    A few people have Klippered these machines recently and push some pretty amazing speeds from it in fairness. You can print a base which sites under the unit and houses the PSU + a Pi, I’d like to see your mods on this and see how far you can push it without adding any additional hardware aside from a pi. Ps X and Y belt tensioner mods are available to print.

    I definitely was impressed with mine for $80 used. I did the top mounted spool roller, PSU underneath riser mod, klipper, and textured pei. Nice little printer now.

    I bought a printer with all bells and whistles with the idea of it being my daily driver. Sadly enough it's becoming a project. So bought the kp3s as a backup. The magnetic bed on mine is stronger. I put on a bed probe, pei sheet and Klipper. Now this is my little workhorse with zero issues. Of all the reviews I have seen yours gives the best overview of the pro's and cons 👍

    To fix that fan sound, get a bit of ptfe lubricant(oil) and drop a bit of it into the middle of that fan! This worked for me with a cheap pi fan

      The 3010 fan is sealed (cant oil it). Just go for a 4010 fan and solder it. You'd have to ditch the metal housing and print a bracket for both fans. Worked out in the end for my KP3s.

    I bought one as my first printer after your previous streamings and I am very happy. It's built solid as a brick. Ok out of the box is not mind blowing fast but as you said it has potential and for the moment I am happy to familiarise myself with slicer settings and various filaments materials (not ABS untill I switch the heartbreak which cost £5 for a pair in the Kingroon shop). Like the one you have tested I had no issues with the provided config for the slicer. I am using prusaslicer. Thank for the great suggestions.

    Tyvm - got this thing for 134€, added a Linux compatible tv box (T95max, 25€), put klipper on it - now i have to keep myself from tuning it further. I have no issues using ASA, since the PTFE doesn't got to the nozzle but ends at the heat break (that can lead to clogging if it isn't flush). All in all: a great little machine.

    I’m glad to see that Kingroon finally got their crap together, the original KP3 was a serious fire hazard. They offered me one of the KP3s machines in exchange for taking down one of my videos explaining several of the issues that led to me getting rid of mine.

    Just ordered one (second printer) with a 13% off coupon from Kingroon (did the old, add to cart and let sit for a day, they sent me a coupon in the email). $157.52 shipped. I'm currently Klipperizing my Biqu B1 and wanted a smaller second printer for traveling and as a backup while I'm busy modding my B1. For the price, it seems like a great little printer. Also, I'm keeping my B1 as a Bowden setup (just did a volcano all metal hot end) so it'll be nice having the KP3S for flexibles.

    Just brought one of these printers to boogie on with while i scratch my head with my Enders. It was brand new put together and never used. Im picking it up tomorrow. I hope for happy days. (I was going to buy the Lerdge iX Printer but they apparently have no way of shipping to the UK.... Their loss, I was set to buy. Saved alot buying this though.)

    Just an FYI, the board is not a MKS Robin, it does not match any of them, the Robin v1.1/1.2/1.3 have end stop and ribbon cable connecters where the heater and fan connectors are, basically a mirror image of this board, but other components are in different locations, it also does not match the Robin Nano V3 and looks nothing like the Robin Pro, Robin Mini or the Robin Lite, biy they really like the Robin name.

    • @NexGen-3D
      @NexGen-3D Рік тому +1

      Follow up: I have spoken to Kingroon and is indeed a Makerbase board, but its a custom one made for them, but is still very similar to a Robin board, newest version has TMC2225 integrated drivers.

    I own an original Kp3 that ive increased the Z to 400 on. and a kp3s that ive increased the Z to 400 on. Both printers can have there Z extended to 400mm without having to extend a single wire. all the wires are long enough. super cheap upgrade an you can get the z screw / 400+ mm 2040 from zyltech custom cut and shipped.. The original kp3 is a monster. howerver i do like the direct drive units, the old bowden kp3 is a speed demon.

    Any chance for a video on the updated "Pro S1" version of this? It has linear rails on all axes (dual on Y), as well as belt-tensioners and an the power supply integrated into the base, so it seems to tick most of the boxes regarding almost everything you criticized. For ~250 USD it still competes in the cheapest price class.
    Personally I'm very excited for this machine. I've followed 3D-printing for almost 10 years now, but was never in a position to afford such a comparatively costly hobby. Last year a lot of things changed, and this machine is where I will finally take the leap. I'm waiting for the shipment notification as I'm writing this!

    • @CanuckCreator

      It is large yes but works quite well, the default accels in the FW is only 1k, and the stoke slicer profile isnt aggressive with speeds and feeds.
      But once your start tweaking and adjusting, this machine probably could be quite fast and a lighter toolhead would help for sure.
