    Enjoyed the review as always! During the "drive portion"of the review, it'd be more valuable for a wide shot of the backseats/back window rather than the outside-driver side door shot on the bottom left of the screen. That way we can see more of the passenger experience.

    Hi Alex, your reviews are 10/10. The most detailed and best shot with so good 4k clarity that I cannot overlook them
    But the cars you review, while probably very relevant for North America are quite dull for Europe.

    Thank you for another excellent review. A lot of reviewers out there write off the Kia Cadenza due to the name plate and low overall sales. It is nice to see a honest review of all the comparable cars in the class. Your initial review of the newest Avalon and the Cadenza along with the recommendation of the crew from Consumer reports were the reason I took the chance on my Cadenza and I love that car. I am not swayed by a name plate alone and grew bored with Honda / Acura products and quickly tired of the maintenance costs with my previous VW.Thanks again.

    Good review Alex. I enjoy my 2013 Avalon Touring but decided to add a 2014 Lexus LS460 L to the stable. DD for the Avalon, special trips for the LS? Doesn’t make sense to keep both I guess...especially since I work overseas. Thank you for your reviews on the LS models, it really helped. Taurus, ugh. Interior center console is my main beef. Just too wide on the Taurus.

    I actually test drove a Lexus Es300 Hybrid today and I didn't love it. The wood trim was nice but audio was not a crisp/clean as I would like it. I feel the joystick controller was a bit clunky to move around but the navigation voice was quick compared to the 2015 Honda Oydessey Elite technology I'm in now.

    Hello Alex, This video was well done. I am comparing the standard feature of the Avalon (limited 2015) and the Acura RLX SH AWD Hybrid (2015/2016). I like the power aspect of the Acura and audio feature. I will try to test drive an Avalon here in Ga in a next few weeks but I can't find a channel that speaks to the Entire JBL setup. But you made a good point with the high 30 to 40 mpg the Hybrid Avalon will always deliver. Do you have a spot for the Acura RLX hybrid?

    It is a step in the right direction if they worked on the ride quality. I test-drove the 2015 model hybrid Ltd last summer, and the ride was the main negative point. I remember the 2003 Camry rode nicer. Second to that was the head unit, which couldn't show the music folders on my MP3 player (only the list of songs in its entirety) , and and it eventually crashed on me (!). It only revived after I restarted the car. Great powertrain though.

  • @JBM425
    @JBM425 8 років тому

    A minor complaint about this particular review: it seemed to be too much of an apples-to-oranges comparison. If the review had featured the V6 model Avalon, I could understand the comparison to non-hybrid cars, but since this particular review was of the Avalon Hybrid,, I was more interested in comparison to other hybrids. The counter-argument would be that it's fair to compare to gasoline engine models to show differences in acceleration and trunk room. I still appreciated this review, especially references to the Camry Hybrid. Since I'm considering selling my 2007 Camry this fall (I would love to move up to a hybrid since I do a lot of city and suburban driving where the MPG really shines), as much as I would love an Avalon Hybrid, it may be out of my price range, so I'm looking at the Camry Hybrid, the RAV4 Hybrid, and now I've thrown the Ford Fusion Hybrid into the mix thanks to your review and a couple of others.

      Update: I wound up buying a 2014 Avalon Hybrid Limited with the Technology package. It is totally nicer than the top-trim Camry and is actually pretty fun to drive in the mountains. My real world mileage is around 30-31 MPG, but I routinely get 42 MPG or better in highway driving!

      I looked at the Malibu Hybrid also. For the money, it looks like a good choice. Has a really nice exterior, interior not so much (IMO). But, comparing it to the Avalon Hybrid seems unfair. It doesn't feel or look like it's made to compete with the Avalon Hybrid. After test driving it, I don't want to say it had a "cheap" feel, but.... As a primary car for long distance commutes, it wouldn't be my choice. But, if your more interested in cost out the door it rates a first look.

    What about Avalon vs Maxima?

    • @johnw9177
      @johnw9177 8 років тому +5

      The Avalon vs Maxima doesn't seem like a fair comparison. My wife has a 2016 Maxima SR and she loves it for the reasons I don't (though I really like it). She wanted a larger car than a midsize, but didn't want it to "feel" large (I think she means behind the wheel and spacious interior). I've seen reviews that downgrade the Maxima for the lack of interior space, but that's what she likes about it. She's 5'3, and I'm 6'3; while I have enough legroom in the Maxima, the cockpit style interior of the Maxima feels a bit cramped for me on longer trips. I can drive it, and LIKE driving it, but for every day long commutes..., not for me. She's fine with the 26 overall mpg she's getting, but for me that's much lower than what I want/need in my vehicle. That's why I'm looking hard at the 2016 Avalon Hybrid before the year ends. The Camry just feels too small and "kid like" for me (nothing against those who have and love the Camry). The Fusion Hybrid feels too small, and the steering wheel is too close even with the seat pushed back. The Lincoln MKZ has that same cramped feel, which isn't surprising since I think it sits on the same platform as the Fusion. The Honda Accord Hybrid comes close, but overall I just like the full size feel and space of the Avalon Hybrid. There really aren't any other options in that size car that I've found, and please don't say VW Passat - I'm DONE with VW.

    I don't like the new design of the avalon. The previous gen was awesome. Would go for the es350 Vs this one.

      Thanks to stupid state laws about front license plates. I would say get a tow hook plate frame but it wouldn't look good on an avalon

    Long time ago Avalon had a clear differentiation from Camry. It was a grown up full size sedan with a clear mission. Today Toyota can't figure out where it wants to place Avalon, and it ends up as meh.

      Disagree. There was some focus lost to when this generation came out with the significantly stiffer "sporty" suspension but seems Toyota is going back to the pillow type suspension that American cars used to offer. That's the right direction as many people are tired of 4 door car "pretenders" trying to be sporty when in fact they aren't, and just make the ride uncomfortable in urban pot-hole filled jungles.

    You might want to consider over all reliability. Kia products fall well behind the Toyota, The Kia is flashy but cheaply made.

    The grill and the instrument cluster behind the wheel are ghastly unfortunately. I looked at it before getting my Genesis. Great review as always though
