Welcome back to another episode guys! We've hit the Gulf of Carpentaria on the lower West Coast of Cape York and the barramundi fishing does not disappoint. We're in a new river system fishing for the iconic Barramundi and looking to capture some footage of those Huge Saltwater Crocodiles to show you guys. Enjoy!

So jealous we tried to get into WA but no go we are from Victoria. We were so excited to explore WA glorious coastlines,fingers crossed it won’t be to long.

haha yeah that was lucky it wasnt lost there. one of the worst of the trip. Dane did pay me back for that though... in an upcoming episode with a much bigger fish.

@@WildReaches yer Nate, we are back from Tassie now. Bloody excellent trip mate, I had to defrost a bit so I went up to a mates in Tannam Sands for a bit of fishing on Wild Cattle Creek. Those Grunter's up there go off mate. I spooled my 80lb line on one of my rods and snapped my other rod in four pieces....
You've gotta go there mate, it goes off this time of year.

We are slowly but surely getting locked out of everywhere.
This river system these guys are fishing has been shut down to camping now.
Only way in is by ocean.
Some places are only open for a few months of the year due to the wet season.
@@toejoe5076 the amount of places Ive seen with rubbish Laying everywhere is disgusting. We are Lucky that everyone still can go camping and it wasn't indigenous rubbish either.
Biggest croc I've seen was in the Freshwater Finniss NT. We were in a 4m tinny and it was longer than the boat. The croc swam out from under a huge log on a shallow sandbar in crystal clear water then under our boat which was epic to watch.
Sounds like an eerie encounter. The two biggest iv seen were in freshwater too. Black as the ace of spades. One of them stalked me down the lagoon.

Absolutely brilliant guys, what a dream place and what great fish. We are still living the dream with you! Cheryl got excited with the croc, lunged foreword with the gaffer tape and now its a pain getting the bugger off the TV screen 🙄, still that's what living in the wild is like!! Just put rice and kippers on ready to eat, after we have cleared the snow 🥶. Thanks again guys take care....From the UK.

You should do some barra chips with scales deep fry in bit of oil yummy
We did something similar back in season 3 but they didnt really turn out as chips. It was deep fried barra skin with scales on. I should definitely perfect that

When I lived up there back in the day we didn’t have any sort of portable refrigerators so we used to tie the barra up really close to the boat by securing them by the lower jaw by running a cord thru a small slit in the thin skin at the front of the mouth,
After they had been tied up just chilling under the boat for either a couple of hours until we were ready to eat them or even overnight till we were going home they lost all I’m guessing lactic acid from their capture an their flesh was super white an so much better tasting 👌👌

Even a fillet off that fish was too much for me to eat. Was better off going to the locals people of the land in respect for the privilege.
