(From Sega):
The Blue Blur is back with the definitive and expanded multi-game collection of classic Sonic the Hedgehog games - Sonic Origins Plus! Available digitally and in-stores June 23, 2023.
Pre-Order the premium physical edition today! origins.sonicthehedgehog.com
Sonic Origins Plus will be available as an all-in-one bundle that includes the Sonic Origins base game and the Plus Expansion Pack, featuring 12 Sonic Game Gear titles, playable Knuckles in Sonic CD, and for the first time ever: Amy Rose as a playable character in Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD!
This pack also includes previously released add-on content: Extreme Missions, Mirror Mode, new character animations, and additional backgrounds and music. The premium physical edition will also include a 20-page artbook and a reversible coversheet that pays homage to the classic 1990s era of Sonic. - Ігри
Small correction, Sonic 3 actually kept the Michael Jackson & Co music for virtually every console port and emulation until about a decade ago. The last game to use it was Sonic Classic Collection on DS.
Thanks for pointing that out! I know some prototype songs were used in the 1997 windows PC port, so I assumed they would have been used as the standard past that point. I didn't know the MJ songs were in the Ds version! Strange that Sega would go back and forth like that...
@@WesDoesGames a common theory I see is that it was around the early 2010s that "Michael Jackson composed for Sonic 3" started to become less rumour and more fact, with fans finding evidence and talking to people involved.
Sega probably tried to ignore it til then, but once it started to spread online, maybe some of the people involved started asking sega for royalty money, maybe even threatened to sue and sega decided not to use that music anymore as a result. That could be why sonic 3 saw no ports at all between classic collection and now, compared to 1 and 2 which both saw numerous rereleases in that time
That's also when MJ died. I assumed Sega just didn't want to go through his estate. Or maybe because of the growing controversy of MJ in general climaxing around then
@Wes Does Games
Yeah his death may have complicated things with Sega's relation to his estate too. all just theories of course. We may never know the full truth, but sega not using Sonic 3 for a decade after classic collection does suggest that *something* happened around then that spooked them
Definitely a topic that warrants a full video
For the record, Origins Plus, is also a $10 Upgrade DLC for those that bought Vanilla Origins so you won’t need to spend another $40 for it
I didn't know that, I appreciate the extra info!
Personally, I'm tad conflicted on this detail. On one hand, I find it kind of scummy to borderline scam day one buyers like this. Origins was $40 at launch, $45 if you got the deluxe version. So day one players are spending $50/$55 total, whereas new players spend $40 for all the deluxe plus the new "plus" content. On the other hand, I'll still buy it, I've spent $10 on worse.
It really should have been free because we are paying 10 extra bucks for the game for buying it early.
@@chloemarlowe3817How is that different from the fact that I bought Sonic Origins for 50% off a few months after launch?
Games get cheaper over time (or have more content added for the same price in some cases) in order to draw in more people to buy the game that otherwise wouldn’t have bought it. You will ALWAYS be getting worse value for your money buying a game day 1, you’re paying a premium to play it *now*.
@@chloemarlowe3817 its their fault for buying a game on release so they deserve it
This should be free DLC for people who bought the original release. Why punish the early supporters?
It would definitely be nice if they got a voucher or something
More so when you consider that Sega are giving Amy away for free Frontiers, along with Knuckles and Tails.
The Game Gear games Sega can sell if they so desire, but plastering Amy all over the cutscenes only to then withhold her as paid DLC seems pretty scummy.
I brought all the games on original hardware in the 90s, should I be crying about Sega not sending me a free copy??
10$ is really cheap
As someone who didn't play Origins OG, Im basically interested to see how Amy turns out and that's it.
Same lol. I only want it because Amy was announced, totally ignored the original version.
@@kairi4640me too . Amy was the only reason I bought it ha!
@@SataniaMcDowel ikr? 🤣
She plays like a pink version of Sonic.
In my opinion, the best Sonic collection ever released was Sonic Jam, it contains bug fixes from the original versions and the Normal difficulty mode eliminates some frustrating parts of the original versions due to bad level design. It contains some bonuses like spin dash in Sonic 1. Sonic Mega Collection is just emulation.
@paledonikh Sonic Jam was also less popular, fewer people had the opportunity to play it, which makes sense, Sega Saturn sales were also low.
Reminder the Sonic 1, 2 and CD remakes were on mobile first, you can now decompile them and play them on your PC with mods
Con: the physical edition only contains Origins with a code to download Plus, the entire thing is not on the disc, which means if someday the store closes, the Plus part will be lost.
I'm not a fan of that
It's not like you're required to download Plus. You'll still have the physical copy. I have a copy of Sonic Mania without the Plus add-on.
That sucks. Won't buy it.
That's always a dumb argument because even if the store shuts down you can always re-download a game you purchased by simply going to you download list. 3ds store is off but I can still re-download games I bought. Same for ps3
@@kevinmatta9262 Marvel vs. Capcom Origins was taken down before I could even try it in 2014. I only got to play the demo. I think two years ago I found the demo still available in archives years after I uninstalled it.
Just so you know, the bugs were mainly an issue on PC. The other ports weren’t nearly as bad
I dunno, my dude. Mine was buggy as hell on the switch and I couldn’t do Jack crap on all of the games.
No problems at all on the PlayStation.
My Switch port(s) ran fine.
@@aaron_aj_knight_95 Same and my Xbox version is fine too
Am i the only one demanding Sonic 3D Blast sega saturn version? Also the Sonic Gems Collection was great. Anyone remember the Namco Arcade with PacMan?
I prefer both versions of the 3D Blast game. But yeah I would love to play that Saturn version on the consoles, hell I love the music on there and graphic design. The gameplay? Eh.
My only gripe with sonic origns is that when they used the beta soundtrack for carnival night, ice cap and launch base, they should not have remade those. Not only do they sound horrible, they absolutely butchered the quality
I'm no music conniseur but I've heard alot of others agree with you on that
@WesDoesGames good to know I'm not alone in this. I would actually prefer those beta tracks now since I've grown fond of them
there was another game plagued by the late Michael Jackson. remember plants vs zombies, the original version had a completely different design for the disco zombie and his backup dancers, not long until the threat of lawsuits came about and they ended up changing the design for the disco zombie and his backup dancers, I’m reminded of it whenever I hear about the replacement music in sonic 3
There was no knuckles in cd because the game was already remaked without him
This is the first time I've ever heard of you, and my first time watching a video of yours. I must say, I am surprised at how small your channel is given the really, really good quality of the video! The editing, presentation, pace and information are great. Keep it up, and you'll be a big channel in no time!
Liked and subscribed.
Thanks friend, that's very kind for you to say!
I didn’t buy Origins bc I thought it was going to be released physically but now Plus will get a physical release I might consider paying for it
Make sure you buy it new, because otherwise you're just buying Origins despite what the box might say. The additional Plus content is not on the disc itself but instead a DLC code.
I skipped out on orgins initially, though it was mostly because I was betting on it coming to physical release just like sonic mania did. I'm happy to see that my speculations were accurate as I've already pre ordered orgins plus for physical disc.
Yeah buddy. What console are you getting it on?
@@WesDoesGames I'll be getting it for my Xbox One X. I have practically every other mainline sonic game on it already in fact. Adventure 1 and 2, mania plus, 4 eps. 1 & 2, unleashed, colors ultimate, generations, forces, and frontiers.
That sounds like a fantastic collection 😍
@@aaroncotterell4651 Ew Sonic 4
I pulled the same move. Figured it'd be a repeat of the Mania situation, and sure enough.
If MJ were still alive, I bet he would let Sega use his music for these collections. It was around 2010, a year after he passed away that it became harder to get those tracks in newer collections because of his estate.
Imperessive video far surpassing your sub count! Enjoyed watching - thanks 😊
A sad note that recently came out is the "physical sets" come with a download code. You are basically just buying the box. Its unfortunately still digital which kinda defeats the purpose of buying physical...
I think it's a cost saving measure for games without a particularly big budget. Hopefully it's a practice that doesn't become the norm
@@WesDoesGames i definitely understand why they do it but its just odd for sure. I could get behind it if the game is too big but its sonic...how big can it be 😅
Was gonna mention that they just stopped re-releasing Sonic 3 because of the music, but someone beat me to it
Here's free engagement
Thanks for engaging me 🤺
Keep making content my man. Your video is great, so much great content, and yours holds up. Eventually you'll crack the algorithm and go big time!
Thanks for believing!
I can’t help it, I’m a huge classic Amy fan so I had to get this!
Her finally being playable is such a big deal to me!!
But i feel lucky that I didn’t buy it originally
Amy's rad! I wonder if she's gonna control like she did in Sonic Advance, or how she'll play different from the others
@@WesDoesGames yeah it’ll be interesting! 😃
Great video btw! 🖤
@@WesDoesGames there is no physical copy and after the shitshow it's a downgrade in every sense of the word just look up knuckles in cd gameplay
In all honesty origin plus should have been what we got from the start.
@@klaushassen3954Yes you can buy this physically
2:15 I don't think it was just critics, it was... older fans mostly, those who already have these games, before they delisted them, even before then on collections like DS or Mega Collection Plus or Gems Collection, heck the mobile remakes (of which 1, 2, and CD are ports of) are still available free with ads, or for I think 3$ on the Google Play store. Cutting of CD's menu was especially a big problem, really downgrades that game, yeah the bugs, the drop dash that was messed up from Mania's rendition so you couldn't change direction mid air. The over pricing, these games sell for 5$ on consoles (including the mobile CD which was on other platforms such as X Box One, PS4, and Steam), or the 2-3$ on mobile platforms essentially making it worth what 12$ if reflecting on the mobile prices, or 20 on the console prices? The "DLC" which was essentially like a gacha, in that oh this content is in the game, but instead you can pay 5$ more to have it all unlocked instead of working for it.
There were MAAAANY flaws with Origins upon release, and while... sure newer fans are none the wiser, especially since 3&K hasn't gotten a rendition since the DS collection which I think released back in like 2010? That being said they were being taken advantage of, even if they were ok with it, that's wrong. Mega Collection Plus and Gems Collection also released early 2000s, and inflation hasn't gone up that much since then, for the same price of 40$ fans back then got 14 other games included in those bundles (I think less in Gems, but still way more than just "4" (again counting 3&K as 1 game that's what it's being sold as here in Origins).
Me who has Mega Collection Plus, Gems, DS, heck I technically have like 7 copies of Sonic 7 because of the Genesis collection on Steam, the mobile remake, and the version IN Sonic Generations, my least favorite of the classic games... and I have the most of it, I have 5 copies of CD and 2 across a bunch of platforms, as well as well just 2 of Sonic 3, and 3 of S&K... what value was there in me paying 40$ for this? When it provided nothing new, like at the very least 1 or 2 new characters would've been nice, we just had Mighty and Ray brought back from the dead in Mania... why not them Sega? Technically they're older than even Tails, Amy, or Metal Sonic, why couldn't they be in Origins? Why could Metal Sonic or Amy be playable in Origins? Why... is Knuckles not in CD especially when people have modded all these things to be in CD, including Mighty and Ray (even if it's still unfinished, but episode Metal&Knuckles basically is)?
Origins Plus thoughts
This being said... Origins Plus is better, I'd still say maaaaybe not 40$, closer like Amy being playable, her FOR THE 1ST TIME EVER NOT ONLY GETTING A SUPER FORM, *BUT HYPER AMY NOW EXISTS TOO!!!* That's a big deal, the 12 extra games?... (why they can't give me a Knuckles Chaotix, even in Gems and Mega collections I still do not know, the ONE classic game I do not have besides Mighty and Ray's Origins Sonic the Hedgehog arcade game, like... those 2 would've been nice if anything), they're not great games exactly, but it's something. I'd personally say it's more like 30-35$, thus why personally I'm waiting for a sale, but... ehh it's definitely better than what we got, drop dash fixed, bugs fixed (that being said apparently new ones popped up?), Amy, Super Amy, HYPER AMY, it's in the right direction, the only reason I'd consider physical is that artbook and reversible cover, that'd be neat and I guess worth the 40$. That being said... if CD's new menu from the mobile, Steam, and modern consoles isn't back that also would bring my rating down a bit. All the Origins Plus reviews I've seen AND NO ONE IS TELLING ME IF IT IS THERE OR NOT?! It's smoother, cleaner, nicer, the only thing it really lacked was a level select, a music room, easy to change music, select characters, time trial, it's a nice menu screen.
A word of warning, if you're buying a boxed copy of Sonic Origins Plus, you are not - I repeat NOT! - buying Origins Plus. What you are buying is Origins with a DLC code for the added Plus content. No code, no Amy. It seems a lot like false advertising, though such a thing wouldn't be a surprise from Origins, given the whole new playable characters they boasted about in the trailers only for there to be none. Also when you consider that the physical version of Mania Plus had everything on the disc, we are truly living in the Bad Future, regardless of what the official Sonic social media pages might tell you.
Nice video- I think that it'd at least be worth snagging the physical edition of it for my Switch, as I didn't buy the original game. Even if I have bought the Gems collection for the Gamecube in a uaed bargain bin waayyy upon a time, I practically never pull that one out of storage - sometimes convenience just wins.
I agree, as a dad with a 2 year old I've found myself loving the convenience of switch games. I think if it weren't for that I wouldn't have time for gaming at all 😭
Great video. Fun to watch. 👍👍 Was considering getting it. Some info I wasn't aware of here. Didn't know the Game Gear games were included. To be honest, still not sure whether I'll get it. 😄 The tipping point on most my little decisions usually ends up being less logical and more what I'm feeling.
Thanks friend! Glad you enjoyed it. Honestly I'm not in a huge rush to buy this, they are old games after all, but the polish and extra features pretty much convinced me to pick it up eventually. This is definitely one for the long term collection
@@WesDoesGames i will defiantly wait for a sale if i decide to pick this up as their are games in my backlog that are more worth my play time right now.
Well... technically 1, CD, and 2 aren't remakes right, they're ports of the mobile 1 and 2, as well as CD being on Steam prior to the delistings last year, the only one fully remade is 3&K, AND it's being sold as 1 game rather than 2.
great video!
Sonic 3 soundtrack was on a lot of collections
This was a very well made video. I actually was not even aware of them doing a plus version. It's like what happened with Sonic mania. Sonic mania plus actually I think was worth it because of the encore mode and playing as mighty the armadillo was pretty awesome thanks to the fact that when you jump or you're a ball you can actually bounce off of spikes instead of taking damage. Not to mention your shielded from projectiles when you're in ball form if I remember correctly. Although because plus came out a year later than the original Sonic mania, it's quite clear that the stage design wasn't made with Ray the flying squirrel in mind.
Anyways that's cool to know they're making Sonic origins plus. I didn't bother with Sonic origins. I think it's mostly just because I don't know I mean I used to love playing the classic Sonic games a lot but I just haven't gotten around to playing them again for a long time and didn't feel like buying another collection but I don't know maybe I might consider it with Sonic origins Plus but who knows we'll see.
I won't be picking up Plus, it doesn't fix my main problem with the original release.
Rather than fluid options for lives/coins, moves, screen resolution, time out and so on, they're all tied to the binary choice between Anniversary or Classic mode.
The 'Sega Ages' ports of Sonic 1 & 2 on Switch had much more flexible options.
I also still don't forgive them for removing other options for purchasing these games.
That's fair!
I held off on buying it for any consoles as I had a feeling a physical release would eventually happen. But I did play it just on PC.
Tysm for this information. Quick, direct and useful. Im gonna enjoy so much Sonic Origins Plus!!
I appreciate you watching!
I feel a bit burned since I bought the Origins Digital Deluxe. But ultimately I'm glad this is coming out more than anything.
Yeah me too. I do kinda want to try out Amy but I can't justify paying again. Didn't Mania Plus have an upgrade offer if you already had Mania?
Bought it blindly yesterday. I'm in love with every thing it has offered 🎉❤
Yes, I am a fan of Amy and for me 60 dollars is full price, in Mexico the physical version is 40 dollars so it’s cheaper but i understand being mad if you already bought it
About the unfinished digital release, if you remember, they did the same with Mania. The game was pretty much missing all zone transition cutscenes in the second half, until the update that was released alongside Mania Plus.
I remember hearing back when Origins came out that Headcanon wasn't involved in the game's development despite being the ones who made the Retro Engine versions of the first three games on mobile, and that all they did was make the new version of Sonic 3, not knowing it would end up as part of a collection. That's why almost all the bugs are only in 1, 2, and cd. Whitehead and the others did publically say that if allowed they would be glad to help debug the game, so I'm hoping the update that comes out alongside Plus fixes a lot of stuff. Things like 1 and 2 having roll lock on (on = can't control yourself in midair after jumping from a roll, it's off in cd, 3, and mania), drop dash having none of its unique sprites outside of 3, some funky instrument volume stuff (very noticeable in Flying Battery), and things like Sonic's alternate moves only being available from sound test codes instead of as a menu option were some smallish things that really bothered me and I hope get changed
I lost my Xbox with the og Origins on it so I appreciate that if I have to buy it again, it will be a better version
best thing is the decompilation ports, which allow for easy mod support, along with being less glitchy.
I've gotta try those
I thought we were getting the MJ music as optional DLC for Origins Plus
I didn't hear that?
well ha the jokes on you.
Is it true you have to download the new features? Cause I can't do that with my Nintendo Switch
I cant find anything to verify if that's the case. I'll report back when I get the game though
To be fair though, if you wanted the same experience between the Mega Collection and Gems Collection though, here's the thing. You need a PS2 or Nintendo Gamecube. And unless you still have one and in working condition, they are going to be hard to find if you don't have one still. Yes the Game Gear version of Sonic The Hedgehog particularly looks pretty small and restricted, but hey. At least they're giving it to us.
Yeah getting those old games now is definitely a chore
Are all the games going to be on the disc? or is it codes for downloads?
Yeah..... I feel like this was meant to be free launch content from the devs but higher ups are higher ups
I’m a huge Classic Amy fan, but, I dunno, I don’t think I should spend 10 bucks because all I’m gonna use the Plus DLC for is playing as Amy, I’m probably not gonna play the gamegear games, and since I already bought the base game DLCs, the Plus DLC seems overpriced, but again, I seriously wanna play as Amy, so, I dunno.
I love how they added all the Game Gear Sonic games and everything BUT Spinball.
I could give a crap about Sonic CD, but if your going to include that and the Game Gear titles, than they should have thrown in Sonic Spinball.
Also I don't know or care who Amy is, but she wasn't in the OG Sonic games so again, with all the crap they added, they could have at least thrown in Spinball.
5/10
I didn't want to buy the same ports again, but now that Amy is included and doesn't play like a discount and nerfed Ad1 Amy, I fell for it.
Sonic Origins is the first time they used the prototype OST, outside an obscure PC Collection, though remade by Jun Sunoue sounding worse than the actual prototype OST.
I actually like the prototype OST, and they butchered the tracks in Origins, though Ice Cap's music seems unchanged from the prototype.
Thanks for the vid bud
Thanks friend
Good thing i got the game card for Nintendo because inside the case it included a paper it was like the gift card for Nintendo and if you inserted that code you could get the plus DLC and it will cost nothing
it's not that the earlier/prototype Sonic 3 music was "inferior," it's that the versions we got in Origins were mostly based on the PC version (which itself was based on an early genesis/md version of the game with the pre-MJ music). The same songs sound fantastic in their original composition from the Sonic 3 prototype that was released a few years ago, and most fans would have been perfectly satisfied if THOSE versions had been included in Origins.
Also, Origins wound up with MANY functional gameplay and mechanics bugs. For something that was supposed to be the best presentation of the original series, it had more glitches and problems than the original commercial releases.
Funny thing is, all of the classic modes aren’t classic. Sure it’s in a 4:3 aspect ratio and has lives, but Whitehead already did that. S1 still has the spindash.
Probably not the "purest" of classic modes, however I think the logic is that the spindash should have been in 1. Then again, if you really want the classic experience, playing it on the Genesis is the way to go, lol
@@WesDoesGames I feel like they should have put a custom Genesis emulator and put a modified S1 rom that includes the spin dash. Then that brings the classic experience.
The spindash was part of Sonic 1 since the Sega Saturn and GBA releases. Whitehead was not the first to include the spindash in Sonic 1 so it's still count as a classic feature.
@@VOAN No, I meant that sure the classic modes have a 4:3 aspect ratio and lives, but Whitehead already ported the game with lives and I’m sure it’s not that complicated to change the ratio to 4:3.
@@VOAN Also that goes for the Saturn and GBA releases. This was supposed to portray the “classic experience,” the Genesis version a.k.a. the version that S1 was originally designed for.
I’m bummed that we didn’t get knuckles chaotic included.
Same with the segasonic arcade from 1993 in Japan when Mighty and Ray got introduced. Hell if they were to get knuckles chaotix on there, they need to include ray the flying squirrel in there and Honey the cat for kicks.
That's a rare one
I still have my copy from when I was a kid, I was a huge Sonic fan and remember how awesome it was to play as so many new characters, played it to death. I still love the soundtrack, but the game doesn't hold up like the others, dare I say it isn't much fun, and I can't see it appealing to a newer audience.
Are the new games the master system versions or the cropped game gear versions?
Good question! I can't find anything from Sega specifying
1:06 speaking about that, in OG origins, after having beaten an individual game with any in-game cheats, then starting again, it skips the intro as is you havent beaten the game yet, but then a bug is triggered that even after beating it noally afterwards, you still get the opening skipped when you start the game again, worst of all is that this bug, once triggered, it seems to be permanent (so now i can only watch it in the gallery)
That's weird, hopefully they'll fix it
@@WesDoesGamesok so i'm first gonna try beating a game normally, THEN starting 1 but so far it seems that this ain't fixed so i guess this is 1 of those bugs that once triggered lasts permanently
@@WesDoesGamesalso now with amy added usually i use 2 slots per character, 1 for ending with super & 1 for ending with hyper since you can't use super again after unlocking hyper but now there are no aditional slots so i'm short on space for that, sure there is level select & the super sonic code but still, i prefered having 2 save files for each like this
@@WesDoesGameslso they removed roll lock from Sonic 1 & 2 so drop dashing in those games is quite a bit better now
@@WesDoesGamesk so i finished & i've beaten sonic 1 as sonic again & then started again & it's still not fixed so idk about the trigger. It once triggered it's triggered permanently, so i guess this is 1 of those bugs that is impossible to truly fix somehow
It is only a minor bug that only happens in the individual games though so i'm still having a blast with this😁
if i'm not wrong, the previous best compilation was sonic jam on saturn, that seems to have been a remake too
I'm going to do what I did with Little Nightmares (Sort of). I own Little Nightmares on every single console I own. I already have the deluxe origins on my PS5, and I really love that genesis reversable cover. I'm thinking of getting it on switch.
The $2~$5 Sonic 3 they plucked out of the _SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis Classics_ collection just before Origins came out had the Michael Jackson songs
And then sonic superstars was announced...
It's a good time to be a sonic fan
1:34 wrong. I played Sonic 3 on Sonic Mega collection for the GameCube and it actually included the original Michael Jackson soundtrack from the game.
I liked the video. Here are things Sega should also include in this: Give us the Sega Master System versions of the Game Gear games! Give us Ray and Mighty! Give us Super Tails in Sonic 2! #supertails #segamastersystem #master system #giveusrayandmighty
Sonic Triple Trouble SMS, Sonic Drift 2 SMS, and Tec Toy's Sonic Blast SMS already exist for unofficial ports, but there's no Sonic Drift SMS, Sonic Labyrinth SMS, Tails' Skypatrol SMS, and Tails Adventures SMS.
While Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine did have a SMS port, Puyo Puyo didn't.
@@X2011racer Yes there is, all Game Gear exclusives have recieved patches to play on the Master System and they have been available for years now, I know this to be fact as I have all of them sitting on my EverDrive, even Sonic Drift 1.
What SEGA should have done to make this collection truly worth owning is they should have included a brand new Sonic game made and developed in the same way as Sonic Mania and all the 16-bit games on this collection. Something new that isn't available anywhere else like a spin-off. Adding Amy as a playable character and including the Game Gear games just doesn't cut it.
1:38 Every release? "Sonic Mega Collection+" (emulation), "Sonic Jam" (port) use Mega Drive OST.
I'd like to point out that the mobile versions exist. the same versions of sonic 1, 2 and CD are all on mobile, and CD is also on PC.
the mobile versions of the games are $2 each on mobile, and mobile versions are fully controller compatible.
the pros of the mobile versions:
- $2 each per game
- stage select upon completing the game
- controller and touch controllers (options)
- free with ads
the pros of origins plus:
- co-op play
- drop dash
- knuckles in sonic CD
- amy rose
- on PC, compatible with keyboard
- sonic 3 & knuckles remake
Thanks for the breakdown!
I already have them for PC but I also bought the switch version for conveniency. We've been having power outages left and right and the switch is the only one that i can have fun with until then.
Sonic triple trouble was the best game gear game of sonic
Already got it paid and preordered. Sonic is my boy
He is both our boy
I myself dont see the prize as too high. But i will only get Origins plus if they actually polished the games up. My playthrough of story mode on launch was just filled with jank and bugs. If they dont get rid of that i wont get Plus.
I'm inclined to believe they've spent the last year fixing the bugs. I mean, it couldn't have taken a year just to add Amy and game gear ports lol
I only ever got the Mega Collection and I’ve held back my wallet for the ideal “Sonic Collection” with SOME major improvement to the Sonic 3 & Knuckles soundtrack. Now that it’s happened, it’s one of the easiest purchasing decisions I can make. And I definitely don’t think everyone else has bought Sonic games as many times as Sonic fans tend to think. This is the one to tell the masses to get.
Also for PC players who care more about Sonic 3 & Knuckles we already have Sonic 3 A.I.R which i'm sure inspired this game (like Blue glasses Eggman)
The problem with this "remake" is that it doesn't look like a remake but a port of the old games already released on Steam and mobile, meaning I didn't find a need to buy another compilation. You can blame Sonic Mania for setting the expectation that high, and if Origins were really made with Mania's engine, you can further blame the devs for deciding not to go full HD Remaster on this package.
Amy being playable is a legit upgrade, however. So I might actually buy this one.
Getting the Master System Sonics on PS4 surely has to be the draw here.
3:30 That is not a fair argument, they didn't port Sonic 3 & Knuckles together for the full experience.
I also already bought the game on the eshop, but ever since it was announced, I wanted a physical version for the Nintendo Switch, so you bet that I'm going to buy the physical version too.
I'm sold on buying this, thanks!
The lack of the original Sonic 3 soundtrack is a dealbreaker for me.
Short awnser: no.
go play mods instead (like sonic1 forever, the decompilation of sonic cd, sonic 2 absolute and sonic 3 air, also they all run on mobile and are totally free)
i'm interested in seeing how it compares to Sonic 1 Forever, Sonic 2 Absolute, Sonic 3 Air and Sonic CD Restored
I didn't know the games were remade. Now I am interested. I'm buying if I find a Physical version
Are any of those game gear games any good?
So in the past I played Tails Adventure and Sonic 1 & 2 specifically and they're pretty lame. I mean, cool to have Sonic on a handheld at the time, but it's just a very compressed limiting experience. But there's plenty that I haven't played so when I pick up the collection I'll run through them and see for myself
@@WesDoesGames the Mario 3d all stars had emulated all three Mario games but aplied filters and stuff to make the game cleaner and smother, maybe they can give the same threatment to origins plus
Guess we'll find out soon 👍
@@WesDoesGames i liked tails adventure although sonic 2 no but something people been pointing out is a lot these games have master system versions with a bigger screen wonder why they don't use those version
I hope they release origins plus (digital) as DLC
(Basically how they released maina plus(digital))
Yes, just for playing as Amy.
You can also that was something called it's having more games and having a new playable character
There’s save states in Origins?
I got an ad for it when I clicked on this video
That's weird
I’ll give sonic origins a 2nd chance just to buy updated version of the game
I’ve been wanting this game since the launch. But I won’t buy digital games unless it’s a must have game. Now that it’s physical I bought it.
The worst cons of Origins is the lack of lives on the improved version. That's just ridiculous and make the game too easy
If you wanna think about it, at least paying retail is better than paying what i refer to as “retro market prices” albeit a bit scuffed
Yeah gamecube games especially are up there
we need a sonic adventure remake
That'd be great
thing is, they promised us new characters in the BASE GAME without even letting us play as knux in CD, now we're expected to just buy the DLC so we can actually get what we were promised. They threw in the crappy game gear ports as well just to make more money quickly off plus, knowing full well we'll buy it just bc of amy. why not just make her seperate doe??
I somehow saw the game on my switch with a 20 dollar price tag so i had to buy it, paying a little bit more to play amy doesn't sound that bad to me and also the game gear games which i like a lot :) if people have the gamecube collections this is maybe still a skip, maybe save money to buy sonic superstars though.
Im pretty excited for Superstars
Is it run better on pc at all?
Do we need a second DLC to get Knuckles in Sonic 2? I don't know why they would exclude it otherwise.
I don't think the game was finished on time
knuckles in sonic 2 is on the base disc or cartridge, it’s just selecting knuckles as your character in sonic 2 when you open it
I’ll be getting this one
16 games 4 that I never finished, 12 that I never played, a playable Amy, save states, the mobile ports able to be played with a controller (specifically a real D-Pad), and the urge to beat every classic sonic game before Superstars comes out… I’ll buy
Closest one I got to beating was Mobile Sonic 2 I’m stuck fighting the Death Egg robot, I keep losing rings… Skill issue am I right?
Something I think worth mentioning that you can play these classic titles with drop dash which make them new experience
It's a nice addition!
I’m buying origins plus in the hopes for the definitive way of playing 1,2,3,k and cd. I really hope that the mobile versions (and sonic 3 air) don’t stay as the definitive way to play.
Another Con for us Steam/P.C. users which is NO Steam Remote Play or for console/handheld and again "Steam/P.C." users is NO online Multiplayer
I would doubt that Plus had finally have some sort of Online Multiplayer or just Steam Remote Play and it'll already be a year without it, it took up until 2019 for Steam Remote Play to release and Mania has that option for Remote Play but Origins on the other hand doesn't. Looks like that friends and or family will have to be invited to take time out of their day just to come over to your location and play Local Multiplayer or be lucky enough to have a Steam Deck or some sort of P.C based handheld "since those are popping up after the popularity of the Steam Deck" and yes, Switch too with them to play Local Multiplayer.
Btw, I assume that Sega didn't take the Hidden Palace Offer to restore the proper replaced Sonic 3 & Knuckles Tracks which includes the ruined Super Sonic Theme. Sonic 3 A.I.R has the proper Super Sonic Theme and replaced tracks For Crying Out Loud.
Funnily enough, I waited to buy the game initially because of the price, and that waiting ended up being the right move since Plus got announced. Granted I'll still probably hold off on that as $40 to play games I already own elsewhere isn't something that sits well with me, even if they did add the option to finally play as Classic Amy, but that's not quite enough to swing me. I have no doubt that it'll go on sale by the holidays, and I'm perfectly content with waiting a bit longer to save $20 I can put towards Superstars instead.
Now considering: back in my day a Sega game was $39, and that was back when the original Sonic the hedgehog was out and Sonic 2. Sonic 3 and knuckles what's double that price tag 79.98 dollars in total sonicsCD with the add-on being First off and foremost $100+40 dollars give or take some tax. Now the full price of today's is $50, and considering what I've seen them go for on eBay I say it's a reasonable cheap price tag even if we count for the upgrade version now being an extra $5 for those who like me actually bought it before it was being created. Or depending if my Nintendo coins actually go well I could get that for free like I did for the upgrade for mania. I would say this is still a good bargain especially compared to the update version when it comes to Sonic mega collection plus the only other extra park I would like is if they added some of the arcade games but I understand why.
I’ll wait until they add sonic adventure 1 and 2 on sonic origins. Or if that would be a separate collection if they ever decide to make that?
I never bought origins when it released. Was way too pricey to me being I had the other compilations. Will get the physical copy of plus to go with my maina plus on switch. Hope the bugs are ironed out
The only thing I care about is if it has the Japanese Sonic CD soundtrack. If it does then I will buy it again 😂
