NICE review! I actually have the identical amp (yes, purple.) Bought it as a studio amp because I am mainly a bass player live. But you demo’d three great examples! As a songwriter, Petty is a fave and I always loved Campbell’s tone. I’ve also owned Vox Teardrops since a teen. A former bandmate of mine actually toured as the Heartbreakers bkg vox. I also happen to have FOUR of the Heartbreakers’ late bassist’s (Epstein) basses, kind of by accident. I did buy one as a back-up to my Hamer Cruise Bass because I like Green and his was a one-off Sherwood Green pearl. I buy/sell rare guitars and someone asked me to get him Epstein’s pair of Hamer short-scale double-cuts, based on a ‘59ish EBO. They happened to be with two friends in Hollywood and Switzerland, so I did some trades…and then the jackass backed out of the deal. So, I kept them. Then I bought a butterscotch Tele that Phil Kubicki had built in ‘83, that had just turned up in a MD shop, that some women brought it, saying it “was her late husband’s.” I bought it thinking it was one of Danny Gatton’s but it turned out to be Epstein’s. Anyway….LOVED your review and just checked out another. THX.
Thanks! I do love the 6TBX years for sure. My Purple Vox stays at my studio as well but I have another 6tbx I use live with Get The Led Out. That’s a crazy story how you acquired all those basses.
I'm so very sorry for your loss of the drummer, when I heard this me and my boyfriend are extremely upset and also losing the base player Phil, You guys are like family to us, we been going to your shows ever since you guys first started. Bib Big fan.
Having just stumbled across your video, nice to find someone who is as sick in the head as I am about how the look of an app can make it sound freaking cool😅
Blast of cool video....the purple is spectacular as well. Great share....Thank you Tommy. Plus, the Zampwear (hoodie and t shirt) are awesome and I'm rockin in style. We gotta flip more GTLO fans to your merch page. Rock on!!
I enjoy your videos I (hopefully) am learning something along the way... i have a Vox amp... dont really know much about it it belonged to my late husband... you may have inspired me to pulling it out ... will see ... have a great day
Yes Tommy, I had a piggyback AC30 topboost I got in 1979 and your purple thingy sounds almost as good if not better. I used a 1960s Sg junior and an Ibanez les paul and a 12 string Ricky and they all sounded blinding. £150 in 1979 was a lot but we would spend more dough on amps than guitars for some reason? BTW the AC was 15 years old when I got it, I think it was a 64/65 but we did'nt give a crap about any if that because it was'nt a collectors item then(apart from Beatles nutz) also it had Grey celestion alnicos with 4 bolts on the magnet all painted in grey metal flake paint. You earned your sub by nominating "The Ruts".
If Tommy Zamp from GTLO uses this amp, I want one! I just don't know how to play the guitar. Would love you to do a shoot out. How can potential clients book you or GTLO? Love yah gorgeous, continued success
Well. Several years ago, I was simultaneously playing in two bands. Got that? Five years. Well. The other guitar player in both bands EACH had one of these boat anchors. So that was two weekly rehearsals, plus a lot of play dates for one, a general bar band. The other, Beatles/British Invasion. So I heard a LOT of KORG AC-30. LOUD and atrociously good sounding. But. The caveat. One of the guys got a crack in those wonderful Positive Crankcase Boards and it took him forever to find a tech who could figure it out. So. Be mindful. And with all due respect: You didn't quite approach that wonderful growling sound these amps blow out!!! And son. You have done a very fine job on this demo!! And Jesus saves! And time is running out!
I love my 1997 Vox AC30TBX. One of the best made amps of that era.
They really are great amps!
Purple makes it sound better. 💜
💜
Ill pick one up next week, also with blues and tbx version
