We will be picking our 2004 Autocruise Starfire up next week & watching the these videos with Jason & the team has helped me so much to get used to what needs to be done to get started on our new adventure.. Keep it up Guys because you are doing a great job for all the new comers to Motorhome holidays.. Paul
great chap the motorhome man, just started watching your videos very good advice enjoy all the good advice that you give out, not got my motorhome yet still saving lol
Really useful fact full video. Explained in a Easy to understand way so that anyone can understand it. Brilliant. Thanks. While I'm here I'm going to be cheeky and ask you some questions!! I have a VW camper with under belly tank it supply's my heater, hob, and outside BBQ/GAS PIT point. I assume I only need the one regulator thats fitted in the van and I don't need one on each item. Would I be able to run BBQ/gas pit at the same time off one regulator or do they need separate feeds from the tank and there own regulators. Sorry lots of questions. But I want to make sure I'm doing it right.
What about storing one small butane cartridge for a camp stove inside of a van without drop vents? My thoughts have always been, even if there is a leak it would still stay below where I’m sleeping on the floorboard and in the underfloor storage areas?
If there's a leak you really don't want that gas in the van. Whether it's below where you're sleeping or not it's super dangerous to have this in the van. Generally speaking these camping stoves are pretty safe to store in the van as long as the butane cartridge is disconnected etc
THanks for all the info. When gas isn't in use in my motorhome, do I turn it off at the bottle or at the appliance cut off stage or other? Not sure what's best for when I'll be asleep or left on driveway?
very useful info, thanks. I have 2 propane bottles and when one empties I have to manually move the hose over to the other bottle. How easy would in be to install a automatic switch over?
I'm trying to figure out how to run butane in my camper vans propane system I read that butane needs a different regulator I guess because it operates at a different pressure? I'm in the US wanna travel to Latin America where I here propane is only available for commercial use and all the campers use butane
The calorific value of the two gasses is the same incase anyone wondered . Propane best for most things in my opinion Butane only really for indoor heaters
Hi, thanks for this. My MHome as a yellow Gasflow bottle which I fill at the petrol station through the external filler. Adjacent to the yellow bottle is an Unconnected red Propane bottle, which I use as a spare, should the yellow bottle run out. Two questions please - a copper flare seems to have been attached to the outflow of the yellow bottle as the pig tail going to the bulkhead regulator as a propane threaded bayonet attachment. Is this ok or should I change the pigtail to one that threads straight onto the yellow bottle outlet and discard the copper flare? Secondly, could I use a kit to have automatic switchover from the yellow bottle to the red bottle if the yellow runs out? Thanks!
Cheers, will do that - they’re due to be replaced due to age anyway. (And thanks for your advice on the live UA-cam thingy the other night re Skylight Sealant!)
I've no idea why anyone would choose to buy butane over propane in the UK climate. If the outside temperature drops below about 5 degrees C and you require gas at a fairly high rate, to run your heater, for example, then you butane cylinder will struggle to supply it, by the time the outside temperature gets to freezing, you'll get no gas at all. Propane on the other hand, will produce ample gas down to well below any temperature we ever see in the UK. Butane is only good for the summer months, cooking etc, when you don't need large volumes of gas to run your heater. Buy propane and it will always work, whatever the temperature, buy butane and it won't, as soon as the weather cools down.
The Motorhome Man , we don’t have a Motorhome at the moment but I’m trying to understand everything I can about Motorhome s. I think we would be looking at a 6 metre one when we do decide to buy. So a look at the smaller motor homes would be good.
Unfortunately there's no such thing as a 'freezing rate'. I think you're referring to the boiling point which refers to how easily the liquid gas will vaporise.
At 7.15 we saw actual LGP. Everything else had nothing to do with LPG! LPG IS A mix of butane and propane and can be loaded at a station. Butane and propane are refillable bottles. If u use electric hook up you only need gas for cooking so non LPG probably best. LPG better for Europe or off road camping as you’ll use a lot more gas so more cost effective filling up from a station. Your welcome. Ps you do not need a qualified engineer at any point. But it is better if you don’t know what your doing. Ie- correct gas fittings and in some cases purpose bought sealant on new lpg systems if doing it yourself. Checking for leaks etc.
Class video, most informative and detailed one I've found! Would love to see you expand on each point even further 👍
Thats nota bad shout Spunky 👍

You should be able to run one from the gas manifold

At the bottle or you can do both Samantha
@@TheMotorhomeMan Many thanks for quick reply. I wasn't sure if I was being overkill.
Another brilliant vid. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! Stephen
Hi Jason, just fitting safefill bottle to refil with lpg, what temperature will that operate please 🐧🐧
very useful info, thanks.

It is like swapping your regulator Bob.
Excellent tips Thanks

I think you would need a different hose to connect bottle to regulator 👍
Well done m8 a good insight 👏 👍stay safe
Thanks, you too! Brian

Well said Jon
Another good and well explained video , thanks . 👍🚐
Thank you Eric thanks for watching again.😀
Can I change my butane to propane ? Is it a case of just buying new bottles, or do I need to change jets in my fridge, hob and boiler in my van ?
Will need to change gas hose
@@TheMotorhomeMan Thank you 👍🏻

Is it safe to use butane or propane through a bulkhead regulator? Can the same hose be used ? Is it just different ways they thread on?
They are different hoses David
Very helpful as always
Glad to hear it!
Perfect gas
👍
Can you explain the change made in the last budget concerning VED.
Steve the government have reversed their decision.
is it a different hose from the propane bottle to the regulator if you're in France?
I do not know there Laurence
Can you mix the 2 gases when you top up at a lpg petrol station
You can but I would always go with propane.
@@TheMotorhomeMan does the petrol station in uk or Europe tell you which one they have?
🤔 That is a good question
@@sheraziqbal9556 I think car LPG is a mix of both butane and propane.
Great vid thanks
No problem 👍 Thank You Stephen

Very well put Andy
If the bottle was inside its unlikely to reach minus 5 plus I heard butane burns more efficiently or something.
Enjoyed the video very informative 🙂

Yes you are right Andrew I got mixed up.
Can you explain a fitted underslung lpg tank system please
I will Jacqueline I will have to see if we have a Motorhome in with one on.
You should not get any problems Moonshine.
