Reminder that this list starts with 1970 players. (Kareem Era) 1950 - 1969 players like Wilt, Russell, Oscar, Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Bob Cousy, Sam Jones, George Mikan, etc are too old to be eligible in this Nick's list. There is a chance we see Steph and KD in Top 12, if not Top 10.
I think it's pretty much impossible. How do you rate a guy like Mikan? He has all the "old time" issues. He isn't spectacular by any modern metric, but dominated even more than Shaq, 5 rings and nobody to stop him. He got a couple of minor injuries and wasn't ever able to recover for the lack of sports medicine and conditioning. He was a real pioneer, and I honestly don't know how you could rank him. He wouldn't be as dominant 10 years later, but if he didn't played, maybe other 10 years would pass before big man were a thing
@@matthasahand5495 I just think when you prove you can do what kawhi did, it’s almost auto top 25. There’s less than 20 players ever that can have the postseason kawhi had in 2019. Not even bringing up CP3 now just because of that Suns meltdown - but even before that, I don’t see how he’s ranked above guys like Garnett and The Admiral. Both of those guys have league MVPs, DPOY, and won titles. The only thing CP3 has on either of them is he’s a better floor general and playmaker which lead to some all time great assist numbers. He’s not better than either guy anywhere else, and he doesn’t have the regular season OR postseason accomplishments to make up for it. He’s pretty much John Stockton at best.
CP3 finished top 5 in mvp voting 5 times in his career. He's the greatest player in history in terms of assist to turnover ratio. He's 12th all time in PER and 1st at his position. He's lead 4 teams as the 1st/2nd option to franchise records. CP3 is top 5 in all time Box Plus/Minus, Offensive Rating, Assists, Steals, etc. CP has a better playoff record than John stockton and KG, even with his failures and injuries. If you want to say David Robinson/KG should be ahead, that's fine, I'd probably agree, but I don't see the argument for John stockton, he's has some bad playoff performances similar, has a negative playoff record, while having Karl Malone( MVP caliber player his whole career)
@@yelsu3358 No you’re obviously going off of recency bias because if you seen Stockton play you would think completely different not taking anything away from Chris Paul but John Stockton was a better player

This is a very difficult task, and if anyone can try to even come up with their list, with all the research that you have done, then kudos to them whomever that may be. Right now you're the only one that's taking the time out to do the research, and to try to objectively bring up the 50 best players in the last 50 years. That was a good question previously about Barclay and David Robinson? Though I think statistically, since you have Barclay over David Robinson, then the stats absolutely, positively, definitely have to be there to back it up.
The biggest thing to me about Stockton isn't just that he's the all-time leader in two major categories, but it's not even close. Even guys that had really long careers like Jason Kidd can't even sniff Stockton.
@@zregory Obviously not on this list, but I see soooo many people try to argue that players like Jason Kidd are not only better, but sometimes even way better than Stockton. Meanwhile this guy that folks seem to treat like a scrub racked up such insane numbers. "He only has that many assists because he played with Malone!" as if other point guards never played with great scorers.
Having David Robinson, and KG so low is crazy to me. Both were multiple time champions later in their careers, and I think it was clear in their primes they could've led teams to win titles, if they had any sort of help. KG actually did lead at least one finals team, I would argue 2 even tho the numbers weren't as great the 2nd time. Also, both were the best player on the planet for at least 1 season, and close to it other times as well (Admiral in 94, and KG in 04), to me that counts for a lot, especially when several players higher on the list barely ever sniffed that conversation.
@@matthasahand5495 I understand the typo. Regardless, I still think your argument is invalid on the, "if they had any help" aspect. Dirk won his ring as the main driving force and Barkley was in the same competitive west as the admiral and got to the finals without the same help so to speak. Duncan is top 10 all time, anyone arguing that is asinine. Paul Pierce was the primary scorer on that team. Granted, he was not the best player but KG is not better than the contemporaries that will rank higher than him just based on the fact that the didn't win in the same way Dirk did.
I'm obviously not going to watch this once it gets down to the final three but I have been enjoying the historical analysis as well as the trips down memory lane

Hits his prime and faces the 73 win Warriors, 61 win Spurs best defense in the NBA with no help, Big 4 Warriors for three years straight, Bubble Lakers with Westbrook playing all-time bad and the Bucks with a torn hamstring. Look at the numbers, both regular season and the playoffs, look at the win % for both and the accolades. 25 might not be high enough.

Lebron, Kd, Steph, Giannis, and Cp3 are obvious even though he’s got cp3 wayyyyy too high. And he said two of them played each other this year. No way he’d talkin cp3 and joker. I believe he misspoke like he tends to do
Yah I assume because this was done before the CP3 falling apart in the playoffs again, he prob wouldve ranked him worse if he did this next year imo. He was prisoner of the moment last year with CP3 but both CP3 and Harden have similar Playoff failures and Harden is leagues ahead in the regular season department. I wouldve put him and Harden closer together around the 30 mark.
Rings matter, but obviously being that good for multiple years is a better indicator of a players greatness AS AN INDIVIDUAL. Yes we factor in team accomplishments such as finals appearance or rings.

Ben Wallace is the answer he won I think 2 Dpoy awards.
I love the Craig Kilborn guest spot at the end 🙌🏾
James harden and Russell Westbrook have to be the 2 most difficult players to rank. So good with obvious flaws
Great individual talents in the regular season but couldn't translate it to the playoffs.
Reminder that this list starts with 1970 players. (Kareem Era)
1950 - 1969 players like
Wilt, Russell, Oscar, Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Bob Cousy, Sam Jones, George Mikan, etc are too old to be eligible in this Nick's list.
There is a chance we see Steph and KD in Top 12, if not Top 10.
Your doing a great job on this series ..This channel is gonna take off
The Admiral💯💯
I'm from Annapolis so this is great to me!!
Please do a Top 50 list thats starts with the NBA inception to Kareem.
I don’t think guys under age 75 really have a proper perspective to make a good list from back in the day
I think it's pretty much impossible. He wouldn't be as dominant 10 years later, but if he didn't played, maybe other 10 years would pass before big man were a thing
we might see Skip Bayless when Nick reveals his top 1 LOL
Wait James Harden is a greater player than Kawhi, Pippen, Gervin, Mcadoo???
Nahh Pippen>Kawhi>Harden>Russ imo
Kawhi>Pippen easily. Harden shouldn’t be top 40
Yes.
@@Joes35 prime for prime sure Kawhi was better, but when you look at their whole career it's definitely Pippen.
@@matthasahand5495 I just think when you prove you can do what kawhi did, it’s almost auto top 25. There’s less than 20 players ever that can have the postseason kawhi had in 2019. Also 4 postseasons have been taken from him due to cheap shot injuries. I think clippers would’ve won the title last year if ingles doesn’t take an unnecessary take foul on him late in game 4
Actually a little surprised by that relatively positive James Harden career review but yeah... Good stuff!
Stockton was a killer. Respect.
Guys, Everyone of us will have a different lists. If we will do our own. I guarantee almost no one will have the same exact list.
But, I was hoping 2-4 spots are the only difference with the most accurate, logical, and objective lists.
Just curious who is your top 5. Cause top 3 for me is a lock but 4-5 Is harder for me
@@todro8410 Top 4 for me in order is
Jordan
Kareem
LeBron
Magic
If LeBron passes Kareem in points, he will move ahead of him. If LeBron wins another ring, he will move ahead of Jordan.
The 5th spot for me is the toughest for me, but I got Luka. Jk, I got Bird.
And Stockton was way better stat wise than chris
Casual take from you. CP3s game 2 against the Mavericks alone is better than anything Stockton ever did in the playoffs.
@@yelsu3358 and where's he at now? Cancun lol
Since that game he was god awful and averaged like 8 PPG with 5 TO. Just terrible. He dropped 30 1 game in the postseason and that's why he's above KG and Admiral? Df lol
And we don't know where he's ranked, he may come in above someone like Malone who's a 2x MVP, 3rd all time in points, 11x 1st team all nba etc.
It's a joke.
Lebron , KD , Steph , Giannis , CP3 are 5 of the 6 active ones
Is he finna say LUKA ???? 🥴
Always look forward to this let’s go!
If Luka is on this list, it will ruin what has been a great list and a breath of fresh air to the sports world
Consider the list ruined.
The biggest thing to me about Stockton isn't just that he's the all-time leader in two major categories, but it's not even close. Even guys that had really long careers like Jason Kidd can't even sniff Stockton.
Some idiots might try to diminish that as a longevity record like you don't have to play for a long time and be good for a long time as well
@@zregory Obviously not on this list, but I see soooo many people try to argue that players like Jason Kidd are not only better, but sometimes even way better than Stockton.
Totally agreed
KG has 1 ring.
KG has one championship, not multiple.
@@kbtwofour6083 that's a typo, 2 finals appearances. 1 ring with KG as clearly the best player.
I think it's gonna be Kareem, Jordan than LeBron. That's a fair take, I might have Jordan at #1... But it's obviously close enough to be an opinion
I hope he puts Jordan at 3 just to show how credible this list ISNT! 😂
@@_Shaquille_ Kareem won same amount of championships, more mvps and was an all time great longevity guy too... It wouldn't discredit his list
The 6 remaining have got to be Lebron, KD, Steph, Giannis, Chris Paul, and I’m betting he already has Luka
That’s ridiculous his whole list has been objective
Then who is the 6th? And keep in mind he said two just played each other in a series

Kimbo Slice at 25 is good for now - Hope he is able to finish his career strong enough to keep that spot.

The fact that cp3 isn't even on the list yet is kinda scaring me ngl he shouldn't be as high as top 21 of the last 50 yrs and that being ahead of harden because harden was obviously the best player when they were in Houston.
Edit: if the 6 active players on the list are as follows: lebron, kd, steph, giannis, cp3, and LUKA that will just make me lose respect for everything about this list
Yeah Nick says he loves CP3 so im thinking maybe 17
but Chris Paul has had a better career than Harden
@@tedenejp1644 ye but some of this has to be about who the better player is too given that they sustained their peaks for a long time, the fact of the matter is that even if cp3 had more accomplishments, harden at his prime was better than prime cp3 and the same can best said about lot of these guys like kg, kawhi, David Robinson, etc

I must have missed the Kawahi Leonard ranking I'd take him over James Harden every day of the week. Playoff performance and rings is simply more important.
Nicholas you are completely BUGGIN if you put Luka on this list. Tryna be slick at the end. NO WAY!
This list is taking forever bro...ur man is taking 50 years to give us his top 50
LeBron, KD, Steph, Giannis, Chris Paul and Dame Lillard
Dame didn't play this season and Blazers didn't make the playoffs. So its not Dame.
Not to mention Dame would be way too high to be ahead of Admiral, KG, AI, Kawhi and others.
To this day I still say KG > Duncan in terms of individual talent. If KG had the teams that Duncan did, the narrative would be different.
Lebron, KD ,Steph ,CP3 ,Giannis are the obvious 5 current players that haven’t been ranked. For the life of me I can’t figure out who #6 is. But please pleaseeeeee for the love of god don’t let it be Luka. He will EVENTUALLY be on this list. But please don’t have him too 20 already.
Jokic is a solid top 5 in the NBA
Yep
Holy cow, Michelle Beadle and Craig Kilbourne!!!!
2 of my favorite people who I'm sad they aren't on TV anymore.
Michelle on nba show before Nichols took everything over and of course Sports Nation with Colin
Craig from the early days of the daily show and the guy before the funny Scottish guy took over . Also likes him in Old School
you put james harden on the list and you DIDNT put paul pierce on the list....THIS IS WHY I WONT WATCH YOUR LIST.....PIERCE FACED HALL OF FAME PLAYERS AND WON.....JAMES HARDEN JUST PUT UP STATS AND NEVER WON, HE now SUCKS at a relatively young age, ITS A TRAVESTY THAT YOU PUT HIM ON THIS LIST AND NOT PAUL PIERCE, A NBA CHAMPION WHO BEAT LEBRON AND KOBE TO ACHIEVE THAT...wtf nick........
Should have mentioned David Robinson’s 70 point game
And he has a quadruple double game. The man accomplished amazing things coming in the league late at 24 and then only having a 7-8 year run before getting injured.
Comments are just showing how underrated James Harden is. Arguably the best offensive player without a ring, maybe one of the least lucky players of all time in terms of competition and injury luck.
Everthing you said I'd true, but every player ahead of him, besides Stockton were also great reg season players, better defense player than him, and better playoff performer than him. He reached his peak on the list
Nick, if you're just going to read stats, get a teleprompter. Just hook up a tablet or laptop to cast to a TV out of view. It's not good TV watching you look down and to the side. You're a professional. Step up the production quality.
Love this
KG at worst is 2nd best PF of all time
He's not better than Malone or Duncan so at best 3rd
Stockton over harden is crazy
Chris Paul over harden and kg is nuts .
There's no way Barkley is better then kg.
Nope
harden too high. I'd take AI or nash in a heartbeat. plus how is he higher than kawhi lmao
I really don't see how Robinson can be ahead of a guy like Elvin Hayes who was great for longer and led a team to a title.
I swear to God if you have Doncic you're making a fool of yourself.
He can end up there by the end of his career, but right now he's done NOTHING.
Get your head straight.
Would be his most ridiculous take, and that’s saying something
Probably not top 50 but 75 yes
I feel like KG would be right there with Duncan if he had gone to the Celtics like 6-8 years earlier and had another title or two. He wasted basically his whole prime on that garbage Wolves team. 😒
If harden and kawhi had a baby and inherited both players strengths, that’s the greatest player of all time.
I don't think he misspoke. He has Luka up there. It's insane but he will.

Rings matter, but obviously being that good for multiple years is a better indicator of a players greatness AS AN INDIVIDUAL. Yes we factor in team accomplishments such as finals appearance or rings.

Hey Nick, do you think the Joe Smith situation also hurts KGs legacy. Maybe he could of got some help early on
KG > Dirk to me tbh, but this has been an alright list so far. Except for top 30 James Harden, that was wild
I've got a problem with Dirlk being over Garnett. The only thing Dirk is better at is shooting, defensively not close. And Dirk couldn't sniff a rebound title. Also Paul is going to be over Stokton. It's close, but you got to give more respect for all-time assist & steals.Like you said, will most likely never be broken.
Dirk surpassed KG in my eyes on 2011. KG never carried a team to a title. Take Dirk off the Mavs and they havd average takent. And look who the Mavs beat that year: Lebron & Wade; KD, Westbrook, & Harden; and Kobe. KG was the better younger player. Dirk was the better older player with a higher peak.
Only thing LOL. Dirk over KG is easy. Just like how Duncan over dirk is.
So he has one of either Luka, Jokic, Butler, Kyrie or Draymond/Klay left on the list, any of whom would be ridiculous, but it’s going to be Luka, which is the most ridiculous of them all 😂

League MVP
FMVP
Statistically the best player in the finals
CP3 has none of them

The only question left is how high does he have him? Ahead of CP3, Dirk, KD?
I like the Stockton explanation, if we are drafting these 50 players, Stockton might be pick 50 but career resume wise, he kind of has to be Top 25, its just too good. I dont agree with Harden though, I'm taking Pippen over Harden every day of the week
The 6th either has to be Luka or Jokic which is wayyyy too early… Luka and Cp3 played in a series this year, also Jokic and Steph
