    sorry for the weird question
    But i want to ask can money detectors that have UV lamp be used for TLC visualization?
    because the laboratory UV lamps are very expensive and i can't afford one

    Hello, may i ask if what solvent did you use?

  • @sebooz4949

    how did you decide A nd B is more polar than C? Is this because of you used hexane as mobile phase for running? Thanks in advance, Best

    what solvent did you used in the small jar?

    Does solvent used to dissolve the sample has to be same as mobile phase solvent ?

    What the function of filter paper that u put in tlc chamber? And if not put it in chamber what will happen?

    • @chemfunman
      @chemfunman  3 роки тому

      the vapor pressure won't be consistent. that means the Rf value may not be accurate.

    Hi, if i don't have the UV lamp & the iodine vapor, what is the alternative method for me to visualize the spots? can i use a fluorescent lamp and cover it with orange plastic sheeting to mimic the UV lamp? or else what is your advice? Thank you..

    • @chemfunman
      @chemfunman  7 років тому +1

      why not give it a try and find out? Best way to learn science :) it is unlikely to be hazardous. update me on your findings!

      @tanant6604 7 років тому +1

      Haha..by the way, do you have experience on determining the phytosterol of oil ?

    • @chemfunman
      @chemfunman  7 років тому

      aint too sure, suggest you try steam distillation. see my video on that :)

    • @tanant6604
      @tanant6604 7 років тому

      steam distillation is for the purpose of oil extraction. BTW, i will figure out myself. Thx for that.

    Why dispose the solvent in the non-chlorinated waste bottle? You might also use a system containing dichloromethane or chloroform!!!

    • @chemfunman
      @chemfunman  7 років тому

      Some chemicals are banned in SG. For non-Cl solvents, of course we dispose it that way.
