Its known to be 25 small engines combining to provide the delta-v of a single raptor divided by 6 (lower gravity), but also angled to loose about a third of the delta-v. Thus each is about 1% raptor thrust (~20 kN) and running on methalox. So either a new SpaceX engine, an old experimental engine that SpaceX set aside, or maybe some "small" methalox engines from another NASA supplier. Wikipedia suggests these would be "high-thrust methox RCS thrusters" on a list of SpaceX engines. Fitting a 20kN vacuum engine in about 1m of surface shouldn't be too difficult for an experienced rocket designer.

Scott "You just science the shit out of it" Manley
Honestly you're one of my favorite youtubers, I don't really think adding a bunch of fancy production would add anything. Sitting at your desk and talking with some pictures and videos is pretty much exactly what you need to get your point across.
I’d like to know more about the landing propulsion section for starships lunar lander! I’m sure you have some speculations.
Just keep doing what you love, you are killing it. Love the variety and passion!!
20:10 Wait... is Scott Manley NOT the guy to talk to about rockers and science? I thought that's why we're all here, because he's the guy
Scott is the ONLY rocket guy I watch with any regularity. Dunno about the rest of you, but the unadulterated nerd is very much my style.
Scott, sometimes we're cooking, sometimes we're cleaning. sometimes our minds are wandering as we go about our daily business. It's nice to have someone on the same wavelength just chewing the fat over hypotheticals or small details. It is appreciated.
My question is so far away haha Gonna be a while ! Love the time that you are taking to answer all the questions !
"I've got some uranium in that cup" he says, casually gesturing behind him. THIS is why Scott Manley is the BEST.
I like the Q&A format
Keep it weird and scrappy!!!! Me and my 4 boys love your content, you and your peers have reignited my love of science and space. THANK YOU
Don't change your channel Scott. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Too many otherwise good channels are ruined by loud, discordant music!
Thank you, Scott - it's always appreciated.
i really want to know the story behind "DJSnM", but i dont have the money for patreon =(
He used to DJ as a hobby, and S.M. is Scott Manley. Not sure about the n, possibly a joke.
@@danieljensen2626 yeah, I was wondering if it was a deliberate reference to BDSM
One of my favourite things about your videos is how off the cuff they are. As long as you keep dropping knowledge I’ll keep watching.
BTW....What IS your favorite book?
... and one further question:
“Underwear: Boxers? Or Briefs?” 😉
The reason I love (and watch) your videos is because the one thing driving them is your passion!
Your style of not having fancy graphics makes you explain things how you see them in your head and and that gives us a chance to understand your thoughts.. and if you do your 'job' very well you break it down far enough for the laymen to get you.
That's your secret sauce and its Invaluable.
Keep it up.
Nicely done, sir. And thank you for being so honest. I think most of us watch because we knew that it was always be delivered with the utmost enthusiasm.
You are already the most trusted guy on UA-cam about rockets and spaceflight! Between you and Amy from Vintage Space, I'd say you're both the opinions I most trust in regards to the subject
i will watch whether you do fancy videos or ones like this. i learn so many tid bits. i am just grateful that you make them. thank you
No one needs fancy anything. There's more room for information the way you do it. Keep doing that thing you do! They're all trying to keep up with you, not the other way around.
One missed point on asteroid mining: Although Scott is entirely correct about minerals being returned to Earth, some might be used in space, including hydrogen and oxygen used for rocket fuel. Use in space would change the economics.
Scott - don't change a thing. You're very authentic in these videos, something that is lacking from most UA-camrs. Stay authentic. Thanks!!
Great and very refreshing episode. Thank you very munch for ALL of your great content. Your channel is a real gem!
My favorite part of Scott Manley videos is the seemingly random and abrupt endings.
One of my favorite examples of the colloquial use of “efficiency” not being great is that fact that, when we’re talking in technical terms, resistive heaters are 100% efficient.
Love what you do and I don't mind a longer video, especially the Questions... fun to hear you talk about what you love... GO.
This is my favorite channel. I thoroughly enjoy the presentation and knowledge. Thanms
In terms of quality, I think this is far better than stuff that is "professional". You're probably the only person I'm subbed to that I watch the ENTIRETY of all videos, without skipping any bits
I like your channel the way it is. When you need visuals they are great and when you don't its just a one way conversation with our buddy Scott!
Fancy production has it's place. I watch you because it seems more personal and more like a conversation. Keep up what makes you happy.
I hope this channel never changes. Always superb!
