I actually bought new shifters (almost $100) then googled this. Fixed old shifters Shimano Deore lx Sl-m570's and couldn't cancel order on the others. Oh well guess I'll have a spare set.
My cable snapped, and I assume that round piece at 7:06 is still inside. Is there a easy way to install the same cable ? Or do I need to replace the whole Cable run 🤔

I have the older "numbers printed on top, but guess what I'm in" type derailleur shifters. You're showing one of those newer "trigger" type shifter. Not quite the same thing.
shimano ............ Imagine putting steel tabs round a bolt you have to bend back to service and the tabs break off laving a useless shifter sl m360 not cheap to replace. Next time i need to service a shifter i will just buy a cheapo replacement.

My other bike has the "twist"type, what left of them. That bike was treated rough, before I got it.

According to Giant dealers they were often prone to failure .

It's not always possible to have a replacement at hand, and it's not always the client who wants to change the shifter.
