Great advice. I don’t think anything is ‘blind buy safe’ unless you just have money to burn. Grab free local sprays, get samples. Actual experience is what actually matters.
As a 50 year old man. My thoughts are these. Yes. The big popular ones are definitely still worthy of their thrones. I don't associate many scents with "smelling young" or smelling "man." There are a few exceptions but like. I say wear what you like. Sure certain scents will smell dated. But like when people talk "clubbing" fragrance, like i wasn't in that club smelling dudes. Even if others wear it. I don't care. I don't care of BDC is popular. It's classic. It's never going away just like Chanel No. 5. Get used to it. It will be around until you die. Plus 99% of the people are not associating fragrance with anything. So if you like Y wear it. If you like Channel it's not gonna make a difference. I wouldn't shy away from something i like because others wear it an the reality is most people wear nothing. I do think these are great suggestions of alternatives though. But no i'm not "tired" of hearing about popular scents mostly because all the fragrance youtubers tend to dislike them or are fixated on the status that comes with "niche" fragrances. For me it gives very little status. If you like it good. I say there's nothing wrong with mass appeal. I say if you like it wear it. Cause i'm honestly not really trying to impress anyone but myself and maybe my girl. Maybe.
Interesting. And what about YSL Kouros, or Drakkar Noir, Paco Rabanne Pour Homme? Aren’t these fragrances considered outdated? How can a fragrance be considered an old aroma while another be regarded as a modern aroma?
I love YSL L'Homme so much. It's hard to articulate, but to me L'Homme is like the fragrance equivalent of this emoji: ✨✨✨ What makes YSL L'Homme incredible to me is that it somehow captures everything I love about women's fragrances and gives it to me in a more unisex form that feels way more true to myself. As soon as Spring hits it's going right back in the daily rotation, can't wait.
This was great, I adore gifting people I love with fragrance. You gave me some great ideas for future purchases. Thanks for the input! I would LOVE to see a version of this for women 💭
Great content as always, my brother. I love the creative detours that you take, they definitely set you apart from everyone else making fragrance content.
Fresh content as always. I enjoy that most of your alternatives arent mere note siblings like suggesting pineapple centered frag to aventus or an iris based frag for Prada Lhomme. Its interesting this way as it gives way to vibe rather than a simple note substitute. Im looking for oud bleu intense now because of this and arrakis is now a consideration as well. Thank you Justin!
I’m calling it man sweet - pasha de Cartier parfum. Suitable alternative for Layton in the cooler months as well! Just ran out of my travel spray and my bottle is coming this week. One of the best ones you put me on to, thanks!
@@hc8771 I get solid performance and projection. Not beast mode, but very solid. Fragrantica seems to agree. In the very beginning my wife can smell it across the room, but it settles down into a nice scent bubble.

@stayfreshproductions I agree on just about everything you stated except the Y . It depends on the Y version you're referring to. If its the original 2017 version then I concur, but if its the newer 2022 version I disagree. The newer version is addition by subtraction. In the reformulation they got rid of the lemon and the mint on the top, they kept Adelhydes, begamot, and ginger. The green apple , pineapple, and violet leaf were removed in the middle notes. Replaced by lavender clary sage they kept the geranium. The base is where it really stands apart from the original. They got rid of the musk, balsam fir, vetiver, and incense. The original had ambergis and cedar in the base as well, but they added vanilla and olbanum which makes the drydown quite remarkable.
I sat on Dior Homme 2020 for a while but I finally pulled the trigger and got my hands on it. I'll make it short and simple.... this stuff is absolutely amazing!! I can see this becoming my signature scent and I am looking to see if they have a 5.0 oz bottle as a back-up bottle. Another great video, JC!!

Bleu de Chanel EDP is everything. Amazing opening, classy, versatile and universally loved by females. It's the perfect fragrance. I've never tried a Hermes, so I'll check them out!
Loved the video Justin... but you cut me deep when you put cedrat boise in the dude category lol I smelled it for the first time after spraying my sweater down with TF Oud Wood at a Sephora because I'm cheap. And smelling them side by side later that day, they give off a different smell but a similar vibe. To describe what I mean; I think of Oud Wood as James Bond's signature, and I feel like James Bond would wear cedrat boise in the summer. Haha It's a beautiful woody, leathery scent to my nose and I agree with you the dry down is where it shines.

That’s why I have a small bottle. I always try to get the smaller bottles, because I have so many fragrances… 😅 All the best, from Europe.

However, as I’ve gotten into niche brands, I enjoy getting whiffs of the scent throughout the day. This doesn’t give me that, sad. Any recs? I’ve. I haven't smelled Desirtoxic but Genre Parfums has a clone of it called Toxicity that smells extra sexy for anyone that can't get or doesn't want to pay for the original. I see dark purple when I smell it if that makes sense.
I enjoyed this. But, no diptyques? I love vetyverio edp. have you tried it? I find it relaxing, mature, but use it sparingly since it’s pretty potent. I layer it with light scents too, esp. those that already have vetiver in them. gives the fragrance ‘depth’ 😊
My nex buy will be a vintage 2012 bottle of YSL L'homme. Guess it can replace the Dior Homme Sport as my daily safe scent. It felt like a solid fragrance to me with good quality and far from that synthetic scent as Y. Let me ask you: have you tried Dior Homme Eau For Men yet? It has been discontinued, but I think it's the best in the Dior Homme line.
An ex girl gifted me Gucci pour Homme EDP and I remember not liking it that much, I wore it and omg it was good as hell. Always listen to what girls like on a guy
Once you said: no more Aventus on my Channel! But let's be honest - loved or hate it, despite numerous controversies regarding batch variations, it still smells awesome. It can't be denied that Creed managed to do something unusual - they had made a niche fragrance which became a mainstream bestseller. That was a significant achievement. But that wouldn't be possible if the scent itself wasn't great. What do you think about mixing different batches?
Great video. I got bored with Aventus, so I don't wear it any more. Blue de Chanel is nice but a bit too basic. I happen to be wearing Acqua Di Gio Perfumo today! I think it is the best GA. It is still available here in Dubai. Y is boring, Mr. Burbery is much nicer. A good fresh scent is Versace por homme, I did use oodles of it in the past that is why I don't use it now. Prada is a bit too feminine to me so is YSL L'homme. Arakis sounds interesting, not sure we have the brand here. Cedrat Boise is over hyped and just ok, it just didn't move me much.
I definitely like the breakdown. I could've swore Amouage Reflection Man was coming for Prada L'homme. Both are my work drivers. However would you compare Vetiver to Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver and Roja's Vetiver offering?
@@stayfreshproductions yes you did. I already own Terre d’Hermes so was looking to either purchase the Tom Ford or Roja’s. So I thought this might have been a 3rd contender.
The H24 EDT is obsolete now that the EDP is out. The latter is way better, it has depth & performance which the EDT is missing both. A much more sophisticated fragrance! Also the new Y EDT blows the old one out of the water. I cant stand the sweet EDP so I wear the new EDT as my Nr. 1 freshy and got crazy compliments when I had it new. The Mr. Burberry is way underrated though, the Indigo flanker is also pretty good. But where are the deep resinous fragrances? Stuff like Jazz Club or Noir Ambre by Issey Miyake? I thought this type of cold weather scents were missing completely and in my opinion thats where the real manly gems are. But to each his own :)
The timbre of your voice has always been working to your advantage. I'm sure you've thought about it, and have been updating your mics over the years. However, I've noticed that you also think more about how you use light in your videos these days. It does make the videos easy on the eye :)
I agree 100%…. GG EDP is a very solid fragrance… You are right, you do have to give it a couple wearings to fully appreciate what it does. The rose, salt, balsamic accords…. You get them all when you give it a chance to develop and let the fragrance do what it supposed to do… It obviously is still sweet and mass appealing as stated.. but it does things just a little differentl and I really like it. Definitely something that can give you just a touch of something unique when wearing a fan favorite/ mass appealing scent…
I feel this. Damn just picked up Layton on the Jomashop discount recently. I’m late to the party. 😂 I have to credit you. Lunar vetiver is amazing. Currently moving into my signature spot. Thank again.
I got Layton in 10ml cuz I really like it but I’m inexperienced in the niche range and I know I could easily get bored of it as I’m trying out a bunch of other stuff
When I see three of my fragrances in the man tier, even though I am only in my early 20's. Peak testosterone. I feel like if I would show @Justin my collection he would easily give me 5 fragrances to try that I would definetely love
Yes I agree. I recently bought a travel size sample of it and I was kind of disappointed TBH. The interesting thing was that myself and all the other guys who smelled it didn't seem to care for it at all while my sister's and mother and twin daughters all loved the stuff. They can have it as far as I am concerned
I like the concept of this video actually. Pretty cool topic of discussion.
Thank you
Me too. 👍

I definitely like the breakdown. I could've swore Amouage Reflection Man was coming for Prada L'homme. Both are my work drivers. However would you compare Vetiver to Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver and Roja's Vetiver offering?
Thanks Darryl. I would compare Vetiver more to Terre d'Hermes. I think I mentioned that.
@@stayfreshproductions yes you did. I already own Terre d’Hermes so was looking to either purchase the Tom Ford or Roja’s. So I thought this might have been a 3rd contender.
Nice to see some alternatives to some pretty basic things. Gives a little diversification.
Thank you Sarah
H24 EDT is much better for me than its EDP flanker. The H24 Herbes Vives flanker, however, is good.
The timbre of your voice has always been working to your advantage. I'm sure you've thought about it, and have been updating your mics over the years. However, I've noticed that you also think more about how you use light in your videos these days. It does make the videos easy on the eye :)
Thank you!
A lot of your recommendations are hard to find samples. This format is good, you can get an idea, should be like that, like, all the time
Thank you
I agree 100%….
GG EDP is a very solid fragrance…
You are right, you do have to give it a couple wearings to fully appreciate what it does.
The rose, salt, balsamic accords…. You get them all when you give it a chance to develop and let the fragrance do what it supposed to do…
It obviously is still sweet and mass appealing as stated.. but it does things just a little differentl and I really like it.
Definitely something that can give you just a touch of something unique when wearing a fan favorite/ mass appealing scent…
I love this as a topic for a video! Would love more of these!
Thank you!
@@stayfreshproductions how would you rank Sauvage Elixir based on these categories? Guy level??
Man level!
I wear cologne for myself since I will be smelling it more than anyone else.
Really great content lately, Justin. You're the best.
Thank you Carol!
I feel this.
Damn just picked up Layton on the Jomashop discount recently. I’m late to the party. 😂
I have to credit you. Lunar vetiver is amazing. Currently moving into my signature spot. Thank again.
If you dig Layton, wear it!!
I got Layton in 10ml cuz I really like it but I’m inexperienced in the niche range and I know I could easily get bored of it as I’m trying out a bunch of other stuff
Justin please tell me what will be the alternative of “Yves Saint Laurent Live Jazz” please don’t tell me Boszporuzs Nishane I can’t find it
I have not tried Live Jazz
@@stayfreshproductions please try it and tell me the closest to it. You have better knowledge on that topic
Acqua Di Gio Profumo being discontinued..???
i am sorry BUT could u probably mistaken it with ARMANI Code Profumo..?
No it’s discontinued
@@stayfreshproductions
Oh, my gosh. A good scent has been discontinued yet again.
Still, thank you for correcting me.
Hey Justin, love the breakdown ....this is really good
Thank you Latonya
Hey Justin! Do you still wear Narciso Rodriguez Bleu Noir EDP? Just got it and it smells amazing!
I love it!
One of your best videos Justin, loved it ! Good luck to getting 100k this year 🙏🙏
Fingers crossed! Thank you 🙏🏾
Fragrance is an extension of your personality. I like this concept
Thank you
The only channel to learn “cologne”. The only Chanel that hardly does “Top 10 this , Top 10 that “
Thank you Edmund
Is Guerlain L’Homme Ideal EDP (or intense) Man fresh in your opinion? (I’m considering that my next purchase)
I would consider them Man Sweet (they’re not all that fresh). And they are unusual enough to not be super appealing to every younger guy.
@@stayfreshproductions thank you man
When I see three of my fragrances in the man tier, even though I am only in my early 20's. Peak testosterone.
I feel like if I would show @Justin my collection he would easily give me 5 fragrances to try that I would definetely love
😂 good stuff!
No blind buy 2023!!
Layton is SO hyped around the fragrance community and I don’t understand why it smells women perfume
Loving this ! This was super informative. Thank you!
Thanks Luis!
Justin, I really enjoyed this video. Interesting topic. 👍
Thank you 🙏🏾
High value women are after men not boys, not dudes. Such an important message in this video.
I absolutely love this content.
I love how they're inspired by famous frags
So glad you like Guilty edp! I love it, it’s unique. It smells like a sexy salad 👌
the boy - dude - guy - man evolution is really an intriguing way to match the perfumes.
Thank you
I agree 💯. There are infant fragrances, then adult fragrances.
I wish I had seen this video before I bought some of these.
