The best and worst parts about a job are all a matter of personal perspective. What one may be looking for as a pro may be considered by others to be a con. Take traveling for example. Someone with a family would most likely consider lots of travel as a con whereas someone that is single with no dependants may consider as a pro.
Perspective is key. I am trying to highlight points of frustration that you often hear (or I have experienced) of people trying to execute that role. @@SimplyCyber what do you think about this RMF or Soc Analyst ? A friend advised me to get into RMF after i get the job and while on the job i can learn Soc Analyst.
@@dastylee RMF (Risk management framework) is useful and would start building out your infosec job experience for resume. RMF is tied to GRC not secops/blue team where the SOC analyst works. So the experience you would be getting wouldnt help you be a SOC analyst. But if you got the RMF/GRC job you'd be working with SOC anlaysts (presumably) and could laterally get in that way.
Hey there Gerald is it better for me to invest 20k cash for a cybersecurity bootcamp or work my way up from getting a comptia a+ and net+ certs to get into it tech or helpdesk and work my way up. I only have a ged im 26 which makes me wonder if it's really possible to get a entry level job in CS off bootcamp and no degree? I also know i can keep my energy focused on one thing at a time so college for me isn't a realistic goal atm.
20k cash for a bootcamp sounds like a poor return on investment unless they can guarantee job placement with reputable companies, and even then i'd validate that with recent graduates. There is so much free content out there id get the free stuff, get the certs (you didnt say sec+ but i'd get that one if i were you), then get the job (and still have ~$18000 left over)
Sure. Hit subscribe and then check out the other videos. I have about 50+ and all literally explain the cybersecurity industry for entry level folks. Recommend 'how to get into cybersecurity with no experience' its quite deep a video and good place to start.
I graduate with a Bachelors in I.T with a minor in cybersecurity in just a few months. I refurbish laptops and PCs close to a year now. What is a good next step to get into cybersecurity
Sec+ cert, networking within the community, LinkedIn profile thats optimized, do some hands on lab type work for experience (rangeforce, tryhackme, Simply Cyber GRC Analyst Master Class). This will give you a lot of exposure to various areas and roles in the field and see what you like. If you already know what role you are drawn to, look at several entry level job reqs for that role and map where your gaps are from that role req and you current state, then make a plan on closing those gaps. Also worth lookin for internships although those aren't bountiful. if you refurb PCs for a company and the company has an infosec dept, reach out to them to express interest working in the field and if there is anything you can do to help support their mission.
When I am looking at job applications for "entry level" cyber security engineers, their requirements usually seem out of range for someone who is entering the field fresh out of college (not graduating yet, but I like to do research to make short-term and long-term goals). Should I just ignore the crazy requirements for those positions, or should I approach searching for those roles a different way?
As far as learning and beginning id say practical skills: defense - blueteamlabs.online or rangeforce; offensive TCM-Academy practical ethical hacking or INE PTS; engineering- pick AWS or Azure and take their free learning (cloud is growing)
This is gold. Not many youtubers talk about blue team and how much directions in this field. Thank you so much
I'm an equal opportunity cybers guy. You'll even get GRC stuff on this channel. Thanks Victro

What are you learning?
What is the career path for an Operator (Pen tester) for someone who is looking to get into IT, and has no current IT experience?
Here’s a curated playlist that covers a lot of detail in answering that question. Also I’d check out tcm academy pnpt .

Do you know of a free bootcamp for cyber? I am in alot of debts and I live by rude people...I want to get out of this troubles. Thank you?
You are awesome bro! Thank you for what you do!
Thank you so much!
When you say 'degree required', would a degree in a different field potentially satisty that requirement? I have degrees in law and liberal arts.
In most cases yes.
Thanks alot Sir Gerald Auger excellent presentation we love your content
Thank you kindly
Interesting narrative
Nice job Gerald. Love the video!
Thanks 🙏, any one of them really speak to you?
SOC Analyst is where I got my start. Good place to learn a little about a lot
Great video thank you for your enlightening words.
Thanks for taking the time and checking out the video.
@@SimplyCyber oh now i get it thank you for your time and reply.
There is so much free content out there id get the free stuff, get the certs (you didnt say sec+ but i'd get that one if i were you), then get the job (and still have ~$18000 left over)
i have been in a customer support profile so how can i get into this profile as most of the companies want experienced candidates in cyber security
Labs, networking, and skill development
Awesome information, thanks!
You bet! Thanks for the comment and the 'like'
I just watched Recon Infosec, that was great!
I can't thank you enough for this video.
I searched about cyber security and youtube recommend me this channel. Sir, can i know all details about cyber security in this channel???
Sure. Hit subscribe and then check out the other videos. I have about 50+ and all literally explain the cybersecurity industry for entry level folks. Recommend 'how to get into cybersecurity with no experience' its quite deep a video and good place to start.
What great info thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Very inspiring.

@@SimplyCyber It made sense and helped ease some of my concerns lol.
Do I really need a degree in Cyber Security to break into Security Engineering?
I want to start with defense, then learn offense, then engineering. What would you advise to start with in each to begin a lifeling mastery 😀
As far as learning and beginning id say practical skills: defense - blueteamlabs.online or rangeforce; offensive TCM-Academy practical ethical hacking or INE PTS; engineering- pick AWS or Azure and take their free learning (cloud is growing)
