As a Cb Cadet ZTX5 owner for the last 5 week, I can say that this is a great “Pro-sSumer” zero turn... with 15 hours on mine i can say its been great so far. Beefy and Strong. Perfect for those that have too much land for a chap residential mower but not enough need for a professional. I have the snow plow too. I have pulled a de-thatcher, Aeroator, and seed dropper. And a 400lb roller. ZERO complaints... and love the comfy features..... Cut quality is top notch. I have the 3 bagger system and is has more than enough Suck, that it doesn’t need a motor for the bagger! @CubCadet - send me some love, for dropping $6,800. ;-)
It looks like a very well designed and thought out mower. And its awesome they let you demo it, but it's too bad they wouldn't let you use it for a whole season to help gauge reliability for a long term buyer :)
I bought this mower, about 3 weeks ago, to replace an undersized tractor mower that I've been using for over 3 years. This mower has cut my mow time almost in half. As a first time ZT owner I appreciated this video. I learned at least 2 new things about my own mower. Overall, super happy with the purchase.
That's great to hear! I thought it was awesome too....Even though I donated it to the local Vol Fire Dept...I'll be buying a couple hundred bucks in raffle tickets to get it back if possible...it's truly a great machine
I just got mine last week, and also have that little critter! Lol The salesman said it’s used to hold the shoot up on the display room floor. Thanks for sharing. I didn’t know the floor deck just lifted up like that. Going to try it tonight! 😂
That will be a very nice raffle prize for your Shiloh Fire Dept. My FD has had some significant donations from various civic groups, and others, over the years. Years ago I was the guy walking behind the worn-out walk-behind mower so the grass around the station didn't get out of hand. A five foot zero turn would have made short work of that. The new (1991) station gets its grass cut by our public works dept. I miss the lawn detail sometimes - NO, not really.
For that tall of grass, (and even taller), on my ZT1-50" with the stock blades and discharge, I would get a lot of grass clippings, (clumps, trails and unwanted discharge), trails just like you did. I just put on the mulch kit and did an area with pretty think 8-10" tall grass, and the kit ate up the clippings amazing well IMO. There were no trails, no "over-blow" where I don't want clippings, and just a few clumps that were easy to pick up by hand, (probably where I turned in a weird way). I did have a few stragglers, (will any mower cut 10" grass with no stragglers? I don't know.). I had to run over again, but no clipping trails. I am going to use the mulch set up all the time.
We bought the zt3 60 last year. It's kindof a residential mongrol with zt3100 hydros and the kawasaki fs730v engine. This year they downgraded the engine. We're very happy with the cut and the performance and the suspended castors and 24 inch high seat back. For a homeowner on 2 acres we found the price point irresistible at 4499 and 0 percent full term financing in their autumn deal. Cub cadet really stepped up their game with these ultima series mowers.
Love the video, we have the new from last year Cub with the 54” deck, what a step up cub has done in quality, I really feel these compete with the Big names in zero turns now
Yep, this is my mower 👍🏻. Love it for my 10acres and yes it takes several hours to complete. Which is why I op to change my oil/filters on my own when mower needs. Attempting to get access to/unscrewing the oil filter sucks. Should be in this video if you are giving it an all-in honest review.
Cool review would be a subsoiler tractor attachment with the pipe layer on it I've seen videos online but not from a regular person would be cool to see how they work on rockier ground if at all. Thanks.
I’ve noticed for the last few years Cub has really started adding little details. I like it. Nice job on the review sir. 👍🏻 Also I cant tell how many mower side chutes I’ve drilled a hole in and bungee’d out of the way!
I was just thinking about that chute hold open thing. It's good they have something to hold it up, but at the same time I think it sucks that it's a separate piece. I can see that getting lost real easy.
@@af1966 You probably can, but it's more work than just lifting the chute when you do not want it. If you were to use the mower without the chute 100% of the time then taking it off would be the way to go. Besides the chute is there for a reason. If you work around buildings, vehicles and people then you will want to have the chute as it gives some protection from stones and other debris shooting out from the mower. My father got the passenger side window smashed by a rock from a mower so I know things like that happens.
Thank you for the vid, and cutting tall grass. So many vids don't cut very much material and I bet we learn more about a mower's cut when we give it a challenge.
Holy Smokes, I don't need that mower but you sure made me want one. Lots of good stuff on that machine. Yeah Stoney Ridge, continue reviewing thoe tools.
Something I can honestly say coming from a lawn care business stand point is that those shocks on the caster wheels can cause varying cut heights when you hit bumps which can cause you to lose customers but for personal use it is completely up to the individual. One thing that is really nice is a seat with suspension preferably adjustable however this is all from my personal experience and others might disagree. There are many other things that I learned while doing this work that can make any zero turn produce an amazing cut but they can create more work initially and would be completely unnecessary in a farm setting
It’s so relaxing and satisfying to see mowing done. Maybe put together some mowing Monday clips? Not just lawn mowing but hay mowing as well? Just have the drone follow you haha great content! MERICA!
I saw a landscaper demonstrate the new Toro that has a 72" Kohler 34 hp. motor. He blew through the high grass full throttle and it didn't even bog down the engine. But that unit cost almost 3 times as much.
Josh, I have a 13 year old Gravely Z260 60” ZTR. It has a 28 hp Koehler motor. I got it new and mow 3.5 acres a week here in the Ozarks. This mower is as reliable as sunrise. The only service it’s needed is an annual tune up and blade sharpening and a couple of belts in all these years of service. I’m wondering how your Cub compares. When I bought this Gravely it was the best mower available. The Cub seems like a bargain at $6500 with all its features. I have some concerns because my brother in law had a cub cadet 54” for a few years and it was a maintenance hog. But that was 15 years ago. My Gravely was $7000 13 years ago. New ones are about $8000. I’d appreciate your views.
OK, what were the two "bottles" under the seat just back and outside of the polymer bushings for the seat? See them at about 6:17 in the video. No windshield so it wouldn't be for that and it is an air cooled engine so you got us. Thanks for another GREAT video.
Thank you Josh!!!! after watching your video couple of times I end up purchasing one lol. I’m pretty it’s worth the Investment. Again thanks for all the helpful info I appreciate it.

Hey Josh thanks for the awesome review! In regards to video ideas, have you considered doing a comparison of the ATV(s) versus a light duty truck like the hundred dollar truck? If you were advising someone who is planning on reclaiming an abandoned farm which would you recommend they bought first and why? They both seem very useful but it would be interesting to hear from your experience which vehicle has added the most functionality to the farm.

Already cutting the grass!? Here in central Wisconsin my grass was just about starting to think about growing and then we got another 6-8 inches of wet heavy icy snow. Probably won't see the ground again for a week or more.
Hi! I just moved from the city to the country side and been looking around for a zero turn. I really like the cub cadet. If you can compare the ztx5 with other cadet I would really appreciate it. I have just a little over two acres with hills. Thank you for your video.
So many Zero Turn Mowers - so little time... Will you be doing a "Made in America" video at the Cub Cadet plant later this year Stoney Ridge? Can't wait to see that one!!!!!
i love cub cadet, i would love to see you review the z-force sx or any of the cub cadet steering wheel zero turn mowers, id love to see what you think, and id love to test one out myself. i have a cub cadet mx 500 and love it. i am pretty much gonna always be a cub cadet guy
Why would you need to clean out the deck after each mow? The deck is heavy duty...has an awesome warranty...I have never cleaned out from under a mowing deck under normal mowing conditions...one rule a landscaper told me...don't wet your machine! Don't mow in the wet! and don't pressure wash it unless you want premature failure of greasable parts
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer I never mow in the rain or when the grass is visibly wet but the underside is always caked with grass when I'm done. I have to scrape it out so the deck doesn't rust. Some of that is because I'm mulching, not shooting out the side. Craftsman garden tractor, the "washout port" is a total joke. May work if you only cut 1/4" off every time.
So the big question is. How can your viewers enter for this raffle? They have the potential of selling over 50,000 raffle tickets just from your viewer's. Will they ship it? And generate a lot of money.
Maybe you could get your hands on a stump grinder or wood chipper to review?
I have both...one I just mounted to the Massey and the stump grinder goes on the Ventrac...great minds think alike!

So many Zero Turn Mowers - so little time... Will you be doing a "Made in America" video at the Cub Cadet plant later this year Stoney Ridge? Can't wait to see that one!!!!!
Amazing zero turn
i love cub cadet, i would love to see you review the z-force sx or any of the cub cadet steering wheel zero turn mowers, id love to see what you think, and id love to test one out myself. i have a cub cadet mx 500 and love it. i am pretty much gonna always be a cub cadet guy
Hey will those shocks fit the Ventrac?
Great question, those would be great on the Ventrac!
Beautiful lawn
You should checkout Spartan zero turns
Great working machine
Best mowing deck in the business IMO.
Then you've never mowed with a Scag, Toro or Exmark.
Great Vid FYI you should never cut off more than 1/3 of your overall height of your grass so your grass recovers faster Just Sayin
How do you get under the deck to clean out after mowing?
@@brucealvarez9263 Check out a product called Super Jack Pro.
@@user-gx2bs1vq7w I have a tractor lift (front end) for my garden tractor. Good to know they make similar things for Z turns.
So the big question is. How can your viewers enter for this raffle? They have the potential of selling over 50,000 raffle tickets just from your viewer's. Will they ship it? And generate a lot of money.
I'm working on that...maybe a raffle on facebook...that would be awesome!
What type grass is that? How did you get it so green?
k 31 fescue! Good stuff around here
