TNR - Trapping a wild feral cat 🐈 Crazy Freak Out ! Part 1

- *Update December 2021.. since so many viewers are concerned about the cat's well-being after the making of this video, I have uploaded the video of releasing the feral cat in the same location it was trapped. (I was unaware the release video had saved after recording).*
I have a few feral cats that have gradually started coming around my house since I began feeding one a couple of months ago... I heard about the TNR program that a lot of cities sponsor to keep the cat population down, but it does require trapping them to be able to get them fixed! The process was actually pretty straight forward, I got 3 cats in a 2 hour period in 1 night. This video shows the cat finally building the courage to step inside & onto the trip plate that closes the trap door. This cat freaked out the most of the other 2 cats that I trapped.. but he was alright once I got the trap covered with a towel up to the point that I loaded them up into my car & took them to the clinic.
Do you have any experience trapping feral cats for TNR? Please comment below & share your experience! Thanks for watching! - Домашні улюбленці та дикі тварини
Few months ago, I drove out to my sisters and a cat was sitting on the sidewalk just waiting, she was skinny, smelled like infection, and had worms. Neighbors said she was a stray, asp had her ear snipped too and my assumption was that that was how they could tell she was fixed since they have so much fur to look for a scar on their tummy. I called the shelter and they said they’d treat her but then give her to animal services and they had the option to euthanize her and she was so sweet so I took her home to clean her wound and get better then she became my baby and is the best cat ever. She loves attention and allows me to put her in a Harness and go outside for 20-30 min. Then she is perfectly fine coming back inside and we do it again the next day. Only thing is she hates other cats. HATES them. But is ok with big dogs and small dogs, plays with them even. Months later just started looking into it and I wonder if she was captured, neutered, (feeling terrified) , then released and no one to even realize she had an infected gash on her cheek for who knows how long.
You're a saint ❤ 👍
Reverse gear: engaged
Cover them with a towel right away. They will stop freaking out almost immediately.
Absolutely, Sarah. Have a blanket ready. You don't stand with your foot on the trap, watching the poor sod thrashing about. ❤️😾

@My Channel Nuh, just those like you that are quite obviously sociopaths. You all wish you were The Joker
@My Channel So you like being compared to The Joker, who happens to be a murderer? What a surprise...
@My Channel LMBO, you had nada to say so you had to resort to cheap insults like a pedantic poppet.
Don't bother reading the comments. 90% of them are about towels
Lol
I see
Its not about towels it's about covering the cat won't freaking out
Wanna get high?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Put a towel over it as soon as it happens so it can calm down a bit. I have to go trapping soon ! We have to do what we have to do. This way no more babies.
The problem is they still eat everything. As sad as it is the problem is out of control, billions, yes billions of animals are killed by feral cats in the USA alone. Australia started culling the feral cat population which is more effective than Trap nuder release
Feral Cats must suffer
@LeafyÿLavender well in Australia at lest
Also remember to squish that cat!
@@fu9793 Gently squishing a cat makes them feel more secure and comfortable. It also relieve stress, and for the cat, it feels good. As long the cat is squished gently, there will be no harm to the cat.
I've found that covering as much of the cage trap with an old towel or tarp helps... not a lot, but it does help. The wife and I are on our fifth TNR this year (with about seven more to go).
You are beautiful souls. ✌
@@farifwb7060 My soul needs all the good karma it can get... The wife and I are supporting three house cats (all three are rescues of sorts), two neighbor cats whose owners ignore them, and about eight strays at the moment. We're going through about 50 cans of cat food a week. Getting old, I worried what the strays were going to do when Iowa's weather turned cold and nasty so I turned three old trunks into heated shelters for them.
@@farifwb7060 ua-cam.com/video/t11PAXJfxFw/v-deo.html
Yeah it can help, it makes it so they can't see any threats coming or any any distractions
Cover it when you set it, leaving door exposed. So they won't freak out. They can hurt themselves and that defeats the purpose of using a humane trap.
How could he turned around back and forth in a tight confinement like that.? Awesome
Their spines are extremely flexible
If the cat could read, he'd not fallen for the trap
Honestly I'd call this a tame reaction. Sure they're spinning but the cat didn't even make a peep. 99% of the time the cats will start screaming at the top of their lungs but this cat took the whole being trapped thing very well all things considered.
yes, very surprising he wasn't making any noises while I was recording... when I was placing a towel over the cage, he was making a very loud low growl and then hit the side of the cage with his paw, pissed off hissing at me.. it was hard to transport the cage with this cat behaving the way he was!
@@StR8uP254 If you're having trouble transporting the cat in a cage you should add a handle on the top of the trap which is out of reach of the cat.
@@Rocky-oq9cy good idea
@@Rocky-oq9cy I put the claw end of a hammer through the handle and carry it that way.
yeah that's what I was thinking. Try catching a rat in a similar trap, they're like a nuclear powered ping-pong ball
If you use a towel
Towel
Towel
Towel😂
Towel
Oh another towel
Yeah, keep spinning 'round. That'll turn back time.

Thank you Cher-y much
not a bad reaction.. the ones i caught were violent.. pissing all over the place.

If the cat think's this is bad.....just wait till he gets to the clinic and finds out what they plan to do to it.
When an introvert goes to a party and realizes it was a mistake.
Putting your foot on top on the cage to show dominance and that you captured it 😂 Salute sir, I hate cats
The city of San Jose would catch stray cats and drop them in my neighborhood. At one point we had 20 cats in front of my house this trap helped me relocate all of these cats
If you toss a 45acp into the cage they calm right down!
Not cool at all!!
I toss a sheet over the cage before trapping to make a little cave (it gives a bit of security in a high stress situation). It makes them feel less exposed too when you take them to the vet.
Uhh sorry but I don’t think he took that thing to the vet
@@CPTGhrelin actually I did, and he is still roaming the neighborhood to this day.
We trapped our feral cat "Ma" once to have her TNR'd. She won't fall for it again though..I've been trying for many years to get her to come in the basement during cold nights, she's not interested...Finally built her a fairly warm shelter, I think she uses it...
If you put a towel over the cage after you set it up, the cat won't freak out as much when the trap drops... Also approaching the cat so quickly after the trap drops will freak the cat out more too.
Good
So lol
Who cares?
Ironically the next recommended video for me after this was "How to socialize feral kittens".
It’s just for neutering him like not killing him right ?
Yes, TNR means trap, neuter, release back to its home territory. No more babies that way
*gets trapped* *turns into Spain without the a*
1 year later, the cat still spinning...
I've participated in TNR and it has cut way down on feral colony near me. It's relatively simple to trap cats. When you set trap cover it except for the door with old sheet or a cover that TNR will lend you.
Amen! Thank you Diane Greene for doing your part in TNR! It really does help & I pray that everyone would see how simple it is! The craziest thing I've noticed since I've started doing TNR is that those who have a strongly dislike cats are the ones that laugh & show no appreciation to this effort, yet they continue to complain about the feral cat population growing!
@@StR8uP254 I believe that's called "the tragedy of the commons," meaning that people want problems remediated, just not by them.
I bought my traps on Amazon. Could not get any help from any TNR bunch.
@@updownstate I spent $400 on feral cats this week. Spay, neuter, vaccines and food.
@@NOT-WOKE-007 In Phoenix TNR targets only two areas at a time, those being the ones most overrun by feral cats. How they figure that out I don't know.
Just tease the cat .say coochie coochie coo and give him sausages
Are there no Chinese restaurants nearby?
There actually is and they take online orders if you're still hungry...!
runs out immediately after trapping. "look its freaking out" acclimation dood
I like that plywood blank modification, I've seen them miss that lever to get to the food. I'm going to try that the next time.
The cat just moonwalking
ME-OUT! ME-OUT! Uncatstitutional!
Sorry kitten, no escape! Good job.
Which do you use ? Rounds ? Airgun bb? Or Knife ?
None of them!
the cat fr turned into a Tornado
Instead of recording it, cover it. It's scared

OH MY GOD!!! I'M TRAPPED!!! WHERE'S THE DOOR!?!? WHERE'S THE DOOR!?!? WHERE'S THE DOOR!?!? WHERE'S THE DOOR!?!? WHERE'S THE DOOR!?!? ... oh, here it is. LET ME OUT!!! LET ME OUT!!! LET ME OUT!!!
How did you get the door to shut when the cat was in
There is a trigger pad that releases the door near the back of the cage by the food bowl so once cat steps on it then the door drops
Dude was not happy!
That cat is tame compared to the one I caught.
Cat: I been betrayed. You humans lie to me
Now 12 gauge that 🦀 bait
Men...what to expect when you get married.
Nah, that doesn’t happen till after the first year. When the honeymoon phase is over.
Me when get caught eating ice at 3am by my mom 🗿
That cat is going to be dizzy as hell.
You’re supposed to cover that cage with a towel it releases the tension from them
bloody hell, I am panicking more than the cat,
Its happening to me also when i tried 2 times trapping a same feral cat but i failed in both attempts...
lol..!
Not really funny, you should have covered the cage right away to stop the poor cat from getting so stressed instead of just standing on the cage, filming for views.
@@spartanthe300ththermopylae4 I’m sure the cat was just fine. Calm down and stop whining.

I also used card board
I had no idea cats were eels until now
😂 ... now just put them into a bath water... 10 min, and the problem is sorted!
😜🥳👻
We had a Mama Kitty with three kittens show up on our property out in the. We started feeding them and then months later we did the trapping and got them spayed and all three females were pregnant. Thank goodness we got them in time. We haven't been able to trap the mail but it's a year later and still no more kittens thankfully. We would have been overrun with cats by now had we not taken them in to be fixed. It's the right thing to do people most cities and Counties have programs that help you pay for it.
Thank you dearly for doing your part in this great act of TNR!
Better than Micheal Jackson
Wow. That is one silent, yet pissed off cat.😂
What did you use to extend the trip plate.
A piece of thick cardboard from a heavy duty box
From where did u got that trap cage???
They sell them on ebay, Amazon, local feed stores, Lowes, homedepot, sometimes at walmart...
Best cat catching video
Thanks!
Should have covered the cage. I’ve caught many barn cats for the snip and tip. It also helps to wear long, thick gloves.
Should he get something to cover it?
I caught a raccoon one night.
By morning, I couldn't lift the trap because it had pulled up wet dirt through the grid on the trap's bottom and compacted it into a solid mass, making the trap weigh too much.
What a clever raykin.
Tf are u even saying
@@SmashDaBlade456 English is hard for you, eh?

what kind of food did you put in the trap to entice it?
I'd be freaking out trapped in a cage too.
where we can get this trap? can anyone will share the link
I hope you took good care of the Feral cat and it is ok
Where do you buy one of these?
Amazon, ebay, local feed store, Lowes, homedepot, you can rent them from local humane society (usually)
How do they handle feral cats at the clinic?
you just keep em covered with a towel or something.
it calms them down
Where do you buy that trap cage?
Cover the cage with some material so the cat feels enclosed in a dark space---leaving it to thrash violently against a metal cage in terror is a bit of torture (or a lot of torture for the cat fearing for it's life).
I did immediately after I stopped recording.
lol,,then find the nearest pond and give one last swimming lesson👍🏼 turtle food
That’s what my computer does when I try to access some “websites” and I go ffs
Cat could have felt as it entered into tesseract
How would you know someone doesn't own it as an outside pet?
Cat performs dragon twister but doesn’t work the cage is too tough
What happens after this? Do they get executed?
No, this represents the first step in the trap neuter and return (TNR) process.
@@StR8uP254 Thanks! I have seen videos which they execute cat after catching it (be warned, it's graphic m.ua-cam.com/video/gxUTl_xd9u0/v-deo.html)

A comment about towels
Omg no more towel comments! Lol
Awesome!!!!😜😜😜
Was that kitty already fixed? If you look right at 0:50 you can see its ear appears to have already been notched.
Yeah I don’t think this was a TnR. More like some bored hicks. I sure hope the cat is alright.
@@waltersobchak7275actually, it was a TNR video...idk who you are referring to in your comment so get the facts straight!! Why would I waste my time making a fake TNR video?!? Pointless if you ask me!!
Just because you apparently find yourself watching a lot of fake videos that you believed to be real in the beginning doesn't have anything to do with this channel. Keep all that extra on those fake video pages!! Tyvm
You put a cloth on the cage immediately to calm it down, got the cage but not the instructions.
You should have seen the fox I trapped last year. I was scared to get near that trap.
That would be an awesome video to upload to UA-cam & share!
Tase it 😂😂
I think NOT..!!!
Should have kept recording
What do y’all do with them?
Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR)
Запираем кота в клетку, вечный двигатель готов!
next time spray it with water from the hose the cold water will shock him out of it and calm him right down
Not a good idea...
I used to trap feral cats from a nearby factory, then take them and let them go a couple of miles from my house until I realized they were finding their way back, so then I would take them to pick a part 20 miles away and let them go in the parking lot
Why not just take them to the pound ? At least at the pound they will either be adopted or worst case scenario, if they put them down it's painless and quick. You don't have to pay to take them there and it's a lot less cruel than to leave them somewhere where they suffer in an unfamiliar territory.
@@liftbuildwin1998it all worked out fine!! Both of the cats in my videos are still roaming around to this day! Apparently it wasn't as bad as you think (at least for the cats)..

Don’t forget to bring a towel
I used to catch quite a few feral cats when my old man lived on a rural property in the Mallee region in the Australian state of Victoria, always caught the male cats and never females. Some of them would go absolutely bonkers inside the traps and some were somewhat placid and didn't even hiss, snarl or spit at me
Gee what would you do if someone pushed you in a small room, slammed and locked the door. You'd stand there peaceably?
Pour ice cold water on them will calm them down
I set mine with the trapping mechanism tie wrapped. I leave it out for about a week. Then I cut the tie wrap with the vet expecting a cat that day. My vet is great. They charge me shelter rates at $37.50 per cat. I am up to about $500 but worth it to me. It is our duty to assist our animals when colonies begin to form. They will likely die horrible deaths without our help. I know there are TNR programs but I live in a rural area. No TNR here.
Thank you ❣️
No local vets will cut a break on feral cats here.
I have to deal with them in the cage trap.
If I recognize a neighbor's cat, I'll throw a bucket of cold water on it and let it consider its career choices.
If feral...quick and humane. A .22 sub sonic round between the eyes and deep into the compost pile.
I like seeing song birds, and toxoplasmosis is deadly.

You can assist them with anti-freeze mixed with tuna. TNR (Trap neuter reabandon) DOESN'T work. Inside cats are pets... Outdoor cats are pets and vermin and aren't exempt from being treated as such.
