The day John died I was in my middle teens & that night we went down to the Grapes pub in Mathew Street obviously everyone was in shock it was quiet we got some drinks & sat at a table in the front corner & this fella pulls out a Harmonica & starts playing Love Me Do. He absolutely nailed it, played the riff but carried on & played the whole song. Just one of those perfect moments in life you never forget. 🙏

When the school closed Paul bought the building & it's now a Fame/Music school. As you say losing Marley so young was blow the only other loss that really hit me hard was Bowie. I met Paul on the 8th floor of Capitol Records. He shook my hand and in his Liverpool accent asked me " So what's is like working here?" I was dumbfounded and in awe. I'll never forget it. He was just so nice.

For decades, this song was written of as no more than a 'warm up' for the brilliance to come. In fact of course, as we all now realise, the Beatles didn't do 'warm ups', it's brilliant and 100% worthy!!
If you take the Mozart's 40-th or Bethoven's Für Elise and many other chef d'oeuvres - they sound so simple! Same with Love Me Do. It is a real masterpiece. It cannot leave indifferrent anybody who hears it for the first time in his life. There is something in this song that just captures you.

So you want Paul to sound 35 or 40 again ? He will be 80 in June 2022..he has been touring , recording for 60 + years does 3 hour shows not even a sip.of water or wipes his face..gives all his has and more. He's older, grayer and yes his voice is worn. I would gladly see and enjoy him.for how ever long he.lives...
