I don't think she gave much choice at that point. Unless he wanted to take on the mother of child giving birth. Which she kind of explains that he didn't approve it.
My kids were named Victoria Jane (Jane after my mum) and then, 8 years later 😳, Ewan Thomas (Thomas after my brother who passed away a few years before). I never regretted either of them but here’s the thing....my oldest child told us when they were 21 (now 23) that they identified as non binary and wanted to change their name to one that was gender neutral. They asked us to help pick a name which was so amazing, they’re now called Jamie, which is a nod to my dad who passed a couple of years ago, and I love it!!! More importantly, they love it and the change in them is indescribable. I’ve had people asking if I mind the name change. My reply? It’s just a name, people change them all the time!! All we as parents can do is pick the one we love and thinks suits them best at the time and go with it, when our kids are old enough they can always decide for themselves ☺️.
@@amandav3509 Thank you, it definitely does! Life is way too short to be so discriminating AND we only get one chance so the most important thing for us is that our kids be happy in who they are...that way, everything else follows ❤️ xx
you are such a sweet parent it's so shocking and impressive. Good for you. So much love for you, honestly. I'm sure your kids love and appreciate you so much.
This isn’t really a regret, but just a little story... About a month after my husband and I met, it randomly came up that if he ever had a daughter, he would want to name her Penelope and call her Penny. I was shocked because that’s my late grandmother’s name, and I had always wanted to name a daughter Penelope. Now 6.5 years later, I’m pregnant with our first baby, a girl. We’re definitely naming her Penelope, but in these last few years it’s gotta so popular, AND we know 3 different people who have named their dogs Penny 😑 we’re still going for it because it means so much to us, but still! It’s a little bit frustrating.
My daughter’s name is Penelope as well. My husband was 16 and at the time he knew his first daughter would be named Penelope. We call her Penny. It suits her so well. But yeah, kinda sad how it’s gained in popularity.
Okay maybe I’m crazy, but I would LOVE if you had a podcast where you interviewed people about baby names, and dedicated segments to different names... idk how you would do it but I would love that! I always want to listen while I’m driving and what not ❤️
I went to school with a Lena pronounced (leeena). I always think of pictures with names! My friends all laugh at me!!! For Example , and I could go on for hours!!!! My friend Kimberley , Thats a ball of wool, Archie ,colourful wooden blocks in a bridge shape, Marlowe , a faceted glass bead...... etc etc
A foster child we used to look after was called Jupiter. His mum was a Romanian gypsy but because Jupiter had a heart condition and she couldn’t get him health care she gave him up so he could get health care. He was a beautiful baby, sadly passed away when he was 3 but we used to call him Jup or Juppy xx
Jupiter is my dream baby name, but for a girl. I’m due in 8 weeks and I want to call her Jupiter Rose. But everyone I mention it to laughs as their first reaction and I’m getting really sad and off put by it. But juniper is acceptable I don’t see why Jupiter can’t be.
@@samanthairving356 i love love loveee Jupiter! i'm a daycare teacher and we have a little Juniper that often gets weird looks from new parents as well but i absolutely love her name. i know i'm a stranger on the internet but i say go with what you really love because you'll never regret it.
im 16 but im already afraid of whether or not im going to regret my kids' names later on or if i will regret not picking a name. i personally have two middle names, so i think i will do that with my kids
I have 4 daughters. Noel Ivy was born on Christmas Day. My second daughter is named Wren Monroe. My third daughter is named Ada Eileen, and my 4th is Rowan Elle!
It's funny isn't it, we almost mourn for all the names we don't use. Now that we're trying for a baby, I look at my name lists and feel sad that I won't be able to use them all. Anyone else?!
Yes absolutely! I always wanted to name a daughter Luna, but it's way too close to the name we chose for our son... I think I will always mourn not being able to use that name.
Yes! My children have a theme of Spanish/Italian traditional firsts + country English middles + Spanish last + Italian last. Finding names that flow in 3 different languages is HARD!!! That sound good in each language even when mispronounced??? 😂 They have very unique name combos, though. They get a lot of compliments, but the ones I never used are sad because it feels like they wouldn’t fit any other family.
Aw I love your children’s names! Although I do admit Jude really suits Finn. As far as naming a child myself, my husband and I have agreed to keep our baby name list a secret until the baby is born. I feel like it’s harder for family members to criticize a name once they have a sweet little baby face associated with it. 😊
Completely agree! My partner likes to tell his parents names we’ve spoken about but I don’t like anyone having an unnecessary opinion! 🤔 I’d love it to be a surprise for everyone when the baby arrives! Xx
Totally agree -- I learned this the hard way! I had a couple of people criticize our name choice when I was pregnant with my son (I got a text from a friend saying "Please don't name your baby that LOL"), so we stopped sharing the name until he was born. And now that he's here, lots of people tell us how much they love his name!
I will be doing the same! Ny cousin shared the name of her baby before he was born and her friends tried to talk her out of it as they had a friend with that name they didn't like. Had they just introduced the little adorable bundle with the name I don't think anyone would have reacted :/
I love it. She was often used as a symbol above women’s safe houses. The male version of the story is that Athena turned her into a gorgon as punishment for sleeping with Poseidon in her temple. The female version is that Athena turned the priestess into a gorgon to protect her from the sexual advances of the male gods.
I really wanted Marley for my son but his dad was having none of it. I suggested Marlowe as a compromise after watching one of your videos about the name you liked for your daughter and it was a hit... our Marlow was born in June and it suits him perfectly. We just removed the e as we thought it looked more masculine that way. Thank you for the inspiration!
My girls are Annmarie and Flory. I always loved Elizabeth and didn’t get to use it. I also loved Rosemary. I didn’t have enough children so I could use all the names. My advice to you her women (I am 62), if you want more children, have them. I wish now I had had more children.
I was set on the name Freya for my daughter. We changed our minds and I regret it some days. She has golden hair just like the Norse Goddess and then the goddess rides in a chariot pulled by cats and my daughter is obsessed with cats lol 🙃
Brittany Walker thats beautiful u could make it ber middle name if it sounds good together ❤️ my mom still regrets not naming me Rosa Rubinia 😂 not sure if I like that but Freya is beautiful and strong and peaceful at the same time
I love you comment on how we all have different "tastes" when it comes to baby names. This is why my hubby and I are not telling anyone the name till our little one is born. Our thought is : not their kid, we dont need or want their opinions on the name.
Most people pick a name & go with & don't give it another thought but us name lovers always have second thoughts don't we ! We all need to have 10 kids just for the names.
Before getting married, I wanted to name my future daughter Abigail... turns out my husband's last name is Williams, so I decided not to do that! 🙈 (character in The Crucible play if anyone is confused by that)
I regret my deceased daughter’s middle name. Her name was Caroline (pronounced like Lynn) Jean. Her father INSISTED she have the family middle name for first born girls, Jean. I don’t hate the name (my new mother in law is Jean - from England too), but there’s a lot of animosity with my ex husband and tbh my daughter doesn’t deserve that much negative weight to her name even though she’s not here.
Had to pause this video to say... I never knew that Tesco’s F&F stood for Freddie & Florence!! Is that why their rebranded baby stuff like wetwipes is called Fred &. Flo ?? Wow, mind blown 🤯
I have a daughter called Florence and am currently pregnant with my second and my partner loves the name Freddie but I have to say a firm no for this exact reason 😂
I’m pregnant with my first & we are making him August Drew. We have had this named picked out way before we ever knew we were pregnant & everyone knew that would be our name choice if we ever had a boy. We have had soooo many negative comments from our family saying it’s a girl name or that it’s just strange. But me & my husband love it so much and just have rose colored glasses on when it comes to the name August so we are using it regardless.
It’s a beautiful choice and you’re going to have to raise him, not them 😂 besides once you have your name, it’s just that. Your name. People don’t question it anymore.
I had the opportunity over 20 years ago to adopt a 2 year old boy named Matthew. I turned the child down bc I wanted an infant, even though my hubby and I had chosen the name Matthew for our first son. I regret that decision and think of that little boy so often. Years later I did have a baby girl, my husband misspelled her name and chose her middle name as I was almost dying on the table. Later on we did adopt an infant boy, at at that time I wanted a toddler! His birth mom named him and we kept the name,Elijah. So in actuality, I never named by kids!
When I was pregnant my granny told me not to name my baby something 'stupid' like 'Aurora' (which I also love) and laughed. I was then lucky enough my partner loved my favourite name Leia (Lay-ah)! When my granny found out she said oh there was me telling you not to call her something stupid then you picked that and laughed at it. But I would never regret naming her that and glad I didn't listen to her. You do you!
Twins run strongly in my family and a pair of names I love for twins are Willow and Oakley, I get a lot of people saying they don’t like Oakley or that they don’t like the names together but I really love them 💕
I would really really love to see a baby boy name list! Struggle with names for boys that sound both strong and romantic with a good nickname. It would be great to hear some and get some inspiration 😊 it would also be great to have a 'bonus baby name' video! It has been a while and I love these videos too much- one just isn't enough! 💞
I love that you posted this! If even you have baby name regret, then I don’t feel as alone. Picking names is so challenging... so much to consider, especially as you have more children and you want their names to complement each other. Jude and Marlowe were on my list as well. Shepherd was another.
When I was born my parents were trying to decide between 3 names. The names they didn’t choose were Alyssa and Amelia. The name they did choose was Ahnika! I’m so happy they did too. My name is unique and I’m glad they took the risk with the one that was kind of out there.
This sounds like ah then you know the n word. There was a girl in my class named ma’nikka. :( ppl would make fun of her since she was blk and well her name.
@@mambowjumbow Haha yes, thank you for pointing this out...... if you think that way it might sound like that but I've never in my life had anyone ever say anything like that to me. Maybe if that girl's parents would have spelled it "Monica" it wouldn't of been a problem. It's a pretty well known name especially because of Friends. Most people don't even use my full name, they just call me Ahn (pronounced like on) or Ahni (ah-knee)
I have such a long list of names that I love. I really like long names that have the potential for a lot of nicknames, so that my potential child could choose a nickname based on their personality as they grow older. I comfort myself by thinking “if I don’t name my kids this, one day it could be the name of a character in a book I’ll write!”
Almost every person (except for my girl friends who would totally support any name because they are lovely) didn’t like my baby name but, especially now that we’ve decided only to have one, I am so glad I didn’t let other people bully me into a name I wasn’t crazy about. I would’ve been heart broken not to have my Rory ❤️
My daughter is 14 months old and we named her Evelyn Rose. Which part of me is deeply regretting because I didn't realize how common it really was. I had wanted to name a girl Evelyn for most of my life and my husband wanted to name his daughter "Ellen Rose". I didn't like Ellen much so we combined them for Evelyn Rose. We loved it, it was classic and feminine and beautiful.... but there are SO many Evelyns and Evie's around (we call her Evie - (EE-vee) that it just doesn't seem as special as I always wanted it to be growing up.
This has been my mom's lifelong struggle too. She thought Madeleine was unique but there's been a million in my life especially if you add in Madison's and Maddie's. But I love my name and I bet your daughter will too.
Same thing happened to me with Charlotte. I had dreamt of using it since I was little and never heard it anywhere until now it's everywhere and that has totally ruined it for me. 😔
So, your name is Jane, you love the name Clementine My sisters name is Clementine and her second name is Jane (But it is written Jeanne) that's so weird and funny 😂
I really disliked the name clementine for a while but then learned Winston Churchill’s wife was named Clementine and that helped me come around to it. Learning it was a vintage name made the difference for me. Maybe that will help your bf!
My eldest daughter was going to be Yasmin throughout my whole pregnancy if she was a girl (we didn’t know the gender) and when she was born I saw her and she really did not look like a Yasmin in the slightest. So had to start from scratch and it took me a day and a half to come up with Leila. So when I had my second child I thought I’m not going through that again we’ll just name baby when it arrives. Within a couple of hours of her arrival we came up with Eleanor. Then we did the same again with number 3 and I was so shocked at how tiny she was she needed a really pretty dainty name so was poppy. They all have the same middle name which ties them together nicely it’s my middle name Mae although people think it’s weird they’ve all got the same name I like it and I don’t have any regrets.xx
I just wanted to say I think It's really nice that they have the same middle name. My step sisters both have Kate as their middle names to tie them together as for most girls they don't keep their last name.
That is how I thought I would always be. I am only 7 weeks along but when I was waiting to go into the fertility clinic I felt an enegry come and a name whispered in my ear. So I still want to wait until I meet the baby, but I just don't know if I can let it go. Last spring I kept picturing a baby/girl named Naomi and that is what my sister and bil picked for their first baby. So it makes these whispered names are really just kids waiting on the other side.
I always knew I'd give my kids traditional "normal" names as I grew up (in Scotland) with a Dutch middle name and a Polish surname and I always got picked on and felt the odd one out as all 3 of my siblings had "normal" middle names. So my kiddos are Emily Fiona Annabeth, Oliver Richard Daniel and baby Sophia Thea Isabella who is ten weeks old 🥰 I also loved Caleb, Nathaniel and Beatrix.
Thank you for sharing all those beautiful names! I love all the names you chose for your children. Actually in Swedish there are two very similar names, Lina and Lena. Lina is more pronounced like you pronounce Evelina (but without ”eve”) and Lena more like you pronounced Lina in your video. So perhaps that is the name you heard? Might of course also have been a Swedish dialect making it sound like that. Evelina is actually also not an unusual name for girls in Sweden. Such an adorable name!
I really love the name Gwendolyn, my youngest daughter was nearly named that. The days she was born I had 4 different people tell me it was a horrible name and the pressure from them made me change her name. I do love the name she has now but I do wish I had a Gwendolyn
I Love the name Gwendolyn! It’s not at the top of my name list but it’s still in my top ten. I had a friend also tell me it wasn’t a nice name? Like I care. It’s a beautiful name 💖 I love the name Gwendolyn Abigail with either Gwen or Wendy for short
I've just had my 2nd baby girl Esme Sophia, we got the name Esme from one of your videos thank you 🥰 our other daughter is Annabelle Eve which I still love too xx
I call my son Cricket but put Nathan on his birth certificate because a few “friends” (not true friends) told me I would regret calling him Cricket. Now, he’s older and goes by Nathan. I love it because it’s like I got to have both baby names. But every now and then I wish I would have just put Cricket on his birth certificate.
To anyone who's pregnant, don't tell anyone the names you're thinking of! Someone wont like it and will say something to put you off. If you've had the baby and say the name, no one will say oh I don't like that! I loved Ivy, but my partner's friend said it was an old ladies name then he was adamant we couldn't call her that. I loved Ivy as we have a Hollie already, and my nan was Ivy, and my Dad was Ivan. We went with Rosie though, and although it wasn't my first choice, I love it now and for several reasons, it means so much. Plus, Hollie and Rosie, we still have two flowers ❤️
I wish I had seen your post sooner. I have been made to feel AWFUL over the name I was heart set on (by babys father) I want to call him Shepherd. But I can't get the awful things he said out of my head. So I'm desperately trying to fall in love with something new.
The video I've been waiting for!! I love finding out why people change their minds about names and what they switch to. Definitely open this up again to the community
Your kids have such cute names! I am SO thankful I had a girl because my boyfriend & I neverrrrr fully agreed on a boy’s name! He likes more traditional & I like really uncommon names. For our daughter we agreed on Magnolia Jane. It ended up matching both our styles. 💛
My son is Asher Maximilian. It was tough to find a name that both my husband and I loved. We are very happy with the choice. Asher is now 15 years old and loves his name as well.
When I first heard the name Evelina, it went straight to the top my name list but then my cousin had a girl named Evelyn. Then I fell in love with the name Marlowe but just a few months ago another cousin named her daughter Harlowe. I just can't win. 😂
I’ve noticed as my ideals in life are changing, so are my baby names. I’ve always like country, southern sounding names and after hearing you say Atticus (a name I’ve loved since I read how to kill a mocking bird) I thought “Atticus and Clark” (Clark has been my number one baby name, always. It can be considered southern or sophisticated modern and that’s why I love it) and I think those would be beautifully paired as a sibset
My little boy is called Didier, we call him Dids for short and I love it! His middle name is Lewis after the Isle of Lewis in Scotland, where all my family are from 💕 My husband is french so I wanted a french name! And my newborn daughter is called Nina ✨
I don't regret my daughter's name exactly, but we didn't tell it to anyone until she was born so I never heard anyone use it till we had already picked it. Her name is Cleodora or Cleo for short. We still love it, but didn't ever consider how often she would be called Chloe! It happens all of the time. Even with my own parents. I still like it but I wish I had realized that that could be an issue
We have such similar taste in boys names, especially! My little boy is called Arthur and our shortlist should our next baby be a boy is Atticus, Felix, Finn and Forrest! Also totally agree about having to consider the whole fam, my nephews are all J names and I feel like I can’t use one because then Arthur will be the odd one out for longer 😂 x
I love unusual names. I don’t know why people want names the same as everyone else. I was the only Amber I ever met until in my teens people I knew started Choosing it for their daughters. Now whenever I watch movies it’s always strippers that are named Amber 🙄
My name is Hailey and at this point in my life, I've started to feel so detached from it. So many Haileys, with a variety of spellings, that I've known and heard of throughout my life. In 6th grade, there was another Hailey in my class and we had to always have the initial of our last names added when people would talk about or to us. And also with school work. The name in itself is not a bad name, by all means, but I just have a hard time feeling like it's really me because it's used so often. And when I say it to myself, to hear it, it just doesn't sound right. That's why I've started to prefer using Hais as my name on things.
As I’ve gotten older I’ve met more Rachel’s, but I feel like we’re always prejudged to be a type A witch, or stupid and stuck up like the character on friends. 😫🙄. Yay, for name association, am I right?
If UA-cam and Internet had been around 23 years ago, I might not have chosen Amanda. I love how it flows with our one syllable last name. It means “worthy of love” and she was adopted from China, so I think it’s perfect, even though it’s so common. I should have had more kids so I could name more babies. A sister would have been Annalia. I love Anna-Leah as a double barreled name, but not really the idea of double barreled. I think the Annalia spelling fixes that problem.
You are so right about not everyone liking the names you like. I am sure my mum is not going to like the names I pick, but I don't even think I'll share names with anyone apart from my partner before the (potential) child is born. When they are born people will just have to accept it anyways :) Like I love the name Elektra, but I am certain my mother and sister will find it really weird.
My maternal grandmother, paternal grandmother, and my step-grandmother were all named Lillian. They had all died before our daughter was born, and I wanted to use that name or some variant of it. But my husband was dead set against it. Eventually we chose Susannah, because we loved it and it means “lily.” She is 25 now and she’s very happy with it. But people often confuse it with Savannah.
I’ve got three boys, Noah Jude, Rupert Henry and Ethan William. We really regret not saving Jude for a first name for our youngest or calling him Wilf or Angus. Next baby will have one of those names for sure! Love reading all the comments, beautiful names! Xx
I know this is a weird question but where would you recommend living after London? I live in Richmond and want to buy a house but don't want to give up all the creature comforts of London! I know you've lived in London so would love to hear your thoughts on great places to raise kids
We’re expecting a baby boy in December. Seriously considering Jude Lowen for middle names for this baby. Lowen is a Cornish name that means happy. I grew up going to Cornwall for holidays and love taking the kids there now when we visit the UK. Still working on a first name for this baby...
I wanted to name our daughter Beckham (not popular in USA) but husband wanted Halle, so Halle it was. She’s 2 weeks today and I don’t feel attached to her name. Doesn’t help that he gave me no input the entire pregnancy. I was stuck in Summer as her name but wasn’t in love with it.
Evelina is so pretty. If she ends up as something serious, she can use a nickname that sounds better at the bottom of a corporate letter, like “Evie B. [lastname], Solicitor”.
I'm Dutch so the names of our kids are a bit weird for you maybe, but we are so happy with them! We have: Daughter: Lotus Elyse Sophia Son: Rune Félan Indigo Son: Bosse Espen Oliver Daughter: Vieve Rosa Aurelia We love names with meaning and al these names mean exactly how we felt would fit the upcoming baby. They wear their name with pride and it suits them so wel!
We have a Juniper! It is a wonderful name and very phonetic. She often gets called “Jennifer “ when first meeting people because people aren’t used to hearing the name Juniper.
I almost named my daughter Juniper, but my last name is Pinkerton and I wondered if it would be “too much.” Her name is Willa, which I love but I still have a soft spot for the name Juniper!
I found your channel looking up the name Evelina. I'm currently pregnant and it's on my name list. It was my great great grandmother's name. I love the names Ophelia, Elsine and Venady and the hubby said no.
I don't have children, but I decided that if I do have kids I'm going to stick to the classics. I've taken the "you're naming a *person*, not a baby or a pet" advice to heart haha. Lydia or Clementine for a girl, Frederick, August, or Jonas for a boy.
i don’t have a child and i’ve never even been in a relationship before but i still love to think about names for if i ever am to have children in the future, all i know is that i’d want names that have good nicknames and i think i love the middle names Gray and Rain
My names list for girls are Marina, Celeste, Lucia, Celine, Florence, Josephine and Jasmine. I will definitely name my future daughter one of these. I love how they are known but not overly. They also have beautiful meanings too.
My babies are 30 and 24.the eldest is laura and the younger one is called Roisin a Gaelic name pronounced Ro - sheen little rose in English.if it was now I would choose Meredith and Shelby.
I haven't named a baby yet, but I'm sure I'll regret something! However, my sister has two boys and she always dreamed of having a little girl named Delaney Karah. Delaney is a family last name and Karah is a combination of my name and our older sister's name (Katherine and Sarah!) so I'm sure that's a regret for her!
I named my eldest daughter Ninah. I still love her name, but I sometime wish that I’d stuck with the traditional spelling of Nina. At the time I felt it would make it a bit unique, I now realize that unique spelling doesn’t make a name any better.
I only had one girl, but while my husband and I could agree on boy's names we could not easily agree on girl's names. We finally found one that we both loved, but the names that he hated and I loved for a girl were Amina, Beatrice, Bina, Niamh, Mina, Sabine, and Tomei.
In the middle of our fourth and probably final pregnancy and we are so struggling with names this time! I really want Caspar (family name) but my husband thinks he needs a more “common” name to fall back on. I really want to go for it like we did in our last pregnancy when we used the family name Ernest. I feel like we’ve come so far with using such an unusual name for America last time that I want to use the sentimental name again and just got for it. Idk what’s holding him back but he thinks Shepherd or Atlas would be a little more mainstream 😂. I think I’m gonna hold strong this one last time and maybe give him one of the middle names to choose for himself. Send me brave naming vibes please 💞
My friend's name is Brontë and she always disliked her name. She goes by Jane at work, not sure if anyone except HR knows that her first name is Bronte 🤷🏻♀️
Will you be doing an updated ‘not the top ten names’ list? I know a few names are still in the top ten, but you could give different alternatives than your previous video?xx
I am due in a little over a week! 😳 We are having a surprise baby. If it's a girl I know I will have baby name regret for Alma. It's my favorite favorite name and my husband just thinks it's okay. I obviously want him to love the name, so there will be regret for me!
Such a beautful name! If you're that in love with it maybe your husband could grow to love it too once he sees the sweet babe that belongs with that sweet name. I fell head over heels for Evangeline when I was 7 years old and when I was expecting my daughter it was the first name I suggested to my husband. He wasn't a huge fan, but throughout the entire pregnancy I expressed how much I loved it and how lovely it would be because I could not just let the name go. Our Evangeline is now almost 18 months old and her name suits her so perfectly. My husband grew to love it and everyone won.
My mums called Alma and I love it, she does too because it's not common and it suits a baby and an adult. If I was you I'd try and talk hubby round. It's on my list for sure x
@@oliviagiles2120 keep that hope! It isn't too late, if you're already regretting it then it must be the name! Hopefully your husband will see just how much you love it and how much it means to you and it'll be the little nudge he needs. If he thinks it's okay you're already half way there 😉
Alma is a fantastic name! You could hold off on naming her for a day or two, and then state that you think her name is Alma, and ask your husband what he thinks her middle name is :)
My only regret is not knowing about a different name when I named my daughter. I spend the whole pregnancy struggling to come up with the right nam & then just stuck one on her a week after she was born. Her name is Olive Kate, which I do like, but if I would've heard the name Ada that's what I would've gone with 10000%. I look at her all the time & think how Ada would suit her better!
Great vid SJ. I think it sounds like Freddie is the perfect name for him. Especially if he's a bit shy. I don't think Atticus (albeit a lovely name) would have been right. I suppose we have to remind ourselves these are their names now (not our names) and what they think of their own names is much more important now than what we think of them. If they end up preferring their middle names when older, they can use them as primary name of course
My boy is names Percival Sinclair. And when my husband and I had chosen a name we told everyone. My mother was terrible and told me she hated it and that I had to pick something else. I will admit that if she had been nicer about it i might have thought about changing it but her reaction sold me to it more.
I have loved the name Evander for 10 years, since our first girl was born. We now have had two boys but my husband wasn't sold on the name and the two we picked ended up being perfect for our boys. Still love rhe strong sound and meaning of Evander "good man/leader". And Florence was always on my name list but again vetoed by my husband.
I love my flower name 🌸 ❤️ So, My husband and I both have J names, for some reason we decided to give our children all J names too 🤦🏼♀️ also my daughter is Joslynn and I wish I had spelled it correctly as Jocelyn but my husband said the correct spelling “wasn’t feminine enough”.
I really wish I would have saw your comment almost two years ago, even though you made it a year ago. I REALLY wanted to name our daughter Ozlynn. My husband shot it down. I said for a middle then. Still got a nope. We knew we were going to do a J name for a middle. He decided at the last minute, fine do Ozlynn for the middle. I asked with a Z or an S. He said S and I just went with our other J middle name. I wish I would have seen your spelling for your daughter (we spelt my Daughter’s middle name wrong too. Supposed to be with a G and we did a J.). Anyway, I would have totally went with Joslynn. It hit everything we were looking far. I should change her name. Ha.
Believe me your children will thankyou for giving them names that they will be happy with. Why beat yourself up over it, it's a name and they are lovely names x
I’ve just had my baby today she is called Autumn Ivy 💗
Ah huge congrats! What a gorgeous name too 🥰🥰🥰🥰
What a gorgeous name!!!! Congratulations xxx
AWWWWWW CONGRATS SUCH AN ADORABLE NAME
SHE HAS AN AWESOME MUM
Can u do vlogs of u n autumn ivy
Congratulations! Such a beautiful name ❤
It’s funny how he said flower names are airy fairy but he agreed to Evelina Blossom. I’ve never heard of a more fairy name 😂😂
On
Mommmm
Mm
Mmmmmmo
Agreed 😂😂😂
I love this! You are such a good parent!
@@kileyhentschell1544 aw thank you ☺️. Thankfully my kids tell me the same, life complete! X
You’re an amazing parent 💕 The world
needs more loving and accepting parents like yourself
What about Nellie or Nel for short.
My daughter’s name is Penelope as well. My husband was 16 and at the time he knew his first daughter would be named Penelope. We call her Penny. It suits her so well. But yeah, kinda sad how it’s gained in popularity.
I have a Penelope and we call her Penny as well :-)
I know a baby Penelope Mable who goes by Penny may
I rather share my name with dogs than with many humana
Okay maybe I’m crazy, but I would LOVE if you had a podcast where you interviewed people about baby names, and dedicated segments to different names... idk how you would do it but I would love that! I always want to listen while I’m driving and what not ❤️
That's a good idea!
I agree. Name stories

I’m in love with romantic boys names and would love to see a list💖

What a beautiful name but that’s very sad

I love those names!! Especially Rowan! So cute 💕
Those are so pretty
Noel Ivy is so beautiful!💓
I have a 14 month old niece named Rowan. She is even more beautiful than her name and is the absolute star of the family. ❤️
It's funny isn't it, we almost mourn for all the names we don't use. Now that we're trying for a baby, I look at my name lists and feel sad that I won't be able to use them all. Anyone else?!
Nooo, your lucky... I wish I had one name on my list..or twelve. Any would be great😅😂 I'm due in a month
Yes absolutely! I always wanted to name a daughter Luna, but it's way too close to the name we chose for our son... I think I will always mourn not being able to use that name.
@@theendtimes1705 have you had your baby yet?
We shouldn’t be left naming a person when we can’t even pick what we want for lunch”
i felt that in my sooouulll 😂😂
Aw I love your children’s names! Although I do admit Jude really suits Finn.
As far as naming a child myself, my husband and I have agreed to keep our baby name list a secret until the baby is born. I feel like it’s harder for family members to criticize a name once they have a sweet little baby face associated with it. 😊
That’s what we did.
My son's name is Mojave and my mother hated the name. After she told a few friends his name and they all loved it, she decided it wasn't so bad.
One of my middle names is Medusa, and my parents regret it a bit because she's always seen as a monster. It actually means Guardian and Protectress.
I like it!
@@ThatDutchGurl I like it too. I've never met anyone who's called Medusa.
I love it. She was often used as a symbol above women’s safe houses.
The male version of the story is that Athena turned her into a gorgon as punishment for sleeping with Poseidon in her temple. The female version is that Athena turned the priestess into a gorgon to protect her from the sexual advances of the male gods.
I like Medusa! I also came across a Sedusa in a cartoon and loved it as well.
Wow greek mythology middle name sister!! My middle name is Elektra. My mum also regrets it now. I will not be passing it down 😅
I really wanted Marley for my son but his dad was having none of it. I suggested Marlowe as a compromise after watching one of your videos about the name you liked for your daughter and it was a hit... our Marlow was born in June and it suits him perfectly. We just removed the e as we thought it looked more masculine that way. Thank you for the inspiration!
Aww that reminds me of the little girl from minions ☺️
My girls are Annmarie and Flory. I always loved Elizabeth and didn’t get to use it. I also loved Rosemary. I didn’t have enough children so I could use all the names. My advice to you her women (I am 62), if you want more children, have them. I wish now I had had more children.
My daughter's name is Evelina Sky. She is about four weeks old now!!
How Cute😱 Congratulations!
Ahhh I love another evelina! What a gorgeous middle name too; huge congrats to you xxxx
Congrats! What a beautiful name! 🥰

My maternal grandmother is Lovina Minuet and I think it is just the most gorgeous name I’ve ever herd! ❤️
Wow, that is beautiful!

isn't that a Romany name lovina?
How’d u pronounced that
Atticus, Felix & Evelina: Love those together!
Or Atticus Felix and Marlowe!
I knew a boy who has the middle name Felix and he was bullied a lot at school because he had the middle name Felix.
Haha😂
Before getting married, I wanted to name my future daughter Abigail... turns out my husband's last name is Williams, so I decided not to do that! 🙈 (character in The Crucible play if anyone is confused by that)
hey im an abigail! im honored you like my name :)
@@abbyturner2 Aw that's awesome! It's a beautiful name 😊
I hate my name
😂🥰 yes it was Fred and Florence or Florence and Fred when it launched!! X
I have a daughter called Florence and am currently pregnant with my second and my partner loves the name Freddie but I have to say a firm no for this exact reason 😂
It was Florence & Fred, best part of a Tesco shop was running off to look at the clothes while my mum got stuff done!
Evelina blossom is a unique and gorgeous....
I adore the name August - good choice!!
I luvvvv that name!!
I love this name
It’s a beautiful choice and you’re going to have to raise him, not them 😂 besides once you have your name, it’s just that. Your name. People don’t question it anymore.
August is a strong name , I love it for a boy
You do you!
If my son had been a girl I’d have used Leia- it’s a brilliant name!
Twins run strongly in my family and a pair of names I love for twins are Willow and Oakley, I get a lot of people saying they don’t like Oakley or that they don’t like the names together but I really love them 💕
Love Oakley!
Ah thank you!! Yes I’ll sneak one in for you!! I’m working on a little extra series now too :-))))) x
@@SJ_Strum Yay! Thank you so much. Made my morning 🥰
I love that you called her Evelina! I’ve hardly ever met any Evelyn’s or Evelina’s! Evie is so popular now but I love having an unusual name 🥰
I had never heard the name Bronte until one of my lifelong friends started dating a girl named Bronte! It's so unique and cool
My niece is called Evalyn Rose😊
Same thing happened to me with Charlotte. I had dreamt of using it since I was little and never heard it anywhere until now it's everywhere and that has totally ruined it for me. 😔

My sisters name is Clementine and her second name is Jane (But it is written Jeanne) that's so weird and funny 😂
Clementine...no. that sounds ugly especially for a girl. That's a fruit.
I really disliked the name clementine for a while but then learned Winston Churchill’s wife was named Clementine and that helped me come around to it. Learning it was a vintage name made the difference for me. Maybe that will help your bf!

Aww Clementine is a lovely name, I know a little girl named Clementine and she goes by Tiny. Super cute!
Ah I love that they share a middle name! A friend of mine used her eldest sons middle name as her second sons first name and I think it’s so nice xx
Eleanor Mae has been on my baby name list, love that first/middle combo
I looooove all the same middle names, that's so special!
Our twins were gonna be Nigel and Natalie, but I’m VERY glad we went with Grant and Galilee because just like Shepard, it suits them.
Omg you look JUST LIKE saoirse Ronan! 🤯
Congratulations what a crazy time to have a baby, I had bellamy-rose 7weeks yesterday x
My Nathaniel was born 5 weeks ago today!
@Priya S my grandmothers were Elizabeth and Anna and I considered Bethany but then changed it around to Annabeth
My cat is Beatrix 💕
That’s a shame, I love the name Gwendolyn/Gwen. What did you name her in the end?
I Love the name Gwendolyn! It’s not at the top of my name list but it’s still in my top ten. I had a friend also tell me it wasn’t a nice name? Like I care. It’s a beautiful name 💖 I love the name Gwendolyn Abigail with either Gwen or Wendy for short

I call my son Cricket but put Nathan on his birth certificate because a few “friends” (not true friends) told me I would regret calling him Cricket. Now, he’s older and goes by Nathan.

When I first heard the name Evelina, it went straight to the top my name list but then my cousin had a girl named Evelyn. Then I fell in love with the name Marlowe but just a few months ago another cousin named her daughter Harlowe. I just can't win. 😂
You could try to go for names outside of your culture, this way the chance of your relatives choosing it for their kids gets smaller xd

That must be a regional thing because I know 3 Ambers....happy to report none of them are strippers!🤣

Amanda is a great name. It isn't weird, it's not very common, it's beautiful and has a beautiful meaning.
A R Thanks. I do love it and she likes it too so that’s a plus.
my name is Amalia, which is quite similar to Annalia
Bristol and bath are nice if you wanted to move out of London
We’re expecting a baby boy in December. Seriously considering Jude Lowen for middle names for this baby. Lowen is a Cornish name that means happy. I grew up going to Cornwall for holidays and love taking the kids there now when we visit the UK. Still working on a first name for this baby...

Where did you get the name Melyn from? I've never heard it before.

We love names with meaning and al these names mean exactly how we felt would fit the upcoming baby. They wear their name with pride and it suits them so wel!
There is a classic book called evelina so it has literary connections
I would love to call my child Juniper, and nickname them Juni which means June in Norwegian
We have a Juniper! It is a wonderful name and very phonetic. She often gets called “Jennifer “ when first meeting people because people aren’t used to hearing the name Juniper.
It's lovely! And 'Jun' is nice nickname too, although it's a drink 😁.
I almost named my daughter Juniper, but my last name is Pinkerton and I wondered if it would be “too much.” Her name is Willa, which I love but I still have a soft spot for the name Juniper!
I have a Juniper that goes by Juni!
Ive always loved Juniper, but then we adopted a dog called Junie. So that sort of took it off the table
Hi SJ could you please do a video based on names that can be spelt differently and have different meanings due to that, e.g; like Hallie. Xxx
Ayy can't wait to watch this, after I've done my homework, of course!😂😉 Thank you SJ💗
My names list for girls are Marina, Celeste, Lucia, Celine, Florence, Josephine and Jasmine. I will definitely name my future daughter one of these. I love how they are known but not overly. They also have beautiful meanings too.
My babies are 30 and 24.the eldest is laura
and the younger one is called Roisin a Gaelic name pronounced Ro - sheen little rose in English.if it was now I would choose Meredith and Shelby.
I don't blame her.
@@leaknox7299 that story gives me some hope! 💕 Thank you!
Evangeline is such a beautiful name!
I knew some people wouldn't like my sons name but I went with it anyway and no regrets. It suits him so well.
I love my flower name 🌸 ❤️
So, My husband and I both have J names, for some reason we decided to give our children all J names too 🤦🏼♀️ also my daughter is Joslynn and I wish I had spelled it correctly as Jocelyn but my husband said the correct spelling “wasn’t feminine enough”.
