I think he has done a pretty good job, and it's nice to see fresh faces as long as none takes over mc garage, mc commute and on two wheels from Zack and Ari.
I think it adds to the level of info. when it is a rider that has 'lived with' the bike for many months. 'Little things' show up that are easily missed on a typical 'test ride'...like the annoyance of gassing up frequently. btw -- 30 to 35 mpg for this bike is Terrible! (My FZ1 gets 35 -38 in the mountains or even a Track Day...and 45mpg or better when I am just riding easy...and I have 135hp to the ground.)
Relax people! Ari and Zack are still with MC and releasing vidz. Spenser is a very capable, observant "wrist" who takes his job seriously. --Looking forward to more vidz from all three of these great guys in 2018.
This is absolutely my dream bike. Yamaha's styling the last 2 years has improved significantly, their naked bikes look so unique and instantly recognisable, this one especially. One day, i'll own one, and i'll never let it go.
Bought this bike last fall and absolutely love it. Fabulous in the corners and the power is awesome. I also love the sound. Most stock exhaust systems are quiet but not this one.
Great to see another team member... Congrats Spencer. That said, not a stitch of new information here. Please put those factory connections to good/better use.
Nice to see you in front of the camera this time! I'm a faithful and I saw you in few times before on videos and reading your articles in Motorcyclist Online. Apart from all these On Two Wheels episodes where you are credited with the camera and editing work of course!
GREAT take Spenser! You're a natural man (ya better be after all that time behind the lens 😉) Looking forward to seeing you in the rotation regularly 👍
Keep these coming! I'm more interested in the fails, so maybe it could be "FAILS (and also favorites)". When I test ride a bike, I'm not good at picking out all of the bad points, especially if I really like the bike. For instance, when I tested out a Tuono last year, all I could do was grin and twist the throttle. With that, please show do an episode on the Tuono!
Hi I have 2016 mt10 which I bought new in the UK. I love it and my biggest fails on it are the fuel gauge and tank range. I also have an issue with the passenger foot rests hitting the back of my boots. I upgraded to the comfort seat which made huge difference and noise is awesome. Great vid by the way.
Lol at everyone crying out for Ari. I love him too but Spencer did a great job covering this bike and providing good insight for owners and potential buyers alike. Thanks for this Favs and Fails! I love the idea of long term reports for bikes.
This is a great review. Proves that Spenser is not just a talented videographer. The negative comments here are only a reflection on Ari & Zack’s popularity and not Spencer’s delivery.
The whole on/off throttle thing comes down to being able to ride the bike in my opinion. Everyone is used to the standard 4-cyl in line bikes and when moving over to a bottom-end power house it’ll feel choppy. It took about 30 minutes to get used to the mt-09 & mt-10 when taking them for test rides.
Spot on, I've owned an MT10 for nearly two years. Totally reliable, great fun to ride and yes very thirsty. Lots of guys here in the UK have gone down the de-cat route and had the ECU flashed, this smooths the throttle response no end. Also plenty of folks getting 150bhp at the rear wheel after the re flash. Do you guys in the states get a lower power model than us or is that just a myth? We certainly have higher octane fuel here.
Agree with your points and after a ecm flash, the throttle is transformed not to mention 165 hp at the rear wheel. Brakes are meh but easily upgradable. Out the door at $11500, it's the best bang for buck. Sure I rode the super duke and bmw but my wallet had a heart attack.
Finally someone that admits the terrible fuel economy upfront in a youtube video. This was my gripe, and ultimately, the reason why i traded in the bike so soon after getting it. It is a shame that the bike isn’t better in that aspect because everything else about it is just so good. Had it been any different, i’d surely still own it..... Do you think the poor fuel mileage outweighs your preference over having something else??
Front pads weren't mentioned. I'm sure you replaced them. Most vids say Brembo pads in front really do the trick without new master & lines. Will be doing this on my 2020.
Spenser did a great job, hes a natural in front of the camera... if he is going to be in more vids, can we have an introduction to who he is? Does he ride track? Or offroad? Touring?
I really value each kind of reviews about bikes. Different opinions and different thoughts overall. Unfortunately, whenever I hear somebody mentioning brake system as a "fail" and ending up changing everything top to bottom; It ends up, despite miles driven that, person actually needs to improve his/her braking tecnique, not the braking system on the bike. There is that video you can search on the youtube which shows that this bike actually has the best stop performance in its class with its stock brakes, surprising everybody doing the review. And they did it with all bikes in the review. Result was always the same. And I can tell that margin was not close neither. If those guys manage to brake that far before the competitor bikes in their video, while you show nothing but contrasting them by just your opinion, sorry mate, you need to show evidence of what you're saying. (Edit: I own the bike and did long tours with it including but not limited to ~1200km per day trips). Edit 2: found the video: ua-cam.com/video/bLCBY79Ut8A/v-deo.htmlm10s Cheers!
Good video, very informative and thank YOU for mentioning the throttle response issue!!!!!!! It's so often overlooked that I feel sometimes surprised (in the good way) to see a pro mention it as not up to par with the rest of the bike :)
Great video new guy. Next please do the Ducati Multistrada 1200s DVT :) please also give measurements in imperial AND metric for the rest of the world!
Yep, he´s been behind the camera for quite a while, but he has also been in front of it once in a while for quite a few years. You might want to check out scooters in Thailand (or is it some other asian country) video he was in (it was really great video btw).
Contemplating between doing the seat concepts kit or getting an Airhawk seat. Any thoughts? I'm doing a trip from SoCal to Vancouver. Did a 500+ mile day last weekend as a dry run and my butt, back and neck was doneeeeeeee. Definitely investing in a fly screen+clip on deflector and definitely a seat. Looking forward to your reply!
Any chance you guys do favs and fails for daily commuters? Could you do one for (bare with me...) Hero ismart. Also any chance you guys could also use metric?
I have always wondered why does the CP4 engine suffers such a HORRENDOUS fuel economy. No matter the application(R1, MT-10) the fuel economy is ALWAYS horrible. P.S: Hey, New Guy ! You did a great job ! Don't listen too much to the comments of the old regular "Crowd".
Anyone that’s actually going to buy one of these: ecu flash solves the fueling issues and deristricts the motor, Yamaha makes a great comfort seat, change the pads to something more agressive, most people change the mirrors as they’re too narrow.
Ok, man, you gotta finally spill the beans, how did you make that MC garage intro? I mean the reverse stopmotion of assembling those parts is cool but how did you get the written text there??
I have no idea who this guy is but I'll allow it. Also, this new segment is pretty cool. Short sweet and to the point with the positives and negatives of the bike.
Hi guys! Thank you for the detailed information. But I was wondering about something else: How big is the pain in the a** to clean the bike - especially the heavily jointed front lights section? Thank you in advance for your answer!
I have the SP model, the brakes and throttle are fine, while not up to M50 standards they pull you up just fine. The fuelling on my SP is fantastic and I only ride in mode1 can't see the point in the other 2.
I think the bolt pattern on the licence mount lines up with the one on the bike so you could loose that section that movies the plate and indicators back there. Would look better.
did you have any problems reliability-wise? is it difficult to clean? front end in particular looks like a pain. also, do you think SP version is worth extra money?
Thanks for the reply. I look forward to it! I'm pretty sure I saw a Z in one of the MC Garage episodes which had me excited for a review of sorts. I think the FZ10 has tremendous value on paper but having such poor fuel economy on a naked, which typically get used for commuting, is pretty disappointing, which has me leaning toward the GSXS.
What's your opinion on the Mt-10 vs Mt-09 on the fence about which one to get as an every day rider for city and occasional scenic rides with twistys. I'm 6' and lanky so don't like being cramped and rarely have a passenger. Also I won't keep the bike stock for long.
Agree with you the MT-07 is an amazing machine and definitely one of the nicest looking naked bikes. I still have to do mine up integrated taillight etc.
I know it's a little bit old, but I'd love to see a video like this about the FZ6R. Is that possible? By the way, this is a great video! I'm not very much into naked bikes, but to see the pros and cons is very nice anyway. Thank you, guys!
Im around 5.8 here in the US, im looking into these bikes and im not sure if im tall enought to ride it. I sat on a used one, but im pretty sure it was modded out, do you think a shorter person would be ok with this bike? I was also considering the GSX S1000 let me know what you think.
I have this bike and a 16 Z1000 from Kawi, I would pick the Z for riding any day over this one because of the heat and fuel consumption is terrible. This is the MT-10, or I would say, the "Empty Tank"
Bike makes way more than 130 hp stock. Stock bikes typically dyno at the wheel ~138-140hp and tuned 150hp+ As for brakes you changed out everything except the one thing thank really makes a difference, PADS!!!
I'd still like to see you guys do some sort of review of the Hyosung GT650R, I don't get the chance to ride anything else and I feel curious as to how it compares to other motorcycles. And it wouldn't be a bad idea to make more people familiar with the brand so they could gain a bit more popularity, after all, the more manufacturers the better, right?
Something that really annoyed me about this bike was the foot clearance. My boot would get wedged between the peg and the contraption behind it. My feet aren't even big. For reference I use Alpine stars SMX plus, size 11.5 US. I can't help that I like to tippy-toe on the pegs. Other than that, the instrumentation felt cheap and I'm not a fan of mechanical clutches. Pretty cool bike though.
If the breaks really are that bad just put a set of racing breakpads on it. Sheesh is it that hard. GPfax pads make more of a difference then those levers, lines and MC combined
Soooo, you upgraded the braking system, but if I'm not mistaken, or unless I missed something further, you improved everything but the pads? Swap out those crappy oem pads with some nice aftermarket ones and then get back to us. PS: The R1's stock brakes aren't all that fantastic either. I went with Vesrah pads and RBF600 fluid on my 2016 and it's a little better, considering the MC is still stock.
I really cannot understand why so many complain a about the mpg. First, I’ve owned two R1s and never ONCE became annoyed by the lack luster mpg. You don’t buy a performance machine or car thinking it will somehow get Prius mpg numbers. Hello combustion engine more power means more fuel burned. This thing is of course derived from an R1. Knowing this I know exactly what I will get. And long distance rides these bikes will push much better gas mileage due to lower rpm and consistent rpm at highway speed. The brakes are nothing more than a pad swap and your good. Manufacturers throwing in “brakes” meaning organic pads. Which are also the cheapest and the lowest performing. Just saying. These are down front six pot like on the 10-14 R1 models.
Chill guys! He said he has been on this bike for long miles, he is actually more capable of giving us a real first person perspective of what's like to own an MT 10.
I think he has done a pretty good job, and it's nice to see fresh faces as long as none takes over mc garage, mc commute and on two wheels from Zack and Ari.

he's been part of the team for a long time tho, because he's the cameraman
Relax people! Ari and Zack are still with MC and releasing vidz. Spenser is a very capable, observant "wrist" who takes his job seriously. --Looking forward to more vidz from all three of these great guys in 2018.
He has the same mannerisms as the tall dude. Good video.
This comment didn't age well

Cameraman Spenser gets to jump in front of the camera. Good job.
I like the new guy! He did well.
I kindly disagree with that :)
agree JoVi! he did it like he's used to it!
This bikes front view is DOPE. 🔥
As a newcomer to the channel I didn't even really notice he wasn't one of the regular presenters. Good job!
Great to see another team member... Congrats Spencer.
That said, not a stitch of new information here. Please put those factory connections to good/better use.

Hey guys,
Good job, your videos are shortless and very informative.
Please do a Favorites & Fails about the new 2018 Yamaha mt07.
Thanks
Great review Spenser! Super informative and clearly spoken!
Do try to use other words than 'really' more often :P

whooaaa, new face, hi! nice to see new addition to the crew! give the fresh atmosphere! thumbs up for your informative long term review too!
Very good video Spencer! Hope to see you again!
A great series! I like the quick overview and opinions. Keep them coming! How about a Benelli or a Royal Enfield for some fun?

Lol I came down here to comment the same thing!
Spenser Robert good one man👍👍👍
Yep, he´s been behind the camera for quite a while, but he has also been in front of it once in a while for quite a few years. You might want to check out scooters in Thailand (or is it some other asian country) video he was in (it was really great video btw).
Star lord !
good review. i like the fav/fail vid concept. clever. thanks for the effort and the share. thumbs up.
Hey look, it's Zack's stuntdouble!
Great Video....how about doing a video on the Kawasaki Z900? How about some of the other competitors in the same class?
Wow I thought I was putting miles on my FZ10 but 13k you got me. Good to see these bikes can eat up mileage with no issue.
Great review, I wonder how it would compare with the new 2018 Triumph Speed Triple RS?
What the hell! You are a natural in front of the camera. Have I missed the previous 100 episodes you have been in?!
Great work Spenser, hope to see more of you

Im digging the format keep it up.
LOVE this series, wonder how the new speed triple changes this hyper naked segment now?
He did a really really, really really, really good job.
You really fit in with ari and zack! Cool presentation!
I like this segment! Keep it going!
Favorites and fails on,the KTM 1290 r plz, I'am just crazy about the 1290 r ,ahhh a longer video would be great 😁
I think the bolt pattern on the licence mount lines up with the one on the bike so you could loose that section that movies the plate and indicators back there. Would look better.
Looks like a really fun bike! Would love to try out a naked bike and compare it to my Husqvarna 510
Great job! Looking forward to seeing more of your videos in the future.
did you have any problems reliability-wise? is it difficult to clean? front end in particular looks like a pain. also, do you think SP version is worth extra money?
Best value in its class? Please do a F&F for the GSX-S1000, preferably the Z.
His review is not bad.. Well explained like Ari.. Keep up bro.
Ive got a 2018 MT-10, and like he said fuel is always a challenge. Ive jokingly nicknamed mine the MT-Tank
Excellent and concise review.
Make more series like this .. Short but complete ton of useful content in it
I have one and love it. Get the ECU flash, gain 15 hp, a little smoother throttle response, and the better seat....awesome bike, bad gas mileage :)
Joe Smith at least a mention of mods to correct the problem. I've heard Graves' throttle tube can also work magic.
You say the brakes sucked and you swapped the levers, MC, and lines. But did you change the pads?
Welcome back Spenser :)
What's your opinion on the Mt-10 vs Mt-09 on the fence about which one to get as an every day rider for city and occasional scenic rides with twistys. I'm 6' and lanky so don't like being cramped and rarely have a passenger. Also I won't keep the bike stock for long.
The FZ line is great, love my FZ-07 and the others I've had
GETUP AND GO FZ 07 got the ugliest blinkers ever even KTM 125 Duke has better looking blinkers
Thankfully blinkers are easy to replace, which I might be doing at some point
GETUP AND GO KTM is way better than Yamaha when it comes to the naked bike segment, I'm no KTM fanboy either it's just facts..
Maybe KTM will be one of my next bikes--gotta sell a few first, though
Agree with you the MT-07 is an amazing machine and definitely one of the nicest looking naked bikes. I still have to do mine up integrated taillight etc.
I know it's a little bit old, but I'd love to see a video like this about the FZ6R. Is that possible?

This is the MT-10, or I would say, the "Empty Tank"
Interested to hear that the US model packs 130bhp. Ours in Europe are putting out near 150bhp at the back wheel as stock.
Wait, the manufacturer says 158 HP ...
hes probably talking about WHP
@ the crank?
Great vid. Would love to see more vids like these!
Bike makes way more than 130 hp stock. Stock bikes typically dyno at the wheel ~138-140hp and tuned 150hp+

Could you do this test for ktm 1290 r and Honda cb1000r? By the way, videos like this one are great and very helpful! Thx!
Omg it's Spencer! Welcome to the other side of the lense, thanks for the info!
Ari and Zack can't ride em all, nice work in front of the camera, keep up the great work behind the camera too!
Whos this? Zack's brother?
Seriously, he really looks like Zack's brother :D
Ivan Vujošević ikr..
Might be his cousin.
Zack Courts but unlike ari, he actually looks abit like you :D
He even has a presentation style that is similar to Zack's
I'm gonna be positive and say welcome aboard, mysterious dude.
FZ10 you mentioned as 130 hp bike, Some sites say its 130+ but some sites also say its around 160hp. What exactly is the horsepower?
I was thinking about trading in my FZ09 for a fz10! Idk tho! I got my ecu flashed and man my fz09 is a BEAST NOW!!!
With the brakes, did you investigate alternative brake pads?
Change brake pads. 2 years and 17k miles I still love mine
These are down front six pot like on the 10-14 R1 models.
Please do 'Favorites & Fails' for Yamaha R1S.
For someone's first 1000cc bike, is it worth paying more for R1 over R1 S?
138hp? Damn. No wonder why the superduke has and still is "THE BEAST"!
Hey guys any idea what's the name of the green color shade used on the alloys?
Chill guys! He said he has been on this bike for long miles, he is actually more capable of giving us a real first person perspective of what's like to own an MT 10.
Great review!
More about the Brakes..Using stainless line and R1 MC and still not good. Different pad choice are is the Caliper not on par with the R1 caliper?
