  • Pruning your succulents doesn't have to be stressful, even when it puts stress on your plants!
I had two Kalanchoe "Lavender Scallops" that I pruned several months ago. I replanted them, and today I'm revisiting how they're looking.
In this video, I walk you through how this Kalanchoe is coping since being pruned, and how the cuttings are doing.
Find out if my pruning helped or hindered new growth in today's video!

What is it about kalanchoes getting leggy and tall. I have a mother of millions that all of them (since they have so many babies taking off) grow tall with a small head. I have cut them down before, but the top which is put in soil, still gets very tall again!

Every succulent I have pruned has died. I am new to this and I usually prune as a last ditch to help the plant. Thank you for letting me know I'm murdering the succulents instead.

Pruning is actually a great thing to do for succulents. But if you are pruning them after they've already started to struggle, that usually stresses them more and they end up not surviving. You can get more details here:

Thanks Cassidy! Will the growth that you cut off and put into aqua pot variegate now or does it have to be new growth that comes out variegated? Just wondering since the new growth on original plant is already variegated. 😊

New growth could start getting it, but any non-variegated leaves won't suddenly get stripes. Once the plant has lost variegation it's hit or miss as to whether new growth will variegate again. But it's definitely a possibility!

It's called the Succulent Tracker. You can search for that in the app store or go to succulenttracker.com to download it.
