SharfRF OpenSpot 3 is functioning well on crosslink. OpenSpot 3 uses WLAN. On my location in Hamburg Germany, there are 32 WLAN-Stations around me. I switched back to use my OpenSpot 1 with LAN.
Now that you have had time to fully use the device, is it worth the price? In the US it translates to over 3X what the Pi-Star hotspots cost. It does seem very convenient and easy to use. The portability alone may justify the cost.
Does the Open Spot 2 also offer cross mode functionality? Are there any significant differences between v2 and v3 devices? Been mulling the purchase of one of these over for a few weeks to work with my IC9700. My nearest D-Star repeater is Woking and other users keep unlinking when I am on REF001C 🤬. Brilliant upload. Thank you! 😊👍
Near the end of this video you mention "Next video going portable using a New product providing WiFi away from home via SIM Card" I could not find that next video. Did I miss it or is it still coming? What is the device? Thanks
Ahhhh yes, well, turns out the device I got sent had a copyrighted part which kinda made it impossible for me to advertise. So I sent it back. Hopefully in the future I’ll get something else. Thanks for watching 🙏
When using a C4FM radio, can you press the X key to bring the fusion menu up, enabling you to change reflectors from the radio? I can do this on my Pi-Star hotspot. Cheers for a great video! Mine’s on order
Re the APRS function, is it only a static location? You mentioned mobile APRS. Just wondered if it would allow beacon of your new location as you travelled?
I’m pretty sure that if the radio you’re using is sending GPS data as you move then that will be passed to APRS.FI. I’ll be able to show this working in my next video. DMR is slightly different as the GPS information is handled by the reflector you’re connected to.
IF I have A DMR radio in my car and I'm using this hot spot can I still use my cell phone to make and receive calls? IF I'm say this right if I'm using the cell phone has a hot spot can I still make and receive cell phone calls? or this a seperate device from the cell phone???? I'm dazed and confused
If you’re not close to repeaters this provides access to reflectors through the use of the internet. Hopefully my next video on this will demonstrate it working :)
I have worked at least 25 hours, tried factory reset, tried a firmare update. When I try to connect on the computer it sends me to msn. Why recommend such a difficult hotspot to setup. I have set up pi-star on many different modes it works. What can I do to not go bald from pulling my hair out.
OS3 is even easier to setup than PiStar, so not entirely sure what problem you’re having or where the issue lays. Have you tried another computer, or even a tablet or phone browser?
@@TechMindsOfficial Where is a simple step by step directions, every one I see is convoluted. I am considering to see if it will take a weight test with my silverdo 1500
@@TechMindsOfficial pi-star has simple step by step videos while I can't find a set of directions for the os3 setup to print. I need directions to tell me in what sequance to push buttons, show what the status of the colors conditions on the led's. Can't even make heads or tails of cell phone setup's. Not a very reliable device. Mine broken few hours after arrival. Tried to arrange return but the customer services are very difficult to deal with. AVOID!
Thanks from across the pond mate I love how you show so many different types of technology.
Can this be opened so we can change the battery in a few years when the battery goes kaput?
Excellent my HAM brother! Expecting delivery of my FT3DR in 3 days. Lots of study time in my future.... this helps immensely!

This is the BEST hotspot money can buy... In my opinion.

Thanks for the video, mine is on order.... but great to see how you set it up...
You’re welcome :) I’ll be doing another video on using it portable with phone and WiFi hotspots soon.
Tech Minds look forward to that....👍🏻
Great video review. Now I'm waiting for the 2m/70cm version, OpenSpot 4 perhaps?
Looks like they discontinued the OS3, so they maybe prepping for the 4?
Can I use this without a radio to listen, with the audio coming out my computer? Thanks
Yes, only the version 3 does this, through your web browser

Tried to order one today, and their website said would be shipped on July 20th! Really?? 6 weeks?

@@TechMindsOfficial Thank you for the reply. Will be interesting to see what you find. Great video (as usual:)
Great video but if you would slow down it would let us follow what you are showing. 73

I only wish it was possible to buy one !
What mic are you using to do the videos
Rode Procaster with a mic preamp. Used to use a Rode NT USB but wasn’t as good as this Procaster
@@TechMindsOfficial thanks
Where can i purchase this? Can't find it anywhere...
SharkRF.com
It says “pre-order” on their site? Is it not out to public?
amazon does not carry this
You have to buy direct from SharkRF.com
Best demo I have seen. Given the accent, a slower cadence and more modulation would have made it easier to follow.
Extremalnie expensive!
But worth every penny
