A fine, fine entry for the Sad Bastard Vinyl Tag, Mark. Tom Waits' 'Time' is an excellent selection: that song always gets me. A perfect Tears In Your Beer showing as well. I haven't listened to Tonight's The Night in a long time....I'm trying to stay positive these days! I'll put on some Lesie Gore Sunshine! Rocky Horror Sdtk-I can see that. 😎🎶 Enjoy the time with your daughter. ❤️
Brilliant choice with Berlin. I should have chosen that one. Finally, someone picks a John Cale record. The only reason I did not choose this record for any of these questions is because I talk about Cale way too often! I loved your answers here. and especially the shout out! I am waiting impatiently for his reply 😄
Hey Mark, it's been a hot minute since I last posted a comment (life's been busy). You've got high tech with your videos these days! Clapping in the background, laughter! Weeding out the sadness here I see! "Angie" is such as depressing song! When it all boils down to it, it's amazing how many sad songs there are out there... I hope that you are doing well. Cheers, Darryl.
Hey, Darryl! Thanks for saying hello! I haven't been on YT as much myself. Hope to start getting back in the game around the New Year. Happy New Year to you!
Nice entry Mark. Your moving and theatrical reading of Tom Waits really choked me up. Mazzy Star- great pick. That one is one I want to pick up. Luxy to Iowa!
I enjoyed your entry in this thread! I would put myself in this category but I am stumped by some of the questions so I probably won't enter. I'm excited to see what a positive guy like David will come up with. I'm happy for you that your daughter is moving closer. My son is still in high school, but I think I will be a wreck when he leaves, haha. Cheers Mark!
Thanks, Scott! No matter how much you brace yourself, your kid leaving home for the first time is devastating! You'll be ready for the Sad Bastard tag then, for sure.
I’m with you on Purple Rain - I love it but it was EVERYWHERE!! This was fun, ironically. I usually make a lot of comments but I was just enjoying this. Hey, Rocky Horror does have a lot of melancholy- “the darkness must go down the river of my dreams - flow Morpheus flow and let the sun and light come streaming into my life…”. I might’ve mangled the lyrics but that dude sings with so much pathos - I always imagine a night creature who yearns for the light of day…loss of innocence. Ok, maybe I’m putting too much into that. Oh my, I’ve been challenged!!! Now I’ll have to use Rocky Horror and EXPLAIN IT PROPERLY!!! Lol. Love the Gore clip - and her bouncy hair style!!!
I'm glad you can discern the melancholy of Rocky Horror! Don't feel any pressure to do this, David, but I think Vinyl Richie will be disappointed in you if you don't. Not sure you'd be able to live with that!
I saw Prince on his Purple Rain tour. Yesterday is a great choice. My girlfriend and I went and saw Rocky Horror Picture Show tripping on acid. I thought the movie was great. A few years later I rented it on VHS and I thought it kind of sucked. I did watch it about 10 years later at a revival theater and it was a fun evening.
The sad clown in your thumbnail is a little unsettling with its big red nose and sad eyes, but I liked your choices! I’m a big Mazzy Star fan too. So glad to hear your daughter is back in town!

Ha! Thanks, Ed! Hope everything is sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows for you this holiday season!
Great video Mark as usual ! I'll let you know when it's not ! 🎄🎄💚💚✌😺😅👍
Thanks, Piccolina!

I knew you'd appreciate the John Cale album! No one is going to beat Murder Ballads, though. Well played!

Thanks, Shawn! I love Mazzy Star, but not as much as Luxy back in Iowa!

Sunshine lollipops and rainbows was used in a cloudy chance of meatballs so that's pretty sentimental to me had no idea it was by her.
I watched that movie with my daughter back in the day! I must have blocked the song out of my memory, though. Always so happy to see you, Jack!
Have a nice visit with your daughter.
Thanks, Catherine! Best Xmas gift, ever!

My grandma had those Emmett Kelly clown paintings hanging in her house. Always creeped me the hell out! Always so happy to hear from you, Stephanie!
Great choices!
Thanks! I was a little overwhelmed as there was so much to choose from.
Garage Geek needs to do this,
Agreed!
