I'd find a drop leaf table in round or oval, you could push it against the wall with just one leaf open for yourself or both leaves down to make it more like a hall table. Use both leaves when you have guests. Buy chairs that stack.
Hey Carla!! I have a portable washer that we got right before the pandemic! It was crazy good. We lived in a small 4th floor apartment and what a lifesaver! We still have it at our house now in addition to the other full size ones. I usually air dry everything except sheets. It is a lifesaver!
Oval or round table should give you more room in that nook area. Love the dinner vibes toward the end of the video. Nothing like candles and art to set the vibe!
Hi Carla. I'd look at the square Ikea drop side/drop leaf tables. That way you could fold it down and push it against the wall to save space when it is just you at home.
the **lightness** you feel after that last return!! Love your videos. I like to take the $$ I get from returns to buy myself one small treat like an iced latte and put the rest in an emergency fund or towards a trip.
I am so loving your new haircut. I just rest this weekend too. I usually leave things up through epiphany but then things happened and I had to wait another week to put all the Christmas stuff away. But it feels great to have a refreshed more minimal house again after all the holiday stuff.
I still can't get over how fab your hair looks! Thanks for all the wonderful motivation to get stuff done! I finally took down all the Christmas goodies and got all those bins back in storage and out of the way. Feels so nice!

Hi Carla I think a round table would look great. seeing that your living space is close and your coffee table is round, would look great with black or white chairs. 🥰
I always wondered what the big deal is with planners. I've always used a list. Last year I got myself a planner, which I LOVE! The first of the year, I freaked out when I realized I went through the whole thing! I had to run out & get another one! It keeps me more motivated.
Watching you tackle those pesky returns has motivated me to organize mine, thank you Carla! I appreciate and look forward to your videos. Happy new year to you and Samson! 💕😊
You always give lots of inspiration! I’ve been in a rut lately! I’ve been using the “less is more” mantra and that’s helping me let go and put $$ towards upcoming trips with my kids. FYI I had that washer during my home Reno and it works great!!! I’d use it again in a heartbeat. I like the smaller footprint!
Still love your hair cut! For your dining area - Just a thought - How about benches along he two walls - a square table that you could push up to the wall when you don't need the extra seating and two chairs. It could be a cute all-purpose space when you don't need it for dining. Love your videos!.
I suggest a round table that expands to maybe accomodate 4 people. A round table will take less space and will not impede the flow of traffic around it. Happy New Year!
I think a round table will fit very nicely in that nook! They exist in +- 40 inches in diameter, I reckon that will fit nicely, with 4 suede chairs? So many possibilities!!
Hi Carla, this was a wonderful video. You are so informative. I don't have any children, but some of these young women could really learn a lot from you with home organization. That said, with the hand towels, such a wonderful idea. Last year I decided that the paper towels are getting too high along with everything else in this country. I went to Walmart and brought some of those cheap white wash cloths that are in a bundle of about 15 or 20. I dedicate those rags for only the kitchen. They are kept in a container alone so when it comes to wash they don't get mixed up with any bath laundry. I use them to wash and/or dry dishes. This has really cut down on cost of paper products. Much love from Charlotte, N.C.
That sounds similar to what I do at my home. I buy the pack of white wash clothes from Costco and break them up into rags or dishrags. Rags are marked with an x and when dirty they’re put into their own hanging hamper which is just a nylon reusable bag in the laundry room. Dishrags can be bleached along with my white kitchen hand towels and flour sack towels. It works great! 😀
2 things - one, I love your cleaning & decluttering videos! I find them so relatable & relaxing! two, Guurl, you need to hang some artwork in your space!! lol!! Seriously tho, the vibe you can create with art hanging on your walls is everything & you have so much space to hang! I know you said you were going to rehang that one piece you already have over by your dining nook --- but then I was looking at your stair well & the walls at the top of the stair well - great places for you to create a gallery wall, some ecclectic art or whatever you want or want to diy maybe....just a thought...I think you would love how it feels!! Be Well Carla♥
I like the comments suggesting an L shaped bench and round table. Benches would have storage. You could probably find someone to build them for you. I have seen other channels use short, upper kitchen cabinets as benches. Could get them at Ikea or the basic ones from Lowes. A round table would take up less room. Weather - hope you're in a safe area.
I have a similar washer and it is life changing I hook it up to the bathtub. Sometimes it’s annoying that you can only do small loads but it beats making a trip to the laundromat. Also I feel like it is more gentle on my clothing and will help them last longer.
Love your videos!!❤ Watching you take down the tree, I realized I have the same basket!😲 I got mine from the maker at a fair in Tehachapi, but I'm sure she also does lots of fairs in LA 😄👍
What a great use you made of that rainy day, when you could have wasted it lounging around and watching an old movie, feeling fed up! I love the way that it finishes. You must be so pleased with the way you're starting off the year.
I bought a round 37” cream chunky pedestal table with some funky coral pink mid century modern chairs. I had originally purchased acrylic ghost chairs but needed some color. Which was a big step for me. I found that a drop leaf table usually stayed against the wall in a dark corner that was not inviting. Tip, don’t sit at a table or desk facing the wall, it’s very isolating.
Bench seating against the wall(storage in the bench) and two chairs. And an oval table for your dining nook so you never have sharp edges aimed at you while trying to sit down on the bench. Just a thought. Or round table and 2/3 chairs. Up to you how many you want to accomodate.
I’d suggest a round or oval table plus chairs and some really large wall art to define the area. I’d go for chairs as they are better for back support, for tucking myself closer to the table and cleaning under after the meal! 😮 Just love bistrot style!
I think a square table with benches that slides under the table would look nice & be most space saving. Small decorative trays/plates can be used to coral items. I always have my soap dish in the bathroom on a tray. It's easier to clean up spills.🙂
I‘ve had my fair share of failed dining furniture purchases. Now that I‘m being Minimalist, I found that expandable, non-blocky and stackable ones are ideal for me. I also just buy from IKEA… they‘re uncomplicated. Personally, I have the Lissabo dining table paired with Kyrre stools at home. The table has removable legs so it can be stashed away when we don’t need them. The Kyrre stools are stackable and we also use them sometimes as extra couch sidetables. Been happy with these choices so far. 😊 This may sound weird but I also use a desk chair with wheels (similar to the Blykobb model). I love having it by the dining table. It‘s comfy and easy to use. It‘s also fun just rolling/turning with it. It‘s usually the only one out and the stools are stacked under the table. Perfect for when it‘s just you and since there‘s no backrest, you can also just roll it under the table when you don‘t use it. It’s space saved and out of the way. I think the white round Ingatorp table would look nice in your dining nook. Since it expands for up to 6 people, you can pair it with 4-6 stackable stools/chairs for when you have guests. I‘d go for stools though, less bulky and guests are usually fine sitting on them anyway. If you add simple cushions or themed fabrics on them, they‘d look fancy and comfy enough for parties too.
Hi Carla! Hope you're staying safe there with all of the weather warnings I've seen on the news! I'm in Canada, we were actually going to come there to visit in the next week or 2 but not with the weather warnings. Love your videos :)
Yea we have not had rain like this in I dont know how long. No dangerous flooding by me thankfully but def better to come when we're not in this atmospheric river!!
Because your dining nook is in a corner, what about bench seating on those 2 walls, with a round table? Then also creates extra seating with your couch for when people are over
I think a table with some built in benches along the wall would be great in that corner! I know you said you usually have company over often so the extra seating would be great! You could also push the table completely over the benches when it is just you to have more room! I love that little washer! It is so cute and useful!!
Hi Carla! Great to see you again! Thanks to watching one of your older vlogs I bought the same Panda washer, slightly different model, but yes it has been such a Blessing and I love it!! When I saw it I showed my hubby and we didn't know they existed.....thanks for showing us. No more washing downstairs or at the laundromat. 🌻❤🤗😍
I have learned so much on how to declutter even the smallest things by watching your videos. I still struggle wuth a few things because if my mom gives me something and i dont like it, its very hard to get rid of it because i still live in the same house as her and she sorts through all of our donations before letting it go in her car to get donated.
I agree with you on the airpods. Just get the real ones. they are great. If you wait til prime day or you know somone who has a costco membership, they go on sale pretty often there as well.
36" round table for the nook. It will be proportionate to the rest of the room but give you enough space for 2-3 people to eat at the table without feeling like their plates are in their laps.
Hey Beautiful, for (tight) corners no round or oval table. Actual shape and size depends on how many chairs you want (or would fit). I could imagine a square one in the corner with two stationary/permanent chairs and for when guests are over and you need more than two seats two (nice) folding chairs in addition. If you don't like/want to have folding chairs an other idea would be a rectangular one with two chairs on the long and one chair on the short side. For additional seating you could put a bench under it (both against the wall) and pull the table forward when guests are coming. 😊 I love your mobile washing mashine! 😁
I think round or square table can work. Sometimes a round table take a little bit more space and a square one can be shifted in the corner when not in use.
We're in the midst of taking down our Christmas decor too. So far on day 4. It's taking FOREVER. It feels super empty at first but also pretty nice to have more "breathing space" I'd say for that corner two chairs and a small round table would look nice.
Definitely a round table with the chairs backed against the 2 walls. Love your videos and I think it’s awesome when you put the date on the screen that shows when you were filming. I image what I was doing on that day.
Round table is i gues the best option in that corner and than add some nice photos and hanging plants with it. Round table looks softer and gives more space😘
This is literally my M.O. at the moment! My kids birthdays are all in the new year 😅 so I'm always low key stressing that as SOON as their various festivities are enjoyed, I need to PURGE, TIDY & REALLY start my new year! A very therapeutic watch, tfs girl & Happy New-ish Year! 😘
Oh wow I never knew you had portable washing machines? That’s really convenient if you don’t have a washing machine connection! Also like I see being mentioned by more people, I would get a (small) round dining table for your dining nook.
Hi Carla! .. I watch a lot of "declutter with me" type of videos and have done so for many years. I remember watching one of yours in the mix a while back and it standing out to me back then. Almost every single cleaning-type video is of a mom / wife / someone with kids and I am not a kid person and I just wanna watch a woman living with her fur babies like me! But when I first saw one of your videos, my life was in shambles and now that my life is getting put back together, I became determined tonight to find your channel! So I went to my watch history and searched "declutter" ... and then "minimal" ... and then "apartment" ... and when I searched "apartment", lo and behold, I had watched one of your videos in November 2021 apparently! Yayyy I found you and this time I will purposefully subscribe! This is only the second video I have watched of yours but I am eager to watch more now. I feel like you are similar to me in many ways that you mention in the videos/how you describe your thought processes/your mentality about things. I am in my mid 30s and I live on my own in an apartment and I have a cat and a dog fur babies. I am very good at organization and I love having a pristine place, but I am naturally super messy and a huge procrastinator and my small place gets cluttered so much so often (even though I have been on a minimalism journey for the last five years). Also, I refer to myself as "the queen of returns" because I am CONSTANTLY (almost weekly) returning so many items for various reasons. Also, I was in town in LA while it was raining recently helping my dad out because he lives out there! As for your little nook where your tree was, I would consider maybe a couple small benches in the corner as the seating for a table there? Something like that? I am assuming you probably couldn't install an actual full corner bench since it's an apartment.. Anyway, thank you so much for being unique compared to most of the other cleaning channels!! It really is SUCH a breath of fresh air. Have a wonderful 2023!
*and I just realized that you included instrumental jazz in your video. I love that genre and that is also different compared to the type of music that other people usually put in their decluttering videos! When I am trying to relax/focus, I will often put on instrumental jazz in the background when I remember to, along with some incense. 👍🏽
Totally forced myself to return something today before it was too late. I kept the bag in my car but I kept ignoring it. Trying to remove everything unessential.
Dining nook: Small round table with banquet seating that fits the corner…..???? May have to relocate tree this year but I feel like the banquet seating will really make it nook-y 😊
I am loving your haircut! Needed this today, I am surrounded by my Christmas decor, and watching UA-cam! 🙄 Will get up and get at least one thing done!😃
I found you on your portable laundry machines and stayed for everything else! I currently live in an apartment w a washer/dryer combo machine and I kinda wanna buy a separate portable dryer bc the dryer takes minimum 2.5 hrs 🙃
There’s something about your home and style that is just so simple, cozy, and inviting. I use your videos for inspiration all the time.
Wow, thank you so much!!🥰🥰🥰
@@TheCarlaProject I agree. May I ask? Which FACTOR meal plan have you chosen, that helped you lose the weight? Thank you kindly in advance.

for (tight) corners no round or oval table.
😊
I love your mobile washing mashine! 😁
That was a good reset for the new year. Way to start off.😊
Thank you ☺️
I think round or square table can work. Sometimes a round table take a little bit more space and a square one can be shifted in the corner when not in use.
We're in the midst of taking down our Christmas decor too. So far on day 4. It's taking FOREVER. It feels super empty at first but also pretty nice to have more "breathing space" I'd say for that corner two chairs and a small round table would look nice.
it really does feel like a reset after you get the decor down but I lose a bit of the cozy factor... HNY wendy!🥳
Round bistro table & 2 chairs❣️
I love your videos so much. So calming. I’m currently on bed rest and so many videos make me feel bad but you really uplift me. Thank you xxxxxxxx
I'm so glad!! Rest up and feel well soon 💖💖
I would go with a small round table with two chairs.
Clear glass round table that can catch light in a darker corner
Totally forced myself to return something today before it was too late. I kept the bag in my car but I kept ignoring it. Trying to remove everything unessential.
returns are SO HARD for me!! but my bank account thanks me after!❤️
Nice to see Mr Samson again🥰🐺
Circle table. It’s the best for small spaces.
What if you huge a light in the corner above your table to give you the cozy light like your tree did. Round table with a ikea light
Cozy vibes, yaaaaas
Any suggestions on how to stop procrastination?
Girl....procratination is my first, middle and last name....im gonna do my dishes as I watch this video!!! THANK YOU!
Great video! How about a corner dining bench for the dining nook as they take up less space? X
I found you on your portable laundry machines and stayed for everything else! I currently live in an apartment w a washer/dryer combo machine and I kinda wanna buy a separate portable dryer bc the dryer takes minimum 2.5 hrs 🙃
It’s worth it! Never going into the basement of my building again. Dries a load in 30-40!
@@TheCarlaProject what dryer do you have?
About to watch your two latest videos while I tackle my laundry mountains 🙃 thank you for the company🖤
Oh I love that!! Laundry day company 😍 my pleasure!!💖
You’re the best! Love listening to you and LOVE your music choices. 💕
I would put a small round table with 2 chairs.
I too am addicted to planners....wow that felt good to get it off my chest! Love your videos!❤
