Just wanted to tell Adrian how much we appreciate him turning slowly while filming. It causes us to become a little nauseous when the video is spinning quite fast. Carole, you have the patience of a saint. All the detail work is beautiful! I think you need a new title: The Wallpaper Whisperer!😅 Hugs, Doc
I actually held my breath as Carole removed the wallpaper! Great job Adrian on the chandelier with Carole's brush! It looks so gorgeous! Carole you have such a great eye for treasures! That companion set is absolutely amazing, so ornate! Good job shining it up Adrian! Can't wait to see the trip to the wallpaper makers!!!! Have a great week! Great edit Beth!
good evening adrian and carole, i cannot fault your dedication at your salon restoration, you are so doing it right paying homage to the age of this lovely building…..well done 🎉🎉🎉
I like the original wallpaper best, too. There's something about the proportions of the pattern and subtle shading that fits a chateau so well. It's wretched dealing with a building that wants furnishings that are so specific to its form, yet the promise so sweet if you can get it just right. Such a tough spot to be in, what to do, what to do...
You both are so amazing with your talent for restoration. All you work on turns out fabulous! Thrilled the wall covering came down so nicely! I do hope the company you are going to see will reproduce it for you as it is perfect. Thanks for sharing!!
Hello Carole & Adrian - the chandelier looks great - can’t wait to see it in place. I love the clock too. I’m looking forward to seeing the wallpaper shop and fingers crossed 🤞 they can reproduce the salon paper for you. ❤️
Chandelier - stunning. Brocante finds - beautiful. Taking the original wallpaper to a firm that specializes in bespoke wallpaper - the very best idea. As always, just beautiful work!
Bravo Carole and Adrian….the wallpaper removal…the chandelier …almost finished…love the new findings…the fireplace pieces. Perfect and elegant..even your little clock. Ding dong..such fun…hoping the wallpaper can be reproduced…good feeling about this..🥂
Great teamwork Carole and Adrian, pleasure to follow you as always. I’m finding it tough to just keep my sitting room clean, let alone all you’re doing!😂
Lovely finds at the carpark sale, Carole and Adrian!! You just reminded me I have 3 antique clocks needing repair!! LOL! The fireplace accessories are beautiful, especially after Adrian worked his magic!! Hi to Beth!! Blessings until next time!!! 🇺🇲
You both have such a great eye for picking out details for the chateau! Everything you are both doing is spot on - and you seem to have fun doing it! The salon is coming along nicely, and am enjoying every step of the way !
Dear Carole and Adrian your candelabra is going to look so good when it is hung up and the glow from the light around the room will be amazing. Held my breath while the wall paper being removed. It really must have been beautiful when first installed. Love the fireplace tools and the other items. The clock is lovely. It’s going to be beautiful in a bedroom. Have a great Sunday and a week ahead. 💫☮️☀️❤️
Wow! The fire place set was amazing. I had to go back in the video just to compare the before and after and it was astounding how good it looked after cleaning. Great job Adrian!!!!
Wow! I’m always so impressed with what the two of you have accomplished. Your antique finds were wonderful. I really love the clock and it does look nice on the fireplace mantle. Keep up the great work.
Pretty town with that lake, I could see myself walking my dog around daily. Great find on the fireplace tools, what are the hooks on each side of the fireplace for? I just noticed the chandelier matches the molding in the salon, the little balls tie them together. It’s all in the details! Cheers Capt Kirk
I think the paper that you took down is not only beautiful but perfect for the salon. I hope you are able to get it reproduced. It truly is the perfect paper for that room.
Oh that wallpaper removal was definitely a breath holder! Glad you were able to get removed Carole! I really hope something can be done to get as close of a match as possible now that it is off the wall.💮 That little pink toothbrush is doing so much work! Adrian, you're doing a fantastic job with the chandelier. Just give it time and patience and don't get discouraged. Keep polishing the balls! 😆Your efforts will be well worth it! Perhaps one of the viewers or at another market might find that 4th piece for the fireplace tool set. Even if it won't get used often, it's still lovely to see it cleaned up.
Check out Anna on How to Renovate a Chateau (Without Killing Your Partner) she has made her own bespoke wallpaper numerous times using Lino cut blocks. It really gives a dimensional look and you choose the exact paint colors to use. I think that might be the solution for the salon!!!❤
Carole, you have the patience of a saint as you meticulously restore the salon. I hope you have luck at the wallpaper place. Adrian, you have become the master of cleaning off years of grime. I can’t wait to see the chandelier hanging in that stunning room. xx
Good luck with getting a proper reproduction of the wallpaper sorted! We drove through the village and past your place last time we over at our house in La Dorée at the end of August. It looks just as impressive as on the videos, if not more so in the flesh 😉
the snail's pace would make me insane. it's unnecessary but it's how Carole wants to work and Adrian supports it. but my god. Love you guys...seriously...esp as you've said not your forever home.
Adrian and Carole thank ypu for the update on the Salon.Your wonderful treasures are beautiful that you found.Glad the wallpaper came off in one sheet.Bye til next time.
Great finds! The fireplace set is beautiful. All gold when you cleaned it up, it's even more beautiful. The chandelier is going to be gorgeous. Wow, on the work you have done on it, to make it useable again. I hope next video we see what you found at the wall paper place.
Congratulations for the courage and the effort you guys are putting into this. It’s great too see that you’re preserving but also reviving the French national heritage. The result is amazing. Good job 👍 du beau boulot
Everyone needs a ding dong bell 😂. Great job on the wall paper removal, patience of a saint Carole. The fireplace set cleaned up so beautifully, as did the chandelier. Nice job you two.
Great idea to see if the wallpaper company can replicate the beautiful salon wallpaper, I like it too. I hope Bethany’s file is useful 🥰 Love watching the detail and the rooms come together. You certainly cleaned up at the car boot sale. Love the clock & companion set.
💕I always put washing up liquid on a plate the dip my toothbrush into it to clean awkward places leave on the first area do the next 1-2 areas then go back & scrub the first area with another brush dipped in water💕If I have a stubborn area i dip my brush in white sand I’ve also found a nail brush is good for easy to reach area’s💕White vinegar is also fantastic for cleaning bathroom’s & kitchens especially tiles💕I just put it in a spray bottle💕White vinegar is great to use on many things💕
Oh,Carole, I've said it before but that gold wallpaper against the white panels will look absolutely stunning. I'm obsessed as you may have guessed 🤣🤣🤣
Hi Carole, I am just catching up with coming home from Florida with Mom and then watching all the videos about The Queen. I didn't want you to think I disappeared...............if you noticed at all!! LOL Love from Wisconsin!!!
Good to see you back Kathy, we always notice when are regulars go quiet. Hope you had a great time in Florida. Very sad about the Queen, but now they are together.
I would definitely use the white bulbs. The tinted ones will always cause a glare unless they are covered with small lampshades. I've agonized over the same thing in my house and the white or frosted bulbs give the best light with the least amount of glare and eye strain. Otherwise, I am so pleased to see all the work that you and Carole have done. You have come a long way and I've followed you from the very beginning. Mark
I love the wallpaper at Villandry, it expresses the Art de vivre a la Francaise. Beautiful. You are putting a lot of effort to get it right, good for you!
Congratulations on getting the wallpaper off the wall 🤗 Love the clock & the companion set it came up loverly 🤗 Chandler nearly done brilliant 🤗 🍰☕🍰☕🍷🍾🍷🤗 Love Sue ❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
The chandelier looks magnificent. Fingers crossed that wallpaper company can reproduce your wallpaper. I really think that’s the way to go. Love all your finds. Thanks for sharing 😍😘
I love being taken to the brocante. theres so much I would like but not being in France or having a chateau I'll just make do going with you. thanks for sharing xx
At 2:33 When you said "smoke" it sounded to me like "smunk." Which would be an AWESOME word to describe exactly what you're trying to remove from the chandelier.
Carole and Adrian, you honor the chateau immensely with your meticulous attention to detail and eye toward restoration. Everything you touch turns to gold, literally or figuratively! You’re attuned to the period in which the chateau was built and are able to marry brocante finds which perfectly compliment the decor. That’s an art! While you’re at the wallpaper factory, perhaps ask not only if they can reproduce the original wallpaper, but can they do it in French silver vs gray, champagne, and gold. My gut says a metallic tone will work best with the gold leaf and the chandelier. Curiously, did you decide whether to keep the ceramic tubes on the chandelier white, or change them to champagne or gold leaf? If the wallpaper factory can provide a panel in all three colors, it may help you to decide what direction your gut tells you to you to go. Whatever you decide, it will be brilliant as usual!
Good job getting the paper off the panel Carole. You need to keep your eyes open for a poker that will match as near as possible the companion set. regards from the UK
Friends of ours had a second-hand shop and the man always used a bucket of hot soapy water and a toothbrush or broom (depending on the size) to remove dirt, grime, old paint, etc. before he tried any of the usual methods. It was quite surprising what came off and how much labour he saved himself.
Superb job on everything you touch ! What a great team !!! I can't blame you for Wanting to reproduce the wallpaper for the panels...... nothing else will do. Anna from 'How to Renovate a Chateau ' has created quite a bit of the chateaus wallcoverings... She may be a source of help for you! The Best to you both.....
Carole, in watching you remove the wallpaper I couldn't help but wonder if one of those clothes steamers wouldn't have been of some benefit in getting the paper to release.
I know of a 19th restoration designer who go/ a period wallpaper copied for a Victorian-era domestic home--then he and the homeowner and the wallpaper people patented the design and made it available for sale to others in the field. Might be a way of covering some expenses if it is reproducible...
There is a liquid called "Blue Wonder" you can use for deep cleaning of almost anything. Just a bit in hot water, or pure on a teethbrush😉 and it cleans really everything, no matter how dirty or creasy. Maybe you can buy it in France

Carole has wonderful taste so I know the salon will be beautiful. You two make a great team.

Having the original wallpaper reproduced is the right choice IMHO. Beautiful.
I think the fireplace set is perfect!!
I am so exicted about you taking the wallpaper off to replicate it - nothing you have show has come close to it (in my opinion). Yay!
I'm always so impressed with the work you do, and the skill you do it with. Beautiful all the way around!

Wow! The fire place set was amazing. I had to go back in the video just to compare the before and after and it was astounding how good it looked after cleaning. Great job Adrian!!!!

You two are the hardest workers I've ever seen! Well done.

The hooks are infact for standing the tools against or hanging them. And balls! We like balls don't we!!!! Cx

Thank you Laurent!
I think the paper that you took down is not only beautiful but perfect for the salon. I hope you are able to get it reproduced. It truly is the perfect paper for that room.

You can actually see the pattern of the wallpaper much clearer while over the top of it Carole, it’s rather quite pretty.
