I’m not a hunter… but I love this. I’ll always be a fan of what you do Steve.
Maybe it’s just me, but Steve and Ryan seem to have this ultimate brotherhood kinda bond. I’m not a hunter, so maybe it’s a common theme amongst hunters. Seems hunters have this high level of respect for each other. It’s definitely a different kind of friendship.
Gay.
Justin Lee is a national treasure. Dude is legit.
Justin is the man!!!
superb spearo as well:)
Always a good day when you are watching meat eater with these guys
I don't know if you know what they mean by meat eater.
So cool to see a recurve in the field bringing home the meat 🍖 😄
With no sight at that!
Oh wow, thanks for bringing that to my attention. Callaghan is packing a recurve. I didn't realise he was going to shoot mutton😅 with it. It's an unreasonable call. Anything that's not lamb is pretty much considered mutton, which is mature sheep meat. Any meat you'll buy from a sheep is labelled lamb these days, because nobody buys mutton, and it has a reputation of coming from old sheep. It's kind of untrue and unfair. But the label has stuck.
I'm in Australia, where lamb is fairly often consumed. Less so nowadays, given the current expense, but people really like it. Grilled lamb chops or oven cooked lamb roast were frequent delights when I was a growing up.
I’m not a hunter but meateater is the show I didn’t know I needed. Steve’s narrating is up there with Morgan Freeman 😂
His book which he narrates on the American bison is next level 👌
These guys are blessed to do what they are doing for a living. How fun! Love to hangout with them.
Ugh, it always gets me when they are eating. I'm sitting here at my desk at work, eating my packed peanut butter and jelly sandwich, watching these dudes eating fresh pulled pork and lamb on some Hawaiian bread with pineapple. Man I am more hungry now. These guys are professional hunters and professional cooks. Their wives got lucky ha.
Steve has a voice commanding that hooks you into listening intently, because you are about to witness something!
Always happy to see a new video on my lunch break
Not going to lie, that was one of the toughest videos I've watched--due to the fact that it's 2350, everyone else is asleep, and I don't want to wake them to go get food. So jealous!
Love the host, thank you for thinking of the land 60 years from now and not just for yourself for tomorrow.
Mouths watering, love the harvest and spread!! Truly why we were created great meal with friends and family!!
Two things I’m gonna miss about Hawaii is Kona coffee and my freezer full of Axis meat! Love the year round hunting here
So glad these episodes are longer now
In my opinion as a Michigan native, Steve is the Favorite son of Michigan hands down.
Amen!! I have watched a lot of meat eaters shows, this one without a doubt is in my top5!! Awesome hunt!! The pork head looked so good!!
The diversity you see in Hawaii in regard to the feral species is the same here in Australia. Any domestic animal you can imagine is now wild and thriving here, destroying our native flora and fauna. You should come film a short series here I reckon. Down south you can hunt the elusive sambar deer, Hog Deer on Snake Island, the big reds and fallow as you move up the coast, scrub bulls and banteng, Sika and Rusa up the tip of Queensland and camels in the red centre. The pigs, goats, sheep and rabbits, not to mention foxes, wild cats and wild dogs are found absolutely everywhere. Potentially if you're lucky, you may get to help take out a problem moster salty croc. The Aussie hunting community would absolutely love to host you. Hope this comment somehow makes it to you, Steve. Cheers fellas. M
I forgot to mention... all those animals I listed were introduced by humans! Either escapees from agriculture, released to the wild for people to hunt, or released just for the 'fun' of it. There's not a single hooved species native to Australia. On that note, we also have a massive number of feral horses, or 'brumbies' as we call them. They cause severe environmental issues, but people still fight for their 'safety'. Theres been a few larger scale culls the last few years. For any hunter, its open season on literally everything but ducks (and you gotta draw a ballot for Hog Deer down south)
Huge fan of when Cal comes along 👏
Cleaning a beautiful Montana Dusky Grouse while I watch this, and I'm just thinking about what a cool hunt you guys shared with us all. It's got me thinking about going to Hawaii for the first time. Is it noticeably different hunting in areas with no bears to look out for? A little more peaceful? Thank you all for what you do 🙌
Mouth was actually watering looking at all that food, that looked so good!!
Thank you MeatEater for releasing all these episodes!!
You guys always make me laugh 😎👍. What an awesome spread. Make me want to go to Hawaii
🍻😎👍
Man would I love to hang out with these guys.
i have them on in one form or the other ( podcast etc) all day every day almost. The chillest bunch of folks. i started using the word "folks" cuz of them lol im 30 years old
Lol its all cgi dude. These guys arent real.
@@Sundog0811 supposedly our whole reality is a simulation so fuck it
Agreed but when I see them sit through 6 days of freezing rain I'm not so sure.
@@carlsonmtt898 I'd be completely down for that as well tbh
What an episode, guys, thanks for this! Every time I want to eat and watch something, I come straight to MeatEater. Best regards from Brazil!
As soon as I seen Hawaii I knew surely Justin Lee would be there, and there he is the legend! I hope you guys got to go for a dive with the man!
Not a hunter. And my wife is vegan. We have been following MeatEater and Steve for years now. Why? Because he's responsible. He's not shooting deer of his pickup truck like so many people around me are doing.
They err on the side of preventing suffering, often waiting for the best shot, not just "any shot." I wish all hunters were like Steve & Friends.
These men make hunting look so simple, but from experience I can tell you it is not as easy as it looks.
I love that Danny hunts in Vans.
Very enjoyable watch as usual, it’s nice to have Meateater back on the menu! 👌
The polynesian brought their pigs about 1000 years ago but interestingly the early written accounts from naturalists (1779 onwards) in hawaii described forests without any 4 legged animals. About 40 years later in 1820 is the first mention of there being wild pigs and even then they are mentioned as being limited in localities. By the mid 1800s, most the main islands had expanding populations of feral pigs. New genetic evidence is coming out on the breed admixture present.
Should send Steve and Cal (or Janis) up to Lake Michigan now that spearfishing is allowed. Would love to see it.
When I lived in Maui this is pretty much what we would eat and brought a bunch to church.
Cal's a damn assassin with that trad bow.
Bucket List- Pig Hunt Hawaii! Great Show, fellow Michigander!
This island and Oahu and Molos we can go on aaaaall kine adventures every time you load up the truck and head down the road on an adventure it’ll be a once in a lifetime experience.. every friken time pretty much 🤙🏽
"Baaaaaaaaaaaaaa...." "Buuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrr..." Enjoy watching Steven and Ryan.
The one and only JUSTIN LEE! I love watching him on Ryan Meyers Expeditions channel. Dude is an absolute LEGEND!
Some meat eater videos strum your soul chord. This one checks that box.
HEY BABE!! NEW MEATEATER EPISODE JUST DROPPED
I'm so freaking hungry now!
Nice job, guys.
Those piece of fried banana peaked my interest. I must try.
Nice Lamb Steve. I'm not fond of mutton, but to each his own. Easy packing out for supper.
Stoked to see a whitetail made the intro!
I wish I had my dogs when I was 16 those 3 dogs would help Hawaii a lot
Nice to see rinella back
That feast looks so good, fresh meat and fruits, i'm jealous!
That's just great! Exactly what I needed to see after 6 hrs bow hunting watching the same SQUIRREL
Great watch!. I'd imagine that pork tasted amazing since the pig's feed on macadamia nuts
What a beautiful stalk and hunt. I got really hungry at the end of the video. What a wonderful meal. Love what you do. Keep on going. Regards
Great shooting with that recurve. More trad hunting stuff, please. That lamb looked fantastic & yummy.
I can’t believe Steve didn’t say that’s one of the better things I’ve eaten or tried in awhile. I was waiting for it. Now I don’t know if he says that when it truly is good eating or just a go to phrase for eatable and a nice gesture to say either for camera or respectful
And you just came here and didn’t call me ……..😂😂😂 great episode as always you need to do a bonefish on the flats episode next
That was some awesome hunting and small some looking meals
Loved the episode. Would be nice of yall to shine on some of the issues on hunting in Hawaii. Little to no game management on public lands. The hunting looks incredible on some very exclusive private properties. But for those without that luxury, its almost like the wild west with not much hunting opportunities left in the very near future.
Mahalo Danny, for showing real Aloha! I live in Puna so I understand what kine people you meant. Beautiful spot to gather with friends n food. Aloha.
Surprise huh?
Cal up on the Trad Bow; Nice!
Keep coming back to the Big Island of Hawai’i!! Always great to see mainlanders experience the unique mix of animals we have to hunt here
Amazing content as always! My fave show out there.
so good to see cuban tostones done properly
Good afternoon from Syracuse NY brother and everyone else thank you for sharing your adventures
These boys living the dream
Great Video!!!, Love the ending... We also eat tostones in the Dominican Republic.
ready@ClickOnProfile0852
Great episode.
God bless you guys.
Great show
around 22:45, steve brings up a local perspective on eradication. very cool and respectable that local voices are being share by a man of steves fame.
Owning a self sustainable vegetable/fruit farm and learning how to hunt is my dream
Born raised Kona hunt dive all my life - best place for all around gathering
Best episode 😂😂
Need to put some garlic mojo on those tostones for a complete experience!!!
Cordero a la cruz con chimichurri!! ohh yeahh
If I'm seeing Justin I'm sure we're getting a spearfishing video with Ryan Myers 😮
Justin Lee!!! Three prong goat
Man Steve you are the man! I’m a native Hawaiian and to here you throw In that line “white people should look in the mirror” in regards to invasive species 😂 shows you have respect for where you go and can joke about it but take the topic seriously 🤙🏽
Nice hunt and the food segment 🤤🤤
Keep em coming Babs
Wow Steve is back!!! i'm going to subscribe again.
Cal is a badass.
The legend Justin Lee🔥🔥🔥
Justin Lee is the man.. 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾
They’re already BBQ’d for you on Maui
That was awesome
Hilarious piece about the non native species. Great episode. Thanks guys!
That is a feast for kings
Looks like a great candidate for predicting movements and doing some still hunting.
You censored the lamb squeal on arrow entry didnt you!
sometimes i get to the end and i'm pissed off that i can't eat they wonderful food
Cal, wazzup with your first shots on both animals? Luckily it worked out for you both times.
Sheep: Bro someone is calling us but he has an accent😅
Aloha and welcome my man 🤙🏽
Good eating right there
Cal " you Miss all the shots you don't take and the ones you do"
i did a knife hunt for hogs out of Kona in the early 90's. funnest hunt i ever did.
Justin Lee coming over from Ryan myers love that guy
I didn't know you had a UA-cam channel!!! Shouldn't known through 😆 I just subscribed.
Keep on hunting and eating!
Man you guys eat very well.
cal with the recurve ftw
Really dumb question. At some point does a non-native species become “native”? Steve said the hogs have been there for 1000 years. After a certain amount of time I feel like the status would change
Heck yeah dude!!!
i onow justim from ryan myers, cool to see yall getting together !!
