Poor Samandriel, he didn't deserve that! His angelic system was painfully hacked, he learned all angels are controlled, then he gets killed by a sibling he trusted
Nathan, if you're referring to the Godstiel arc, the people Cas most harmed were other angels. Meanwhile, he preformed mass miracles AND individual miracles (like giving that blind man his sight), disbanded hate groups (such as the kkk) and went after hypocritical/corrupt leaders The _second_ he harmed innocent people (when the leviathan took over & ate/killed that room of people) he IMMEDIATELY went to the Winchesters to try & get rid of them
You are flat out wrong about what Dean said in regards to trusting Benny. He didn't say he's never trusted anyone as much as Benny, he said if there's one thing he knows, it's that Benny has never let him down. You're misinterpreting that the same way Sam did, and that's why Sam was so unreasonable. That isn't Dean saying he trusts Benny more than Sam, that's him saying that Benny has never given him reason to doubt him, so he isn't gonna start doubting him without irrefutable evidence. He treated Sam the exact same way in the earlier seasons, before their relationship was repeatedly strained. Because Dean is the kind of man who will have your back until you prove to him that he shouldn't. To be clear, I'm not saying that bringing Amelia into it was the right move on Dean's part, I'm saying that Sam's misinterpretation and jealousy over what Dean said is what made him want to doubt Benny, not just the fact that he's a vampire. Dean made a bad call, and that's fully on him, because there were better ways to handle it, but Sam's bad call on Benny is what made Dean think he had to make his bad call. Dean wasn't being selfish, he was doing what he had to in order to protect someone he cared about from someone else he cared about. Meanwhile Sam being hurt by what he thought Dean meant made him act irrationally and distrust two people he shouldn't have, and place his trust in someone he REALLY shouldn't have. Everyone's a bad guy here, but none of them were being malevolent or selfish.
Everyone is so quick to criticize what Dean said despite Sam saying basically the same thing first. In episode 3 Sam told Dean that his time with Amelia made him feel away he never felt before, Dean translated that as Sam saying being with her was far better than being with Dean. And Sam basically interpreted Dean’s comment about Benny the same way.
I can’t believe I’m all caught up on these reactions! I’ve been binging them on and off whenever I’ve felt like it and now I have to wait for the next videos? 😭 ❤
Just wanted to say thank you to you guys! Been watching since season 1, and you guys have made the past two years with these reactions! Appreciate y’all
Samandriel is the same guy that played the kid in the BUGS episode. He IS Heaven's most adorable angel. I am not an Amelia fan. I never have been. Sam can do better. Lisa loved Dean for exactly who he was. Amelia doesn't know who Sam is. She would run. And I DON'T like Naomi!! Poor Cass was crying! He had to say a good-bye too. I like Benny!! Another great episode. There are many of us hard-core Supernatural fans out there that would LOVE to talk to you about this! I am one of them! Great reaction & discussion!
We don't know that Amelia would run because...well...they give us jack squat about who she is as a person. They made zero attempt to actually flesh out the character.
Cas is the giraffe, Sam is the moose, and Dean the squirrel. I think Crowley called Cas a giraffe in earlier seasons, but he's the one he nicknames the boys pretty much. 24:16 I dont like how hunters act as if they cant have a good life when you have the Charmed Ones fighting demons constantly and dying a few times themselves and yet they have kids, husbands, friends and even careers. It may be hard to have that life, but I think if Dean and Sam tried it they might be okay. Granted they are more special, vessels to archangels, characters in novel written by God, and constantly getting into trouble they cause.
I’m currently watching season 13 on my first rewatch as a former inconsistent fan of the series and man, it’s difficult seeing y’all only on season 8 when there is so much awesomeness to come in the final seasons and leading up to the storyline.
I always thought of Sam and Dean doing Gods work most of the time because both heaven and hell are messed up but, when you finish the show you will have a new different perspective on everything. For now, yes I do see it as Sam and Dean have to do the good work and protect people. Thats a big responsibility thats super stressful. I am usually always on both boys sides. Seeing the life they have, its kinda hard for me to pick sides when one is being mean or something lol
Hell Yes to the Amelia BS, but hard no to Benny, he was a decent, interesting character that had all kinds of story potential, and Sam's hatred of him was not earned. Also Dean keeping a friendship with him wasn't what made Dean unbearable it was his grudge against Sam. Speaking of which Sam brooding and pining of Amelia who he broke up with was worse and really dragged him down. But yes it is nice to finally get them back to normal
I personally find their codependency sad this season, these men are in their _30s_ and they're not allowed to make their own lives, make new friends, pursue love, they _Have_ to be alone, have to stay together Like Dean having a blast with Cas in 5x3, that's not allowed, he had to go back to Sam His friendship with Benny's not allowed _Both_ of those are things he _wants_ but is not allowed to have so long as he has to stay with Sam /=
Abusive Amelia but Benny was ill treated by Sam Dude never says a cross word about Sam. Sam tries to murder him for his own reasons. Benny helped and all he got from Sam "I guess he wasn't do bad after all."
So what was Sam's plan? Have a normal life with Amelia till Crowly came killed her? Cause that's what would've happened, Sam only got the year off because he wasn't on Crowly's radar but if the past encounters didn't put him back on it, the fact that Dean would be continuing to seal the gates of hell, Crowly would've obviously hinted Sam down to use against Dean. So yeah knowing this makes it clear their was no future with Amelia, so Sam not choosing feels less like him choosing Dean and more it was the only option. Whereas with Dean he had to severe ties with a good friend and possible great ally, giving something up for Sam. Yeah it's clear who gave up the most, and Benny was a far better character than Amelia ever was as was his relationship with Dean when compared to Sam & Amelia.
Sam wants it all to be done so both he and Dean can have normal lives and the only reason Sam was on Crowley radar was because dean made him go back to find Kevin.
@@ShieldVids Did you not watch the first episode? Sam chose to go look for Kevin, Dean wanted to go alone originally, mostly because he wanted space from Sam, he never forced him to tag along!
@@ShieldVids I've seen Sam guilty before and didn't look it during that episode, he seemed to agree to look for Kevin not out of guilt but because he had nothing else to do and was trying to distract himself after just breaking up with his girlfriend, and when he found Kevin he told him to just have a "normal life" like that was something he could do with the king of hell hunting him, it gave the impression of Sam being unfeeling and just not wanting to deal with Kevin, It was complete character assassination by the writers.
Im 100% with nathan. amelia was damn cheater. as a married woman she just slept with another man. and im pretty sure if she had found sam is a hunter, she should have been selfish and would want sam away from Dean.
This marks the beginning of one of my favorite sections of the series! You guys were really locked into both viewpoints and are the only reactors I've seen who understood why it was important that goodbyes were said to both Amelia and Benny in order to fully commit to each other. I love that you are back to being excited about the story, a lot of viewers gave up somewhere between seasons 6-8. This and the previous episode really forced a turning point for the brothers. They ultimately chose each other and the Supernatural fight and cut out any distractions, even though it hurt. They both chose both feet in and are finally committed to the battle with Crowley. So excited to carry on with you!
I agree and disagree, first I am looking forward to the other half of the season, second both brothers needed to focus on Crowley and get both feet in the game. Thing is yes cutting ties with Amelia makes sense with that but not Benny. Sam needed to let go of Amelia(who he already broke up with) and stop daydreaming for a normal life as it was getting in the way. With Dean his issues were letting go of his grudge against Sam and letting him make his own choices(something he already dealt with) but he didn't need to cut ties with Benny. Dean never said he wanted to go hunting with Benny, Benny never mentioned he wanted to hunt just stay in contact and that wouldn't have gotten in the way a fight against Crowley, it's basically what the Winchester's do with all their friends, keep in touch and come if they need help. I think I'll always be bitter over what happened to Benny, but that didn't make me hate the show or Sam, and once again I agree with you that's past time for the brothers to make up and get to the best part of the season.
I may be in the minority here, but I think Sam and Dean should've split in this episode. They needed a break from one another, and with Dean having Castiel and Benny and him finally accepting that Sam wants to have a normal life with Amelia, this would've been the perfect time to split them up. Instead, we got the usual, and I'm sorry, tired rinse and repeat of Sam being broody, Dean being pissed, then Dean being onboard with what Sam wants and Sam changing his mind and they end up choosing each other. A split would've been refreshing.
Hard same! There are _so many_ places within the 15 seasons that I think the brothers should have had seperate storylines/gone their seperate ways (for more than a single episode!) This here is one of those times. Dean has 2 friends he'd rather hang out with & Sam has a love he'd already built a home with They should have split in the mid-season finale & gotten pulled into the same plot (on their own, not by each other) near the end of the season
I actually agree, a not permeant separation would've been good/healthy for them. The one flaw in it is while I have no doubt the Dean with Benny and/or Castiel would have good results, Sam & Amelia would not. Now putting aside my own personal opinions on the relationship and Crowley still being out there, there is one fact that shows these two wouldn't work and it's people overlook. Sam broke up with Amelia first before Dean or anything supernatural happened, he did so because he realized he would never be as open with her or love as much as her husband. If they got back together it would only end badly for them. Now if Sam did take some time off to have a normal life or do some soul searching that's fine. and like I said it might be healthy for the brothers to take some time for themselves.
@@audreyii6750 Agreed. I think that's the major negative of Supernatural.
