshifter is being offered as an option. Is this inaccurate?
quick shifter is an option for the European mt10 but the catalog for the fz10 is not showing it yet. But I priced it out with a conversion of euros to dollars and it came around $300.
Unlike the R1, the FZ-10 does not have a quickshifter in stock form, and one wasn't mentioned as an option during our briefing. But seeing as how the European market got the MT-10 first, and now are getting quickshifters as an option, expect to see Yamaha US follow suit.
The European catalog, with a wide variety of desirable items: www.yamaha-motor.eu/eu/products/motorcycles/hyper-naked/mt-10.aspx?view=accessories&year=2016#/
Yamaha has trademarked the moniker "Tracer GT" in Europe as of 4/17. In Europe, this bike is the MT10...and one owner there deftly coined it the "Empty 10" due to the short (~135 miles) fuel range. You can try touring on that in the US, but you'd better fill your luggage with fuel bottles. Sold my FZ09, but enjoying my 17 FJ09 (~200 mile fuel range) quite a bit, especially with the Ohlins suspension I just installed. I am interested in something like an FJ10. Fill those fake scoops on the tank with gas, add a more comfy seat, keep the sporty suspension, throw in some red, white and blue paint choices (skip the blurple and dayglo wheels, please), maybe dial back (at least shorten) the bug beak, and you will have another winner. :)
Older&Wiser I mean you could try to fill the scoops with gas, but it's got a good portion of fuses and electronics tucked in there. I got 42 calculated mpg when I was going 80 with cruise control for a 12 hour ride.
Hmmmm... I owned a 2003 FZ-1. Loved that bike and it had great gas mileage and tons of aftermarket. Still in production this year so no plans on killing it so far? It's still a ton cheaper than this new FZ-10 and I think the FZ-1 is a lighter bike. Guess it comes down to preference.
Great bike like all Yamahas, but the 1/4 fairing on the old FZ1 was a heck of a lot easier to clean that this! Someday motorcycle styling will go back to smooth-&-flowing, and I for one look forward to that. BTW, copper is a beautiful color for motor vehicles.
I guess it's a fact by now: The thing it's got crappy brakes, said by a few now. Heard one with a muffler...sounds as awesome as all crossplane I-4s. I can only imagine it will get better with a full system. 😁
Backing it in is done by shifting down and letting the clutch out, causing the rear to brake loose. This bike has a slipper clutch so that isn't possible. He's just locking up the rear brake.
Maybe Im wrong but I was under the impression a slipper clutch would assist in backing it in? The braking just looks out of control when done in this video
Its the law where i come from too. And you will be fined and have demerit points to your license if you dont comply. But my question is why just 1 light on nowadays (instead of 2). There is also a light switch so you can turn the lights on or off. I rode my friends newer more modern bike at night once & found that 1 light on just doesnt cut it. I had better visibility on my bike due to 2 lights on. W/o highbeams too. Ive decided that once i get my full license, Im gonna mod my bike so that it will always have 2 lights on be it headlights or highbeams. No one eyed jack case. Its damn fugly.
Came close to getting one of these but for me the tank is too small considering the mpg you get. Got a 2016 Kawasaki Versys 1000 much better option for me especially for longer rides. Sure would like the horsepower of the FZ-10 though.
don't have a dealership to test them myself around where I live. between the fz9(triple) and fz10(i4) does the fz9 feel slimmer and easier reach for shorter riders with narrow waist? looking to leave my 04 zx10r for maybe a brand new sv650 or used monster 696 but still taking suggestions and advice.

wow
well hello there...
*Hey guys I found waldo!!*

Lame!
Yeah, you got that right and the front end is diffidently from Transformers! If they change the front it will be a better looking bike and will sell more. That front end is holding the bike back in my opinion!

Thanks. Honest, conversational videos are what we go for. We don't always get it right, but we try!
I have owned many bikes over the years but the MT10 has given me some amazing rides and experiences. Last weekend to the Bol Dor and back 1100 kms each way so 4 days riding and wow she is fun and fast! That CP4 engine is a legend.
I love how the reviewer make it seem like Japanese motorcycle makers are the ones trying to keep up with other makers... LOL
@John Smith overrated cheap junk
This is awesome! We were there and saw you guys on the dragon on July 19th haha! Awesome review!
SALTxTHExWOUND wt upz SALT!!!
This is what you get when the Autobots have sex.
😂👍
IJIGA BACHI
it's a deceptacon
This thing sounds like a V-Twin, LUV it.... One of my all time favorite bikes is a FZ-1that I rode at the Freddie Spencer Race School in Las Vegas years ago.
Standard, Alright, and Bonkers. I don't see what is so confusing about the new riding mode system.
*assuming "alright" like Quagmire says it.
They are complaining because the FZ-09 is power mode is A and the FZ-10 power mode is B!
Maybe B mode stands for BADASS MODE!!! XD
Taijean Moodie Beast Mode!
B mode = Brutal
Next year I'm upgrading from my MT-07 to this beast.
Did you do it?!
@@Arckabis guess not lol
am i the only one thinking this bike looks exactly like bumble bee...
Nope!
Yeah... I Love the Bike, but HATE the jig-saw puzzle of body-work...
go back to riding lame ass Harley's then.
+Floyd Burdett fuck yeah, Floyd! Fuck off, Raymond!
I knew something was going on when I saw like 10 of those bikes go past me on the dragon!
Was that you coming the other way at 4:04? I thought of you when i saw those bikes cause i saw your video.
Wow, sounds like a great bike. I have an '01 FZ1 and love the R1 engine. This sounds like a couple adaptations beyond that.
That bridge was cool, nice pic for the shooting location
omg that sound😲
Gorgeous place
Serious riding at the dragon 🐉
Dig the thumbnail at 3:15 too🤙🏽
Good review and video Troy!

Yamaha seems to totally knocked it out the park with this one. 👏🏽
This will be my next bike for sure. Maybe wait till January though
Nice work guys. Big fan!
"The Dragon" and the myriad of roads around that area is a "Candyland" of riding!!

Low budget 😝
Love the unique look
Nice place.....loved it....may I know which location is this???
great review, nice and balanced
Great video!

Great review.
Ohh warmest greetings from Indonesia to you Troy.
Horas lae.
Thanks, you just made me go buy one.
Great video 🤟
Nice Review
Dear, Yamaha please make a fj10 and bring the fj07 to Canada!
The riding modes actually make sense now. How is that wonky?
I like it , extra special with crossplane engine.
i really love it
who is the guy he's refering to at 2:56? Don Burns?
John Burns. My colleague at Motorcycle.com who loves cruise control.
You said it has the suspension from the R1 but I'm fairly certain it's got lower spec internals, just the same outers
Haha...was that an attempt at backing it in at :41? Thought that was more of a front brake/downshift and maybe a touch of rear brake kinda thing? Either way, nice review.
Of course when the camera is rolling I completely mangle it up! I swear they were proper off camera! Oh well.
+Troy Siahaan Suuure haha, kidding. I'm just jealous that I don't have your job!
Were you able to turn the ABS off to do the skids?
At least Standard - A - B is now following an order. Maybe P1 - P2 -P3 would have been more clever names.
Exellent.
I am going to buy a Honda grom as my first bike then this and learn the hard way
Can I have your Phone when you leave us?
What about the speed triple ? wich is an amazing bike compares to the others streetfighters !
Dream bike!
Been interested in these Yamahas but with the issues of the fz 09 Im hesitant and probably wont.
Ride at the dragon yearly, kapan bisa nge-ride bareng bang siahaan?
IMO
1ST KTM SUPER DUKE 1290R
2ND BMW S1000R
3RD YAMAHA FZ10/MT10
4TH APRILIA TUONO V4
Just be ready for this clicking valves after 10,000km on the ktm and ecu problems with bmw's
You cant ompete with Zack Courts backing it in bro. Zacks a smooth criminal on a bike
Nice bike
What helmet are you using at 6:34?
Great to see some other roads besides California for street test!
What helmet is that at 6:35?
i hope it will be available soon in Indonesia

Thank you all for the quickshifter commentary.
The European catalog, with a wide variety of desirable items:
www.yamaha-motor.eu/eu/products/motorcycles/hyper-naked/mt-10.aspx?view=accessories&year=2016#/
But will Yamaha bring FZ-10 in Fazer look with a more touring capabilities.Like Ktm did with Super Duke GT.And i hate when only one head light is on.
Since you mentioned touring, any info on fuel mileage compared to R1?
I'm new to the motorbike world. Is this beginner friendly?
I'm converted to the MT-07
Nah, get a Busa
You will be fine
NO, snatch throttle and too much power for a new rider. It’s a mental bike
Ricky Sutherland it’s all about how u ride it. If he just eases into it and puts on one of the more “beginner friendly modes”

let me know how tall you are and how much this bike is. Im getting a new one this year.
Which helmet is that? Looks really good.
It's the new Scorpion EXO AT-950.
+Troy Siahaan Thanks man!
My friend i was amazed by z900 easy to ride but MT 10 is crazy powerful
What kind of helmet is that with the built in shades that slide down and up?
How does it compare to the FZ-1?
Yamaha used to do this with their R6 motor. Anyone remember that bike?
Great bike like all Yamahas, but the 1/4 fairing on the old FZ1 was a heck of a lot easier to clean that this!
Someday motorcycle styling will go back to smooth-&-flowing, and I for one look forward to that.
BTW, copper is a beautiful color for motor vehicles.
as a supermoto rider, please, if you cant back it in properly, keep it to the track and dont attempt that stuff on public roads.
as a hall monitor, please, dont talk in the hallways
Why did Yamaha decide not to include the IMU? Are they really that much more expensive?
Does the 2017 have the quickshifter and autoblipper as well? Looking to get one for my everyday rider
What helmet were you wearing ?
I want one in yellow like the MT-07 from 2015, and that they update the tail to look like the MT-07 aswell.. omg
imho..still can't beat the sound of V4
The crossplane crank gives it the same firing sequence as a V4 so it sounds similar.
lol its so close you almost cant call it
marurider
True man the vmax does sound amazing.
My VFR sounds like a small block Chevy when the V-TEC is screaming.....
You can't leave out the Speed Triple. Might not have the power as some of these bad boys but still can keep up with the best in the twisties.
Or, on an actual road, the STREET Triple will keep up in the twisties.
i NEED to go fishing at that dam
Random question but what helmet is that? thanks
hello Troy Siahaan, are you indonesian people??? i mean, siahaan it's one of special name from indonesian... i'm from indonesia, troy... :D
Alvin Putera i think he is. horaass..
I guess it's a fact by now:
The thing it's got crappy brakes, said by a few now.
Heard one with a muffler...sounds as awesome as all crossplane I-4s.
I can only imagine it will get better with a full system. 😁
are you from indonesia????
hes an American, moron
He used to be a Thailand lady boy
what was the helmet you showed in vid? link?
I'm FZ10 rider.It's powerful monster❗️
What is going on with the rear braking?.. I believe they call it backing it in.. Just looks wrong when done in this video.. Nice bike tho
Pretty sure he's just sliding via the rear brake and not actually "backing it in"
Backing it in is done by shifting down and letting the clutch out, causing the rear to brake loose. This bike has a slipper clutch so that isn't possible. He's just locking up the rear brake.
Maybe Im wrong but I was under the impression a slipper clutch would assist in backing it in? The braking just looks out of control when done in this video
He should have addressed that, I think he was just testing the ABS.
Can we buy the tft display for this bike?
I think that a Speed Triple is a better proposition and more practical in real life even a Street
i have 1 question
why 1 light of nearly every super bike remains on?
why we cant turn it off?
Its the law where i come from too. And you will be fined and have demerit points to your license if you dont comply. But my question is why just 1 light on nowadays (instead of 2). My current bike is an old 90s bike. And whether its headlights or highbeams, its still 2 lights on. No 1 eyed jack kinda thing. 2 lights on is also aesthetically more pleasing as well as symmetrical.
Its damn fugly.
hey im getting a 2014 z1000 what helmet do you recommend
Shoei
Arai
LS2
wowcrazy70 a bucket.
Came close to getting one of these but for me the tank is too small considering the mpg you get. Got a 2016 Kawasaki Versys 1000 much better option for me especially for longer rides. Sure would like the horsepower of the FZ-10 though.
Luar biasa..baru tau yamaha fz ada yg mirip ducati..ndeso bener aku😭
why didnt the make the regular r1 engine color scheme like this???
lol you mentioned the duke over the speed triple
Do you guys think it would be okay to get a fz10 as a second bike? My first bike will be a FZ6R or SV650.
don't have a dealership to test them myself around where I live. between the fz9(triple) and fz10(i4) does the fz9 feel slimmer and easier reach for shorter riders with narrow waist? looking to leave my 04 zx10r for maybe a brand new sv650 or used monster 696 but still taking suggestions and advice.
If you are going to spend 13k, why not spent 2-3 more and just get the good stuff?? Tuono-S1000R?
MHO.... Riding is all about Torque than bhp. I have the feeling that in the U.S. Hbp is overrated and Torque underrated. In Europe the Naked market is very populair since the '80s mid '90's and still is. Glad you discover the potentional of a Naked overseas in the U.S.. IMHO better than supersports. With a naked you got the comfort, the torque, the sexy looks and don't forget they also got bhp and the speed. All in all practicality.
Odd how the GSXS1000 was brushed aside yet this bike is a contender against the Tuono, Beemer and KTM. The GSXS pulls from 2K rpm in 6th, gets damn near 49 mpg and costs nearly 3K less.
Can i ask its price?
Those Pink brake rotor inserts are the only issue i see lol
