  • If you have managed to find the Hasbro Star Wars vintage collection figures then you will probably want to remove the huge sticker they stuck on the front of the cards. This video shows you how to do that.
    And if you got the European version you may also want to remove the massive white leaflet they stick behind each figure. So I show that as well.

      @@shadowgb Yep. Look at the bottom of the blister where there's a small opening between the card and blister -- start by squirting some lighter fluid between the two, and gently work your way up (squirting the fluid and carefully splitting the blister from the card). On the Last Jedi and SOLO cards, squirt the fluid along the left side where the blister meets the card, and start from there.

    I use UN-DU adhesive remover for stickers. Even on 50 + year old lithograph. It safely neutralizes the sticker adhesive long enough for removal, and the sticker can be re used after if desired.

    Just wanted to leave a comment that this video inspired me to go out and buy these newer carded Star Wars figures. The lighter fluid works like a charm and I have these carded figures displayed in my home office, and I'm wanting to get more toys from my childhood. As a result, it has inspired my college-aged sons to go out and buy similar collectibles figures to display. It's now something I share with them, comparing my original and retro figures with their newer releases. Sorry to see you're getting some awful criticism online about what you do. Just wanted to let you know my kids and I appreciate your work! Keep the videos coming!

    If you soak the card around the blister with acetone, the blister will just pop off the card. You can then remove the warning sheet and then glue the card back on using some glue stick.

    The lighter fluid has Naphtha which dissolves glue quite nicely. Rubber Cement thinner (Bestine) does the job very well as well.
    Vapors can be harmful. A very thin knife blade will lift the blister and then a thin coat of stranded white glue puts it and any paper back in place and is not noticeable.

  • @NitrousDiecast
    @NitrousDiecast 5 років тому

    I think the lighter fluid will lift up the glue on the figures shell too, so you don’t have to cut it. People use lighter fluid on hot wheels packages to take the car out

    Use the lighter fluid to release the bubble on one side and then take a clear drying glue for archival paper and seal it back up. I've done this with Hot Wheels cars that have popped open and they seal perfectly. Will it needs to be archival so that it never yellows.

    The information leaflet, which I could probably guarantee nobody has ever read. I never have, and I save them as kindling to light barbecues with. I've opened my figures, but hated the huge sticker, the faux damage on the card, and the flimsiness of those cards. I still have my original 'Palitoy' cards, and compared to the new ones, they're really butch and stubborn. Oh, and the 'big head' Han Solo. There's a nice Bespin Han Solo head waiting for him.
    You can use acetone on a cotton bud, to loosen the glue on the blister. It always used to work, unless the glue formulation has been changed.

    Would some acetone on the back of the card allow you to lift one edge of the blister? I know glossy cards can be trickier when it comes to acetone. Also, that leaflet is just one more reason why the UK needs to leave the EU.

    • @TypicalTonk
      @TypicalTonk 5 років тому

      Gumba 213 I’ve used acetone on cards before to remove blisters. No ink damage. You can also run a line of acetone on the front of the card along the edge of the blister side you want to lift. If careful, and you angle the card so the acetone runs away from the inside of the blister it can be done. Patience is needed.

    I saw a video on a different channel about how easy it is to fake "factory error" Hot Wheels cars as "mint on card" by soaking acetone through the back of the card to the blister to loosen the glue without damaging anything, modifying the car, and then gluing it all back together. I don't know if it works on all prints but the video I saw did it to a few dozen cars of various ages to show how easy it is (and to not trust people selling "factory error" cars because it is way too easy to fake them).
