As soon you pulled out that kitchen my mind was blown and were so excited to show it off like a kid lol love it. A dad has to have their toys, even better if you get to show em off.
I always say there's nothing wrong with being comfortable. I don't get off on "roughing it" unnecessarily. I like to keep it simple, but I swear some guys want a trophy for being uncomfortable and inefficient outdoors. My big fluffy pillow from home is my favorite camping accessory.
So at dinner tonight with my daughter I informed my wife of a major purchase for our 4Runner, the purchase of a GOBI Ranger rack. My daughter, who is in her 30’s and very much into Jeeping, was very excited. I also informed my wife that over the next six years I will be building a… and before I got the words out my daughter said, you’re building an overlander! My wife was said, a what!? So after my daughter and I explaining to my wife what overlanding is, she liked the idea but being the money mined person she is asked, what’s this going to cost? Our reply was, A LOT 😂. I’m not looking at retirement for ten years so I’ll have time to build our 21 4Runner, but like you, you’re never really done building. Well, sorry for the long comment, love your videos.
I would say upgrading the alternator is a must if you're going to add a battery (assuming you don't already have a high output alternator). I would recommend the jetboil genesis over a flash or sumo etc., the genesis will do it all.
A couple weeks ago I had a pipe burst in the house and had to turn the water off while I made 3 trips to fix it. Got the Dometic jug and pump out of the rig :)
good options. have you considered using all the existing cupholders in the 4wd to hold large water bottles, for drinking water. Saves having to decant and if one leaks you don't lose a lot of water. Also saves space and distributes weight.
HI MICHAEL 👋 GREAT VIDEO 📹 LOVE THE IDEAS & SETUP . BE SAFE ! HAVE FUN ! ENJOYED 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 THANK YOU 🙏 GOD BLESS YOU ALL ALWAYS ON YOUR ADVENTURES 🙏
First of all, you need to understand the differences between camping, glamping, overlanding, etc. Mainly, it comes down to objective. People often say we are "glamping" because we have a serious "overland/off road" rig. They are two completely different things. The objective of overlanding is to not stay in one location (especially a campground or parks), and to do backroads, and seek remoteness. The travel is part of the experience.
@@OverlandBound I'm in the middle of an over the top 96 single cab tacoma. Going to put bucket seats and giving a functional console in between. Probably where rocker switches are going. Hoping to have it finished by next year. But sas, motor swap, atlas and flatbed taking time and money.
@@therussmccurdy2602 i linked it above. there's one before that where they build it from cardboard but i couldn't find that one. the one i linked is the install.
Awesome video, Michael! Thank you. Great recommendations. Love that kitchen. SHOOT, what am I sayin? Love the whole build!! hahahaha .... Keep on keepin on, brother. Hope to meet y'all someday out there. Take care and be well. OB3746
As long as you properly secure your load, there isn't anything dangerous about hitch cargo platforms. Not all of us can afford large SUVs or trucks and then dedicate space permanently to the cargo drawer systems.
@@OverlandBound lol yeah just yesterday a I showed a aunt my setup and she told me “oh your glamping.” You don’t need all that fancy stuff. It’s about being efficient. Setting up camp fast and putting up just as fast to hit the road. That sleeping platform is the first time I see you deploy it. It was awesome and fast.

😂 my purple pillow goes everywhere with me
Yea I'm 37 and don't care for roughing it anymore. I'm all about glamping. As long as Im outdoors and doing what I like doing.
Well done
Just “retired” -- very much looking forward to finally having time to do a bit more glamping out my jeep.
Congratulations my friend!
I would suggest a rechargeable fan as well. Can help keep you cool in your tents and even helps fires get hotter and catch fire easier
I just got one this summer season.. a game changer!
I've got 2 on a gorilla pod style tripod, makes things so much better in the humid southeast summers
@@JDS-Dalton I bet! It’s been humid up here too in Washington! Heading up to the Olympic Mountains this weekend. Might be pretty cold at night tho!
Nice! Thanks Michael.

Gosh! I’ve been overlanding for 26 years and never realized it… 🤠

We use those too, but on a 10+ day trip you need other solutions.

What roof rack model and what rear bumper?
Gobi rack and Hanna Quality.
@@OverlandBound thanks
I already miss glamping . Do you guys customize build ? Oh shoot i love the kitchen stuff you have.
That water is cool... already running by the time you get the cup to it. Intuitive! LOL
Where is this, South Dakota, Idaho?!
What brand is the water can setup?
Where can I find those rails you have on the top of your rear storage? Seen right at the 5 minute mark.
They are great! This is the company: www.uscargocontrol.com/collections/l-track-tie-down-rails
Who built the storage drawers? That slide out platform is really nice.

First one👍🏼 great vids man i was just watching some glamp videos
Awesome! Thank you!
Did he ever finish the custom console and I missed it?
No! It looks good though - if interested hit me up in the app "Michael" and I'll send a pic - Parnell and I are back on it next week.

We like your inside bed but you didn't tell us anything about it. What is it, did you make it or buy it? PLEASE LET US KNOW
I made it! There is a complete video series on the channel and links to the plans!
Where can I found those rack mounts for the alubox?
Got those direct from Zarges.

What and where do I get that kitchen setup?
Right?! It’s a one-off I built with my friend Parnell.
Do you have a video of the build? I might have missed it
