Absolutely loved that scene with John and Flint. These pirate are so damn fickle, it doesn't take a lot for their loyalties to change... Great reaction yet again :)

This is one of my favourite episodes ever. The true beginning of SilverFlint! Cards on the table.
And I saw a BTS thing about this. The entire crew actually all but starved themselves for a month before that episode to properly portray the gaunt, emaciated feel of the experience. That's commitment! And it just makes the episode ring true.
Next episode is mad. But introduces two of my favourite characters
Can't wait for the next one!

I love Eleanor, mostly because she's written pretty well--and I hate her because of it, too. I mean why would she stick up for Nassau anymore? Her main connection was 1)Charles Vane, and 2)Her ability to mastermind the trade between Nassau and other port cities. When Vane killed her father he irreparably shattered any connection she had with him, and if she ever wants to oversee Nassau's trade again she has to do it with the British or not at all. Her only motivations are clear, and while it may seem a last-minute switch of sides to us, because we empathize with the other characters in the show, it is completely in line with what her motivations have been since day 1 because she isn't being swayed by emotional connections to the other characters.
I hate her because her motivations are no longer in sync with mine, but I love her because she has stuck to those motivations steadfastly whether I disagree with them or not. It's very purposeful writing, and a hallmark of why this show is fantastic.

Also targeting Vane is their best and only play--she knows that Vane and Flint are the main progenitors of any rebellion and the only two capable of stirring the larger crowd. The last Eleanor heard, the gold was out of reach and Flint was sailing to Charlestown seeking pardons. Thus, the only threat remaining is Vane, and she knows how far he'll go to fight against colonial rule, so he must be eliminated at all costs.

this is such a good analysis of her. her entire goal the whole show has been to rule nassau ("rule" feels harsh. precide over it?). she has spent her life fighting against gender prejudice in the 1700s.
I was never quite on board with Elenaor/Vane, but I genuinely think he's much better for her than Rogers, if nothing else because Vane always saw her as an equal. When she was a threat to him he took that seriously, when she hit him he hit back. Rogers sees her just like most men in the 1700s saw women.

Damn, you skipped my favorite scene of probably the whole show. The hallucination flint has where he tells miranda how broken he is over her death. Just so much emotion and good acting in that scene

I understand the frustration, but also rerember: They are pirates. They are not Vanes friends. Loyalty does not have THAT much of a meaning. Many of those pirates only knows Vane from fear of him. & a pardon would be a start of a new life. I understand you man xD but I do understand why they would just accept the deal like that...I know the pirates had codes & they united somewhat against authority etc. but they also constantly backstabbed eachother sooo...

When me and my sister were watching this episode when it came out, I saw the whale carcass in the water and I immediately said: "Food!"
My sister went: "They can't eat a rotting whale, can they?"
And I was like: "No, but they can certainly eat the sharks..."

What's with dogging on the woman? She didn't kill anyone, etc.
She did what she had to do AND helped the others.
She even did it democratically, getting consensus from the captains.
She's a teenager without parental support, being the fence all those guys need.
Please, take a good look at yourselves, & see why you call the woman
every rotten name, but the murderous men~ you adore. WTH❓❓😡

while i disagree with you on Eleanor (as in, I get her, but I don't like what she's doing), I genuinely enjoy how invested you are in Nassau as a free island haha. This show really pulls people in on their side against England!!
