I found out you cann do this in reverse: click on the merchants name and do as you would normaly do this glitch and now you can duplicate arrows and ores etc.

i think it's patched on special edition 😔😔. Every time you click it sells straight away, you can't drag your name to the merchants name and the game will just sell the item immediately. If i'm wrong please let me know

To anyone curious about the merchant inventory thing I think I know how to trigger it now. It took me some hours to understand So you basically go to your character's name (make sure you don't let the line pass the middle of your screen) and try to select the item you want to sell. Then, hold left click on your name (yes, the item you select might also change like mine, just try to adjust it lower/higher till you get the desired item) and position your mouse to the vendor's name, release and press e AT THE SAME TIME and it might just work. I tried it with Ulfberth in Whiterun today. I hope this helped y'all.
I don't have the choice of confirmation, when I click over my name I will be selling my first item on my list. I was selling things that I don't want to sell and when I press E over the name of the seller most of the times I will be buying their stuff.
are you holding the click on your name and dragging it up to the merchants name before you sell? you HAVE to click and HOLD while you drag ur mouse from ur name to the merchants.
After studying this video I could not do it but then I rewatch to try it and I was like yes it worked! Instant speech like Spiff mashing E but not mashing it so I need a new key oard😂.

works like a charm just got to 100 with it on special edition, but it keeps giving me a confirmation box each time when hes out of money i see you dont run into that I dont see any option to disable it in the game any hints? sucks having to confirm each time
Doesn't work as of 1/13/2023 on Skyrim Anniversary Edition. Clicking on my name brings up all the items in my inventory, so I can't click on it and drag it over the merchant's name.
I don't have anniversary edition, but that sounds to me like how the glitch is supposed to work. Your inventory will be open first before you are able to click and drag onto the merchants. You will have to sell an item because of this but once you have your click-drag from your name onto the merchants name and you click the sell button, you will activate the glitch. That's why you should scroll to an unimportant item in your inventory before doing the glitch because you will end up selling it to do the glitch.
The glitch worked for me a couple times but now when I have the menu setup ready and try to sell my item, the item just sells and I do not enter the inventory.
Short tutorial and takes a minute of bs to get to the point. Click and hold on your name drag to traders name, sell an item while still holding click, now you’re selling while in traders inventory.
The first minute is pertinent information for the glitch. The first bit is saying to sell something cheap, because you dont want to sell your best item on accident. The second bit is much more important because it will stop the glitch from working. You're more than free to suck a dick and watch a 10+ minute "tutorial" where the actual instructions for the glitch happen 8 minutes in, if you'd like.
I'm not sure what would cause that. You have to make sure you sell the item that you are using to start the glitch, sometimes it will say "this merchant does not have any gold, do you still want to sell?" And you still have to hold down the click when you accept that notification. You only let go of the click when its on his items after you sell.
It crashes? That's extremely weird. I haven't heard of any problems like this. If you're playing on steam, have you tried verifying game files? Idk how that process would interact with mods but it might fix it. I don't play with mods or anything, and this is on Special Edition of Skyrim. Or maybe it's just mods not liking the glitch assuming you are playing with mods. Those are all of my guesses. I've never faced this problem before.
