Well if i can defend Rustage a little id argue that this being a faster track only slowing down at times is a relefction of the story itself since for Fireren all these events are just blink in her life yet we have her reflecting on this short time span so its kinda fitting to go for fast tempo with occasional slow moments like the story itself. In this anime tiself allot of people can find some things they will connect with since it is a very melancholic anime about the passage of time and losing loved ones.
Yeah to expand on that. Freieren, lives so incredibly long that the finds herself having meaningful, impactful, and loving moments with people, but from her perspective, its over so quickly. All of those moment breeze past her because she lives so long.
