    In this video I replace my battery on my Mk3 focus and reset the BMS.
    Not resetting the BMS after replacing the battery can have some weird affects.

    Brilliant video! Thanks very much! Just wish I had seen it before buying a new battery!! Recently got a Focus MK3. Next day "Low battery warning" showing when starting. Being a used car I immediately went to replace the battery as I had no idea as to how old it was. New battery in. Same warning. Google search and found your video. Now all is OK! Thanks again! (With hindsight I should have searched Google first and saved myself £90 for the new battery. Lesson learned!)

      Glad it was helpful! Tbh I never knew about the bms either. Was just because it started doing funny/weird things after. No worries All part of learning :-)

    Great video pal but there’s no need to remove that air box or anything else just unclip the front plastic clips and disconnect the battery as you did and it will slide out on a angle 👍🏼I done mine yesterday

      If you don't have the stop start battery, maybe you can get it out.
      But mine doesn't stand a chance without taking out the air box.

    Great advice thanks my car went flat when left on hols, put a new battery on as it was 8 years old, it was great for a few weeks then wouldn't switch off? Was losing power, would not open, alarm going off at 3am. I also cleaned the earth connector near the battery noticed it was painted over by Ford? Cars great now thanks 😊

    In the states is different you will have to turn on the ignition then you will have to turn the light on (do not leave it on Auto lights), you have 10 sec to flash your bright lights five times then you have to press the brakes three times and wait about 20 seconds until the battery light flashes about three times then your BMS is set

    Thanks I’ve just done a battery swop and did not know about this feature. I have low fuel light on with plenty of fuel registered on the gauge I hope what you demonstrated will cure this? Where did learn about the reset? Cheers. .

      Hi, it should do. When i did my battery I didn't know about the reset and it caused a few electrical gremlins. It was all fine after doing it.

    This small stuff with the small wires at the negative battery is not a BMS, It an explosive which cut the power from the car works together with the airbags. If you don't have this thing on an MK3 Ford that's probably means the airbags were open due to an accident, and after thatdoes not repaired well, beacus of cost saving.

    The original battery lasted well, thankfully my Focus had a battery before I bought it so that's once less job. Only issue I have is with the car taking an absolute age to get warm and even then the temperature guage goes up and down more than it should. I've read it could be the impellor on the waterpump? Mines a 2.0tdci like yours, has yours had his issue at all?

    • @FF04ORD
      @FF04ORD  Рік тому

      If it goes up/down and doesn’t stay on half (near enough) it could be your thermostat. Although this cold weather doesn’t help. Mine takes aages to warm up

    • @markmoore6264
      @markmoore6264 Рік тому

      I was thinking thermostat which looks quite a tricky job on the 2.0tdci, I'm having the timing belt and waterpump replaced in the new year so I'll see if that sorts it. Failing that it'll be a new thermostat, I'll keep you posted on the outcome 👍

      @@markmoore6264 I had mine done under warranty so sorry I can’t help with fitting. If having cam/water pump done I’d get them to do thermostat at same time as they ll drop the coolant anyways so will be cheaper in long run than having it done as a separate job
