    I spent two weeks there last November, I was to go to Paris, but, had to cancel due the awful events that occurred. It rained every day, but, I had the best time ever. Dublin has everything you could possibly want. The people were friendly yet stylish and attractive. I saw the most beautiful women. The food was of a much higher quality than the food we eat here in the states. I did go to the Green Hen which was very good. The shopping was also very good. I liked Brown Thomas and lots of small shops around Grafton Street. Dublin can easily rival many cities around the world. I've been to London, but, I enjoyed Dublin much more.

      True Irish? So because Dublin isn't packed to the rafters with folksy culchies, it isn't truly Irish? What a load of bollocks.

      Well, in terms of the costs of living (at the least), Dublin, certainly, rivals New York (e.g. to be able to survive in Dublin, by yourself, i.e. no one to share the costs of living with, and/or no social welfare assistance, you need a salary/wage of, at least, €4000/month; conversely, for a similar living scenario in New York, you need a salary/wage of, at least, $4000/month).

    So many great spots in this video. I love Against the Grain! I moved to Dublin about 6 months ago and I just love it here. I've been posting weekly videos of my travels around Europe and my most recent is from Dublin!

    Back around the 1950's, 60's, or 70's, my family owned a family pub in Dublin, Ireland and ran by great grandparents and grandparents. Me and my Mom never been to Ireland as we were both born and have grown up our whole lives in Canada. I hope
    to visit Dublin, Ireland some day.

      If u haven't visited yet save urself some money by booking directly with the hotel or bed n breakfasts directly and u don't have to book accommodation in the city centre as public transport is frequent and cheap. Look online for even more savings.

    Why does every advert for Ireland centre around alcohol? No wonder that girl was refused the Job is South Korea..... This is what our tourist board pushes.....

    • @1niallbradley
      @1niallbradley 10 років тому +14

      Understand what your saying, but we do have the best pubs in the world, and when people are on holidays they like good food and a good drink, that girl was refused a job on a stereotype, one that's hard for us to shake, EU statistics on alcohol dependency show we are well below other countries, the tourist boards website Discover Ireland is a fantastic example of what we have to offer!

      There were three sections. Drink Just happened to be one of them for obvious reasons. Guinness is a well known brand throughout the world and for those who enjoy it really do like the tour. I for one did. I do wish they had included Dublin Castle and/or Trinity College as both were two more great things to see in Dublin but I would not say this centered around alcohol. Hell, they would have included the Jameson Distillery in here if that was there goal.

      36 hours in Dublin not Ireland, when you centre an program like this in one city the scope of topics will be limited . Saying that I do think Dublin has more to offer than what was shown here.

    Despite stereotypes, the Irish are not the world’s biggest boozers not by a long shot.
    According to data just compiled by the World Health Organization, Ireland did not make the list of top twenty drinking countries, although it did come close at number 21 on the list for most alcohol consumption, just behind France and Australia.
    The 2014 Global status report on alcohol and health has Belarus at number one with 17.5 liters of alcohol consumed per capita, for population ages 15 years or over in 2010.
    Moldova followed at the number two spot at 16.8 liters of alcohol consumed. In comparison, the Irish drank 11.9 liters, while Americans, 48 on the list, drank 9.2 liters.

      I trust most Irish people (in Ireland and Europe) are lovely! I've just gotten a bad impression of "Irish" people (who were all "Irish"-Americans) and often tended to be racist, far right, and close minded. Walking down the street on St. Patrick's Day in America and having people yell profanity at me isn't nice. But, yes! I forgot to mention, my wife is Scots-Irish (from Scotland, not America), so there are nice Irish. lol

      @helenaville5939 8 років тому +5

      +Steve J . Twelve years living in New York and have never had anyone yell profanities at me on St Patricks Day. Perhaps you drew it on yourself. Dublin was voted the second most friendly city last year in a world survey so you'll get a great welcome. Just steer clear of the Unionist parades in Northern Ireland during the summer months. They don't take well to foreigners up there I hear.
