- The French Open (French: Internationaux de France de tennis), also known as Roland-Garros, is a major tennis tournament held over two weeks at the Stade Roland Garros in Paris, France, beginning in late May each year. The tournament and venue are named after the French aviator Roland Garros. The French Open is the premier clay court championship in the world and the only Grand Slam tournament currently held on this surface. It is chronologically the second of the four annual Grand Slam tournaments, occurring after the Australian Open and before Wimbledon and the US Open. Until 1975, the French Open was the only major tournament not played on grass. Between the seven rounds needed for a championship, the clay surface characteristics (slower pace, higher bounce), and the best-of-five-set men's singles matches, the French Open is widely regarded as the most physically demanding tennis tournament in the world

Nadal will always be the GOAT of clay court
But tennis goat novak...😢
@@user-ko7zr1pu4uno. The whole big three exists because they are all GOATs. Also players like Sampras or Borg weren't smaller talents , just different times that's why they won less grand slams. And Alcaraz will probably win as many grand slams as the big three. His style of play is really similiar to Nadal's style of play.
@@Maartiinez1337 never alcaraz grandslam record over novak...
@@user-ko7zr1pu4u
why not? let's do a comparison:
Decisions - Djokovic
Forehand - Alcaraz
Backhand - Djokovic
Serve - Djokovic
Return - Alcaraz
Movement - Alcaraz
Strength - Alcaraz
Volley - Djokovic
Slice - Djokovic
Drop Shot - Alcaraz
Alcaraz 5 - 5 Djokovic
it's a tie so Alcaraz can equeal Djokovic's grand slam record
@@Maartiinez1337 what are these cherry picking categories 😭 you just miss one of the most important factor, which is the mental strength. I guess we all know the answer.
Meanwhile, base on your criterias, return and movement gotta be djokovic
1986-2004 - 14 different players won the title
2005 - 2023 - only 4 different players won the title
95% of video is Nadal 😂😂
Lo de nadal es irreal demasiado nivel
Nadal was born to play on Roland-Garros. I'm still pissed that Coria didn't win it in 2004.
Nadal is the greatest clay court player in history ...period.
The most amazing thing about Rafa's record of 14 wins is that it takes at least 14 years.
There have been and will be players who win many titles in a short period of time.
But will there ever be a player who wins one tournament a year 14 times, even at the 250 level, I doubt it.
And his rivals include Peak Roger, Peak Novak, and others who might have been clay kings instead if not for Rafa.
Of all the records in all sports, this one will go down as one of the greatest feats of all time.
Rafael!❤
Truly king of clay
Agreed!
On this timeline you can see how Nadal's hair leaving him.
😂
2015, 2016, two years in a row without Nadal...
Injuries. :(
@@Romans8-9 nadal in 2015 did participate though, he's just not come far
@@tricker14 He was still having problems with his wrist which caused him to miss the 2nd half of 2014. Indeed he failed to win any clay court title in 2015, which is unheard of for Nadal, clearly he was still suffering problems but refused to blame his injuries.
Nadal the goat of clay court
Rafa the best
🐐dominates the last 3 years
last year cus Nadal didn't play😹😹and 2021 cus he was injuried previouly thus the fatigue. Goat of frauds smh😹😹
@@redtord7194 lol the bald cheater is serving for his long term steroid abuse was not good enough to put up a fight against the 🐐
From 2005 to 2022 we can say Rafael Nadal wins only with him making from time to time short vacations.
Borg was incredible with 6 titles from 1974 to 1981 which most thought would never be surpassed.
That all changed with the GOAT of Clay Rafa Nadal who won an unbelievable 14 titles from 2005 to 2022!
A bunch of players ended up with 3 titles.
4 of the all-time greats never won a single title at RG: Connors, McEnroe, Sampras, Murray.
Also Becker, Edberg
@@briancox9357 Yes. So many all-time greats failed to win a single French Open. Nasal’s 14 FO titles is mind-boggling!
@@RamZar50 Sorry you can't call yourself if you can't win a single FO! By that argument they are disqualified...
Clay requires "smart" play and not endless baseline bashing, or being a serve robot... Mixing the rhythm always keeping your opponent second guessing...

People forget that from 1975 to 1977 (3 years) US Open was played on outdoor clay courts!
USO since 1978: Hard Courts
USO 1975-1977: Clay Courts
USO 1881-1974: Grass Courts
Jimmy Connors won USO twice in those 3 Clay Courts years!
Jimmy Connors is the only player to have won the USO on all 3 surfaces!

Hmmm... A bit surprised by Nadal's sheer number of RG titles: 14! He has made RG look like his own personal Fiefdom. However that puts in light (or Shade) his other Slams. No wonder, while he was usually considered overall on par with Federer he is now rated a bit behind Novak who has a much better all round slam record.
Federer better than Nadal in terms of records but worse than Djokovic
When Djokovic lost to Wawrinka in 2016 RG final,I thought he would finish his career without a RG title.Since then,he won three, and is far
ahead of Federer, who won only one RG title, and Nadal, who won only two Wimbledon titles ,as his weakest GS tournament.I did not mention Nadal winning two AO, because everyone knows,if Djokovic was not in jail,Nadal would and should have never won that title.Everybody knows this, because it is true.
Everyone knows that your idol won the recent edition of RG due to Nadal's absence and Alcaraz's cramps.
At Wimbledon, the Serbian player was outclassed by the young Spanish player, this time with no physical problems.
everyone knows that Nadal beated Medvedev in AO who just wrecked Djokovic back in US 2021, if Medvedev cannot handle Nadal, how can Djocovid? Djocovid won this years RG with Nadal withdrawing, so according to your foolish logic RG 2023 doesnt count lol
@@testingforyoutube Djokovic beat Nadal two ( 2X) times at RG, but not in the finals, unfortunately.Nadal never beat No23vak in five main tournaments ( AO+MIA+CIN+PARIS+CHINA OPEN).
Novax only won because Rafa was not at his best and took advantage of that. Novak never beat a fully fit and in-form Rafa at Roland Garros, this is a fact.
@@Al-ji4gd Nadal never lost a match in his life when he was 100% , as every one of his fans are ready to testify to that in court.EVERY TIME Nadal lost a match,it was because he was injured,or not 100%,or he had a bad blister,or an itchy hernia,or he did not sleep well,or something. But after everything is said and done,Djokovic still has 3 GS titles on each surface(RG and USO ) , Nadal only 2.( AO and Wimbledon).
